  • In this video I review everything you'll need to know about planetary combat. I start by doing a full review of the current Zirax Patrol Vessel's, reviewing their weapons, and core locations. I then review some current combat SV's from the workshop, talk a little bit about weapon loadouts, and do some initial testing in creative mode.
    I then head into a live play through and test these ships against moving targets! I first focused on the patrol vessels, but then pivot to the Zirax Drone Base. I start with core 7 & work my way up to core 15. Unfortunately block limits really put a damper on how much you can put on your ship. But, I was able to figure out some of the best weapon loadouts and approaches to the Zirax Drone Base.
    Enjoy!

    Oooh how did I miss this one, nice vid! And thanks for putting some of my in there! :)
    So, still there are a couple things here that you might want to consider:
    - If you want to take out ppvs, a good alternative is to not go for the core, but kill the lift thrusters. There aren't many of those and they are much easier to kill. Especially on the sunat. The ppv will despawn anyways once disabled. (thats also how you kill ppvs in a HV, its actually quite easy. Can also just target generators. Just need enough turrets and they are toast. Kill turrets first if you want to play it safe)
    - Unless you are running (EMP)bombs or torps, don't mix fixed weapons. hyperlaser and heavy rail -> Baaaaaad idea. Two hyperlasers will be much better overall. In fact the hyperlasers were so much stronger then every other weapon, that Vermillion had to add the -33% nerf against turrets to them. Even after that they are still amongst the best all around weapons you can have against shielded POIs. The big difference to RE1 is that all weapons do basically the same base dps against blocks. Lasers the same as rails, with heavy rails even being lower because Vermillion penalised them for their explosive damage component. The main difference in weapons, is the bonuses you see there in the tooltip. TL;DR: If you aren't sure which weapon to use in RE2, use lasers. For everything! Including killing turrets! They are really strong against everything, and it basically takes emp bombs to get anywhere close to them with a mixed weapon setup.
    - Also I was screaming at the screen when you complained that the Marauder didn't have decoys: You just took them out! ;) The retractable lasers in front are there to catch penetrating fire. Their target spot - that is where the enemy shoots at - sits in the box they retract into. So if you aim at the enemy, their turrets have to get through all those blocks in front while your turrets can still happily fire back.
    - Some Drones in RE2 can be really dangerous, especially in large swarms. You may want to take them out first. They are the reason the Marauder has 4 gatling turrets. Even though that was more aimed at the situation on the Sector Command.
    Concerning the long fights, yeah thats by design and how Vermillions wants it to be. Have to get used to that. It isn't that long however, I think maybe around 10 minutes to defang a drone base in a core 7 if flown really good? Maybe 15-20 if flown normally? Not sure. Thats still not that much in terms of empyrion gameplay...

    So far I've had good results by using the shield penetration to my advantage. Load up my SV with as many railguns as I can, and target the POI shield emitter from directly above, where most guns don't have a firing solution.

    It would be cool if the weapon limits changed between HV & SV, like an HV could support more heavy weapons & gives a bonus to block damage or something

    Awesome video, really interesting to compare all the weapons and ships. Whats that A.I voice issuing warnings? I haven’t heard that during my current RE2 play through.
    I’m thinking auto laser turrets combined with probably rail guns would be a decent combo. While the shields are coming down you can start working on turrets with the shield penetration instead of solely focusing on shields first

      The voice are the alarm sentry turrets. They are available to add to any ship. Thanks for watching!

    By the time you finish off the patrols you won’t have time or the energy to finish the poi. Also I love using those med to large rocket pods

    Thanks for reviewing the XF-35 Phantom, dude.
    I may have messed up at some point with the Shield Boosters.
    There should be 2 chargers and 2 capacitors.
    I have had some problems where builds lost all the custom components at times.
    And at one time I probably made a mistake with the ratio between charge and capacitor.
    (Which should be 2 capacitors to 1 charger).
    So thanks for uncovering that mistake. I appreciate that.
    I have in the meanwhile built a more advanced one, utilizing Mk99 EMP Bombs and 140MM Guided Missiles.
    The A33 Buccaneer.

    against Kiuveras it is VERY easy to use small CV like e.g. Lancer. With 4 laser turrets, that work in atmosphere and missiles aiming for generators. You have CV shield which is much stronger, and overall it is a much safer experience. Have not tried Sunat yet though. If you want to core Kiuveras, I found easiest way is from below - the turrets there I think are weaker.

    I feel like it would just be better to have hyper specialized SVs.. one for dropping shields, and then quickly swap to one for sniping turrets. or just carry 2 interchangeable weapon sets, that you quickly swap out. at least for busting POIs.. for the patrol vessels that wouldnt work so good.

    • @mov4do
      @mov4do  Месяц назад

      That is an option, but the base shields recharge, unless you destroy them before swapping. Otherwise, yeah, that’s the best option for bases.

    I think the plasma weapons are good, if you cheese the terrain, and they let you snipe the turrets while downing the shields.. also good for the patrol vessels, so you can get block damage while downing the shields. I dont think they are good for an up front spinning fight.

    • @mov4do
      @mov4do  Месяц назад

      Yeah I would agree with that. They don’t do shield damage fast enough on their own.
