I downloaded this album just before a flight to London so that I would have music to hear. Needless to say listening to this for the first time while looking out of a plane window was one of the most cathartic moments of my life.
Right now, my college's choir is supposed to be singing this, but amidst all the chaos, our plans for a concert are in limbo. However, I couldn't resist coming and listening, this song just brings me peace at this very stressful time and assures that things are and will be ok. Thank you Ola Gjeilo.
Things will be OK. I am near 70 and have never, ever seen change that has not produced good; that is if you believe in God. Be at peace, Jacob. I will pray for you.
I sang this song with my high school’s choir in my senior year. That was nearly five years ago now. It will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for writing such beautiful music that helps so many express their feelings and feel at peace
The Lake Isle of Innisfree BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree, And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made; Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee, And live alone in the bee-loud glade. And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings; There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow, And evening full of the linnet’s wings. I will arise and go now, for always night and day I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore; While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, I hear it in the deep heart’s core.
Beautiful. The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. (Psalm 24:1) The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. (Psalm 95:5)
Oh! My sentiments exactly. It's bloody hard work wading through the wikipedia list of 21st Century Contemporary Classic composers. The dis-harmonius stabbing of piano, violin and whatever found objects might come to hand has become such a dreadful cliche. Time for a return to beautiful music - Thanks Ola indeed
As much as I agree with the beauty of this piece, us musicians should be lifting one another up and giving encouragement. I hate all the gatekeeping that occurs within the classical community. Music is for everyone, if it doesn't match your taste, there's no need to bash others who enjoy it. And especially not bashing the composers.
This lovely music made my day really🌷🌷🌷 It takes away all the stress and anxiety💖So beautiful, peaceful, absolutely amazing✨ I very much appreciate for sharing this great music for us✨
we performed this piece last night in a church whose acoustics transported. Ola, I can't wait to meet you in person. Your work is building my capacity to become the instrument. It's less like singing and more like channeling.
Ola Gjeilo, I found you pieces in 2018 autumn, from that day I can't stop listening to your works. Every day I am starting my job with headphones and your songs. Wonderful! You have amazing gift to touch peoples souls. Thank you
Finally, back to the great serenity of voices, choral music, piano as close to Classic New Age as I can remember, feel and hope to share such true Renaissance ! The simple and yet so glimmering touch of your work give us a piece of skies puzzle that were missing for so long ... From the bottom of my heart...obrigado, merci, thank you, viele danke. How could music be so exquisite? This is an amazing piece of work that combines piano, guitar and voices so beautifully and uniquely. This is why I love Ola Gjelo's music so much.
"Always night and day I hear lake water lapping in low sounds by the shore. when I stand on the roadway or on pavements grey I hear it in the deep hearts core"- so true- when I am away from Scotland thats how I feel- I want to go home
Have you ever heard something so beautiful that you can’t help but wonder that maybe there is a God who made us and gave us music. Music is a sure way to connect with God.

Almost too much beauty to take in at once. Thank you so much. Exactly this time last year we took our family to Norway and watching this brings goosebumps and tears of nostalgia. Such escape from the sadness around our world. Many regards from Sydney, Aust - Dave
This music makes me want to run to the beach in time to see the sun rise up out of the Atlantic Ocean, to stretch out my arms, to open my senses, to hear the cries of the sea birds and watch the fishes dart through transparent gray waves tinged with pink from the firey morning sun, to watch the Lighthouse with its beautiful Fresnel lamp still lit, still turning, a beacon reaching out in every direction to guide the sailor back home to his bouy. I pray the Lord grants me just one more day to experience the smell, and the taste, and the feel of the salt spray on my lips
I discovered this composer on CLASSIC FM..... Wonderful.... Truely wonderful.... I suffer from Aspergers and I find this piece of music so comforting....
I somehow stumbled across Ola's music about two years ago and something happened when I listened to it. The amazing harmonies, the unique choral sounds melded (with piano, guitar etc) in a way I'd never heard...somehow it just got to me and nothing else seems to quite take my mind to a place of serenity as Ola's music does. I would call finding Ola's music transformational in my life...and I listen to an awful lot of music. Now please come to Sydney and do some composer led concerts!!
Hi Ian, I discovered Ola Gjeilo via WCLV, my local (Cleveland, OH) classical music station when I heard "Tundra" as I was driving to work. The first thing I did when I got home was to search for more compositions by Ola and I discovered a treasure trove of beautiful music that has brought me many hours of listening pleasure.
This is absolutely beautiful, it makes me feel the kindness and the strength of Mother Nature and hope for the future of human beings. I feel less alone by listening to this piece of Music, thank you.
This is absolutely gorgeous, my whole being responded to the sublime sounds. There is so much beauty, so much love and God Source is ever present. Courage, dear heart

Thank you Ola for composing such beautiful music I had the honor to perform the piece on tour with my college's choir and this piece as well as The Ground would always strike people to their soul's.
Just stumbled upon this composer - what a find! Love the Norwegian footage. It brought back wonderful memories of our Norwegian coastal voyage. The Norwegians we met on our trip were lovely people. My dad went to Norway a lot before WW2 and I inherited his love for Norway.
It calls from that perfect summer of our youth, which we’re not sure whether we closed our eyes too soon and fell asleep on, or opened our eyes too soon and awoke from...
My son had the opportunity to perform this wonderful piece with his high school Varsity choir (in Austin, TX) right before the pandemic hit the US. It was so inspirational to see the young musicians jump in to learn this amazing piece and then give their best performance to that point. This was the last piece they performed together. In person. Thank you, Ola, for all of the beautiful music you share with the world, but especially for this piece.
Ok, anyone else notice that this video is of the Northern Lights and would go better with Gjeilo's Northern Lights? The video should be of green Ireland, which is the subject of the original poem and thus the composition.
I am literally sooo speachless!!! The music and the video, incredible combination of something heavenly... Thank you so much for this!!! Especially in the middle of depressing winter time..
2 months ago, I visited a friend of mine and we were discussing places in the world we want to visite. My friend likes Italy and some area's down south a lot, while I prefer to go up north, the cold. Both Norway and Finland are on my bucketlist and Switzerland as well. When I got in the car, and turned on the radio this beautiful song started playing and it turned out the composer is Norwegian. If this isn't a sign from the universe, then I don't know what it is 🌟
The majestic music and the beautiful video accompanying it are absolutely stunning! I adore this masterpiece. Thank you so much to all the people who spent time on this work :)
I don't know how to feel about this piece. My initial instinct was to really like it. But then I thought it was too accessible and had too many pop-like/sound-tracky qualities, so I wanted not to like it. But here I am listening to it again for at least the 10th time. Maybe it is ok simply to like what you like!
I echo your comment completely. A thought I just had: "Why am I listening to this yet again?" Ha ha... Ola, you got me. We have a new phrase, my friend: "deceptive accessibility".
Was treated to a live performance of this piece just this past weekend by the So. Oregon Repertory Singers... what breathtaking music. And I love this stunning footage with it!
Gjeilo, you're a real genius! My choir sang "Days of Beauty" and "The Rose" using a new arrangement and adapting the songs for male and female choir, making spectacular videos with stunning scenery and views. Super idea.! This will be perfect with my photos of Antarctica from December.
There's something special about classical music and liftoff. It's like the all senses experiencing the same exact thing.
What's the name of the album?

I'm singing it for my senior year concert in a week. I hope it goes well!
As a sophomore in high school I’m so glad that we get to sing this and I’m glad other people enjoy it as much as me
I'm singing it as a senior as well! We're using it as a festival piece
@madladam Sang it this past year before I graduated- still one of my favorites
