Mr. Night Light is an incredibly beautiful, poetic, and misunderstood product. It uses red LED lights which is good because it is easier on the eyes. The reason devices such as computers and phones have a nightlight mode is to turn the blue light into red light which has a lower wave frequency, making it easier to fall asleep compared to blue light.
The world is not all sunshine and rainbows. It is a grim and dark place. Mr. Night Light being dressed in dark clothing and being the embodiment of the Grim Reaper helps the children and adults for that matter realize that they have the strength within them to live in a grim and dark world. Mr. Night Light is an embodiment of the Vengeful One and the Doom Slayer who slays demons and the wicked. He thus serves as an inspirational figure. This will inspire people to conquer their demons and their nightmares.
The grunt/groan is not sexual. Saying that it is is patently absurd. Frankly, I'm not even sure why those judges in the focus group were there with how weak and foolish they were. The groan/grunt is there to symbolize that when Mr. Night Light looks to the mountain's peak, he has already fallen, and so he climbs. It is the same thing as Guts lying down in a field while covered in mud, blood, and rain in a storm of blood after facing seemingly interminable horrors. Mr. Night Light is saying that he understands what the person is going through in their bleakest of hours, and encourages them that they have what it takes to tread the hero's path that Guts and others like him tread despite the seemingly overwhelming suffering, malevolence, and tragedy of life. Mr. Night Light beckons forth greatness as the light in the darkness with his glowing, red, illuminating eyes, and as the darkness in the light with his dark edgy robes; and to integrate one's shadow and malevolence to become the storm in the darkness, and to conquer fate itself with faith and fire.
