Sunrise Films I thought these two had much more chemistry than Newton-John and Travolta, mostly because they knew each other more than the former, and Hough has much more acting experience, so she's able to convey much more of the chemistry required.
It's still possible to compare apples to oranges. And it's still possible to like one more than the other for the ways that they are different. The film version of Grease was a hundred miles better. This adaptation was good, but it is not as good as the film with Olivia Newton John and John Travolta.

I was able to see Grease on Broadway in 1973. Some of the less positive comments here are, in my opinion, because they are comparing this stage production to the film version (they may not even know that's what they are doing). This production compares very favorably to the original. Nice work.

It is near impossible to not even a little bit compare Grease Live to the film. There was just something magical--lightning in a bottle with that film. Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta were perfection. The songs were immaculate--especially the ones added to it like "Hopelessly Devoted" and "You're The One I Want" ... I have a very difficult time separating but I appreciate the ingenuity it took to do this show live. The cast did a fantastic job.
