Would love to see how close the Dual Wreck to the Knuckles going to a power amp. And maybe same IR from the normal output channel with IR loader pedal or plugin.
@@79who it would be even better if he used them with a dual recto and compared the two pedals with the amp, pedals in the loop using the amp power section with them.
I have v550 and I think that the problem with the pedal is the fixed Celestion IR which is mediocre and that's why it sounds kinda artificial-ish. When I plugged it into my cab through the power amp it sounded really, really close to the real thing, same when I used my favourite IR which I mostly used with my 5150 plugged to the loadbox. All in all these pedals are amazing but not out of the box instantly. Sure, build in IR can be used in FOH situation, but when I can use better one it starts to sound amazing. A quick tip from me. 😃 Aaah, I forgot - update the firmware to get better tones!
I have the Dual Wreck. Built in IR is decent. Works fine for live scenarios through FOH. However... I've been running it through my valve amp as a preamp and HOLY MOLY it makes my tiny little fender valve sound like an actual dual rectifier. Overall- great on its own, but elite when through an amp.
Played a dual wreck live direct through a PA the other day. Honestly couldn't tell the difference between it and an actual dual rectifier mic'd up. At home I plugged it into a neutral small valve amp I have and cranked it and it sounded incredible. If I ever 'need an amp' to play, I'll take my small valve amp with the DW as its preamp but going direct is fine.
I wish someone would Do a video on all the pedals that are based off a certain amp against each other run through a cheap solid state amp and see which one can sound the closed to whatever amp they are based on.
I have the v550 My thoughts: 1. Do the firmware update, it sounds much better 2. I wish I could load my own ir ,the stock one is ok ,but when you run an external ir it sounds much better 3. The boost is great if you have the gain on the drive low , ie around 9 or 10 o’clock . Turns it from a rock crunch to a high gain tone
I have The 550 and Dual Rec. They sound excellent in the clean channel of my Fireball 100. Very usable tones with further enhancement by my EQ and effects in the loop. I actually prefer these to my BEOD and Revv G4.
That 550 was my favorite, this inside an LS2 mixing some HM-2 must sound killer. Unless we have access to a Lightlaerm Medusa or DunnEffects Deathknob…
Liked the review but have to know if you used the latest firmware updates or if these were just straight from the box as the Anderson music review on the whole range seemed to put them all in a much better light.
They sound great. A little more work left on the video to properly compare them to UA. Why on earth did they use a Mini USB on the back? C'mon TC, buy new connectors.
How are you recording these guitars? It sounds like one recording split into 2 channels (left and right) and a widener on them or something... Please explain.
I had the Ampworx 800 an the 45. They were cool. But than I got the UAFX Lion and it blew me away. In my opinion these Ampworx pedals are absolutely no comparison to the UAFX stuff.
Do the pedals save your settings for when you switch to the 2nd channel or do you have to change everything each time you switch over. Would you need to have two pedals to keep the settings the same for each channel?
The Dual Wreck and 550 are definitely better sounding than UA's Knuckles and Anti (IMO, ofc). Not because they sound more realistic or anything, it's just that the Dual Wreck and 550 sound more mix-ready. Some people don't prefer mix-ready sounding amp sims and IRs tho. UA doesn't have a JCM800 pedal so there's nothing to compare the Jims 800 to.
@@VelhosNovos Yeah, I'm aware of that, but I think it would be nice to be able to change the IR on the pedal itself thus eliminating the need to have an extra pedal (IR loader). Also a DI on top of an ABY if you want to use IE as well... or even go through an amp's FX loop/poweramp. The direct output the pedal has is literally just in case someone's desperate, which is a shame as it's basically useless in a live situation and also forcing you to reconsider your ampless rig and pedalboard space.
@ That's exactly why I intended this comment! The leads always show a different perspective of any music related product and it also sounds good when you do it! Keep it that way bro!
Hey man can you make a tutorial how you load your OwnHammer IRs? I use the Pulse plugin but there are so many IRs on the package I bought I dont understand anything especially with the Hz. And most of the time they sound Fizzy. I use a jcm 800 studio
The 800 sounds really good, captures the spirit of my vintage 800 combo. Also worth noting, I will never buy another UA product because of their needlessly Using their corporate platform to spout off about cultural issues.
Maybe save up for a Theta and be done with it. Rectifier sounded Ass, garbage Wow! I can see and feel You disappointment and I was kinda bated for it was not a shootout. I’m assuming UA for 250$ More or 399$ Asking I would pray does better. 550 and the Dual Wreck sounded weak, Digital, and lifeless as Well as the 550, at least You were able to dial in.

DUDE. I was literally scouring youtube YESTERDAY looking for a shootout like this and couldn't believe nobody had done it yet. Thank you for this!
I would want a shootout between each of these and the UA Lion, ANTI and knuckles. To be fair the Lion is a plexi and not a JCM800, but still

the knuckles is a rev C, this is a rev G, but still would be a cool comparison.
@@NicholasMausIsn't the knuckes based on a rev F? It stands on the pedal.

i boost the dual wreck with a king in yellow, and it sounds like it’s coming outta of a engl xxl cab because the engl cab loader is so amazing!

PT Black Ops. I recently reviewed it on the channel
