    Budgeting takes time, not money.
My wife put a friend on a budget and they went from debt to $10,000 in the bank in less than a year.
Then it was gone. Spent on "School supplies" for their kids.
So you either want to save, or you don't care if you're in debt.
    It's a lifestyle.

I’m an uber budgeter. My financial advisor says when I retire, he wants to hire me to teach people how to save money 😊. Only one friend followed my plan and bought a house a few years later. 👍

Nobody is asking the right questions. I'm worried about retirement and want to maximize my savings. I've tried various investments that didn't work out as I hoped, and now I'm unsure whether to invest in the stock market or index. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    • @Raniyanhunter

The stock market is likely the best smart investment. However, if you are thinking of investing in the stock market and you are not well versed, its advisable to work with a financial advisor who is an expert to guide you through the process. this way you could make more profit with less risk

Agreed, I've always delegated my excesses to an advisor, since suffering major portfolio loss early 2020, amid covid outbreak. I'm now semi-retired and only work 7.5 hours a week, with barely 15% short of my $1m retirement goal after subsequent investments to date.

My CFA, Laurel Ann Watkins, is a renowned figure in her field. I recommend researching her name online; you’ll find all her credentials and everything you need to work with a reliable professional. With many years of experience, she is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.

I started saving for retirement at age 49 and decided to live like I did in college. I was divorced and on my own so I started at 40% of my income I was making 100,000 at the time. I discovered I could actually save more and over the last 17 years I went from $50,000 in savings to 1,250,000 and retired last week. I did not think I could do this and I’m still surprised I pulled it off. The Key is don’t buy what you don’t need.

Those percentages might work for those with a lot of time before retirement. Those with less time (or who want to retire earlier) should shift those percentages to resemble FIRE movement recommendations.

My reality was that saving $1000 a month for 30 years @6.25% I invested $360,000. Compound Interest was over $640,000 giving me a million. I was lucky because interest rates were higher back then, money markets paid 6%, bonds & CDs were higher. Unfortunately, $1,000,000 is now equivalent to a Walmart worker today, yields are so low Walmart worker makes more money that a millionaire. Try telling Walmart workers they have a millionaire lifestyle, they don't understand the math.

I've noticed that seems to be the problem with many of these Finance RUclipsrs. They have their target audience. They recycle the same messages/content after awhile.
As a loyal viewer, once you have things understood, you have to seek the next step (person) in order to grow I believe.

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of
information can be a big hurdle. I've been
making more than $200k passively by just
investing through an advisor, and I don't have
to do much work.. Inflation or no inflation, my
finances remain secure. So I really don't blame
      people who panic.

Persuading my wife to prioritize budgeting and investing required patience, but our collaboration has yielded impressive results. With expert guidance, we've cultivated frugal habits, made savvy investment choices, and watched our portfolio boomed significantly by $700,000. This milestone reinforces our commitment to long-term financial goals.
