One of my favorite Mercedes designs of all time, so beautiful, elegant, timeless. So much better looking than the S-Class coupes that replaced it

Totally agree, and it has elegance to it as well. Do you know if they are reliable or not?

@@ubiased23 my mom had one, it wasn't bad but small stuff broke like the sunshade, and some speakers in the back, under warranty but they cost thousands to fix. Also I've heard bad things about the 5.5 V8 in these early W221s.

@@Ferraridude13 i guess nothing major? Worried aboutbthr electronics that might become a nightmare later on. thinking about buying one and you can pick them up at a decent price.
My cousin has a 2009 s550 4 door and it gives him a lot of trouble despite the fact he barely drives it.

@@ubiased23 definitely the electronics can bleed you, and the air suspension.

@@Ferraridude13 the air suspension! I can't believe that I have forgotten to mention it!
I guess that's why they depreciate so quickly due to the expensive parts and repairs?

The C216 Series came out in 2006 for the European market and 2007 for the American market.

Did you guys see the cl550 had no body roll? How is that possible when the car it is so heavy?

      That's the ABC at work.

      It’s really is amazing
Only the rear wheel drive models have it. 4matic has air suspension which is not the same at all

The 7 speed automatic transmission allegedly couldn't handle the power of the CL65 AMG, which was why Mercedes-Benz used the 5 speed automatic transmission instead.

I really like this car. But, dont know if its reliable or not. Since it is a Mercedes then i would assume so.

The ABC suspension system is probably the least reliable part of this car.

This is a timeless machine and hard to believe it came out in 07. The way it maneuvers the slalom without body roll looks like something out of this world. My head was hurting trying to comprehend how a car that heavy is holding its own without any drama. This was peak mercedes to me. 07 was the last time mercedes gave it all after the W140. Since then its just a revision and it’s actually hard to make something better than this.

In germany the CL c216 came out as early as 2006 but during that time it was a transiton year for Mercedes-Benz they were already selling the New CL overseas while in America the C215 and W220 models were still being sold.
