I had an experiment quit social media and that was the greatest time of my life. Now I minimise the time I spent on social media and I am thinking to quit it again.
Veronica hope you are on the mend❤
As a photographer, it is really hard to be out of the system. Yet i am so convinced to quit social media totally. In fact i did it for about 1 year and felt great. And signing in again because of the fear of losing access to clients.
The video titled "Here's how social media is ruining your life (and how to deal with FOMO)" by Veronika Mark discusses the concept of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and how it is exacerbated by social media. Here's a summary of the key points:
1. **Recognize and Accept Your Own Priorities**: Veronika emphasizes the importance of recognizing and accepting your own priorities. She shares a personal story about breaking her foot and having to miss out on various activities, which led to feelings of FOMO. She suggests focusing on what truly matters to you and allocating your time accordingly.
2. **Limit Social Media Consumption**: Veronika suggests limiting social media consumption to avoid mindless scrolling and comparison with others' lives. She points out that social media often presents a skewed view of reality, as people tend to share only the highlights of their lives.
3. **Understand Your Triggers**: She advises being aware of the people or situations on social media that trigger feelings of FOMO. It's okay to unfollow people who cause these feelings, and it's important to understand why they trigger you.
4. **Practice Gratitude**: Veronika recommends practicing gratitude to shift focus from what you're missing out on to the wonderful things you have in your life. She suggests journaling about things you're grateful for when feelings of FOMO are strong.
5. **Embrace JOMO (Joy of Missing Out)**: Instead of fearing missing out, Veronika suggests finding joy in it. She shares how intentionally choosing to miss out on certain things can be a form of self-care and can make you a stronger, more resilient person.
6. **Take Control of Your Life**: Veronika emphasizes the importance of taking control of your life and not letting others' online activities influence your feelings or actions. She encourages viewers to stop living life through the lens of someone else's and start living it the way they want to.
The video ends with Veronika expressing hope that her tips will help viewers deal with FOMO when they experience it.
