It really should have some notable advantages over the competition for that price like a tin opener.😂... since there is an exzessiv amount of similar units out there right now💥
I do not have one, but I can judge through youtube audio, your review and of others' videos. You state that the amps are on par. Really? I think you kept back from saying that is the BEST of the best. So much clarity, depth, openes, fidelity,... I wish it would have just an fs & exp input and fix the realtime parameter change thing....
Does it have any cleans? I've heard only distortion. Can't say anything based on a review when the only sound is setup to chug. From my perspective I didn't learn anything about the unit. No jazz, acoustic, blues, how it simulates amp's breakup. Useless.
I love mine. Its so easy to get a good sound from all the amp models I've tried so far, both with an IR and running through a clean power amp into a real cab. I'm usually a Marshall guy but last night I loaded up the Mesa Mk IIC+, set it to the Metallica settings from Flemming Rasmussen's notes and it just wipes the floor with the Helix Cali MK model.
Thank you for review. Actually global master volume was added in demonstrated firmware revision. Press and long hold encoder and there will be master global volume adjustment. That way someone can not accidentally change master volume during performance.
I love mine!! I own Fractal Axe Fx units along with a Helix Rack. The core tones on this unit hang in with the aforementioned units if not better in some instances. The effects are maybe not in Fractal territory but they are pretty decent. The guys over at St Rock are excellent to deal with and responded to my emails in a timely matter considering the distance, US and Ukraine..
I like that thing, it's so compact and versatile! On side note, I own the stomp and the rush floor boards and I've utilized them on stage but they just don't do what my tube amps and pedals do so I have since relegated them to strictly studio use where they truly shine as they're just so easy to dial in a stellar recordable tone!
This looks like a VERY interesting option. So many options coming online but I like the tweak options they have built into this. Nice presentation...rocking!!!
Great review Jon! Taylor Danley said in his review that you can use the control button to control master volume. I’m seriously considering thus pedal for the great sounding amps and tweakability. Cheers man !
It sounds killer. Small enough to throw in your gig bag. The closer is it is only. $525.00 USD. As for the volume control issue apparently you have one but you have to turn it on. I forget how but is a hold something down or whatever and it will stay in the on position so you can use one of the knobs.
holy cow! Loved this. First modeler that the recto sounded like my beloved tremo-verb that I played for a decade. Had to sell since I don't play enough large stages anymore for 100watts of awesome. Thanks for this video, super excited to try this out. Any good Orange models in here? lol. guess I spoke too soon! posted right before the rockerverb portion. This thing sounds great.
I'm really considering grabbing one of these units lately. I don't need crazy amounts of effects BUT I do want the amps to feel right - been spoiled from playing NAM profiles of my gear for the past year.
John thank you for the wonderful videos. I am saving up for this unit because I want to record my band's guitar with it for our first EP. I am hoping to run this thing into my audio interface into REAPER into an IR. Do you think this type of usage will result in the type of high quality sound you talk about in this video? Thank you!
Being a 12 year kemper user and 10 years on AxeFx, in comparison this seems to nail the “real” thud (like my rockerverbs) which I’ve never found a modeller do through a cab (and every poweramp under the sun) despite endless great direct tones. with your expert experience on this and helix, which one do you think is the better achiever purely as an amp replacer of the two? (Your orange patch vids from both these examples are incredible, I wonder which has the upper edge out a cabinet?) Thanks!
I probably got old or something, but modelers no matter how heavy they sound dont attract me. I had them enough for a life time. I would rather use one real amp and settle with it. Simplicity and organic tone is where i feel at home. But you know you are into collection every possible guitar related good gear ever known to man kind. :)
Hey Jon, can we get quick clips of single-track mono dry on your demo tones moving forward? The stereo and in-mix examples are awesome and appreciated, but the context of single mono tracks would helpful for us to compare to what we are used to hearing when we practice alone. :)
Im having trouble getting the delay trails to actual trail when switching from solo to rhythm?? I engage the TRAILS ON button in the delay block, but it does nothing. I tried to get an answer from St.Rock but got no where. They replied "It would be easier if you send us the present" WHAT??? With the TRAILS button ON how does it not TRAIL (spillover) when changing present ?? Otherwise it sounds amazing. Putting my FM9 on a terminate vacation for live use. Absolutle War Band.
Hi John, I just received one of these units. I have a question if you could spare the time to a answer: did the IR you used was included in the onboard IRs from the unit? When I plug it into my PC, under the cab section, it only says "EMPTY SLOT"
Any chance you can speak to how it behaves when switching presets? My biggest gripe with the HX stomp is the hiccup between preset switches. Would love to switch to something else that doesn't have that issue...
Hola Jon, they sound very good, good up front, but I get the impression that the models sound quite similar, maybe the Orange lacks a little real character...
Latency is between 1-2.5ms, this currently is THE best on the market. Developers told that they are especially proud of that A quote from their website: Lattency : Input - Send : 1.3msec; Input - Output : 2.2 msec.
I'm kind of surprised you're getting those tones out of the Mesa and the Orange without some form of tube screamer in front to cut the mud. I guess thepick ups are doing that
Not to sound insensitive here but, these units are coming from the Ukraine, correct? Any idea what St. Rocks status is over there? Are they still in business? Website is always out of stock. Where can one buy one of these?
still not available here in germany, price is @ 500€, do you think its worth it and would you buy it for that price for yourself if you had no free unit for testing? cheers 🎸🎸
Hi Jon, I bought one a little while ago. Was curious if you noticed aliasing with the hi gain tones when holding higher notes? It sounds great on rhythms but have been struggling with solo tones due to this. Was wondering if it's something on my end or if someone else is experiencing the same. Cheers
I've noticed the noise gate can get a little weird sounding during leads if it starts to clamp down while holding a note but I usually loosen up its settings for lead patch anyway and isn't then it really isn't a problem
No it doesn't. And while I usually run dual amps with my helix I like the amps so much in this one I don't feel like I'm missing it. Plus it's quite a bit cheaper than the helix, quad cortex, fractal etc.
@ShredDead I don't think it's lack of innovation, it's processing power versus cost. It's a 499 euro unit. You want dual amps you'll have to pay for it
@@ShredDead You can mix IR's. Two per each channel. But preamp is mono only. For preamp section we used dedicated DSP. Not enough CPU power for stereo preamps.

I usually need the price first and then I'll look into the features to determine the value is worth the price
They need to make more of the React IR units, those are meant to sound great.
This reminds me of the atomic amplifire
Have you gotten your hands on a Friedman IR X yet? Dying to hear you review it.
I have not
That unit makes a plexi sound like a metall amp.
Its great if that what you want.

For just capturing Tonex, for amp modeling Amperium

Hmmm I don't play a lot of leads so I honestly haven't heard anything like that
@SonicDriveStudio I honestly love how it sounds. Have to figure the aliasing thing out. Cheers and keep up with the great vids.

I've noticed the noise gate can get a little weird sounding during leads if it starts to clamp down while holding a note but I usually loosen up its settings for lead patch anyway and isn't then it really isn't a problem
It desperately needs at least 1 expression pedal input, if not 2. That would've made it functionally complete imho.
The software looks exactly like Nux Amp Academy.
For me, I don’t personally care for how something sounds in a mix. It needs to be good standalone since I’m just a lone bedroom player
In that case, if it sounds good in a mix it will definitely sound good when playing alone
