Hi Leon, saw Michael Nielsen's vid on this and was looking forward to yours. Love the sounds but I'm an amp/cab guy, so how would you link this up with amp/power amp and cabs?

Imagine something going wrong at a gig and you need to quickly change something on a unit like this, rip. the thing with all this profiling/capturing stuff is that i havent seen many artists use it. after kemper which nowadays very few players still have, they mostly go to component based modeling like helix's and fractals. i myself never felt nice with having only a "snapshot" of an amp rather than a working model of it
Capturing really makes sense to me if you've got something you really like the sound of and just want an easy way to take that on the road. it's so easy to get great sounds using component based modeling nowadays though.
@@LeonToddexactly. thats why i think ppl used the kemper a lot even though it did little else well and it was a very clunky platform. nowadays if you have a robust and well thought of component based modeling system like FAS you can get any tone on the planet. plus when you want to pull the gain a bit down it works like an actual amps knob
It is indeed impressive but Modelers are like the way home PC's were year's back where they kept being redundant very, very quickly. With this unit what also concerns me it comes from a country at war where disruptions in any business are the norm. The company could vanish by zero fault of their own. I get by with a Plexi ,an attenuator and some analog pedals. I keep waiting for the obvious. A standardization to do what MIDI did. A box where we buy whatever sounds we want in software from a multitude of companies and download what we need live to that box on the floor which could be very inexpensive. .
Every patch you've played seems to have some kind of low level digital distortion or clipping going on. Even the cleans have a tiny bit of "buzz" or something in them. Is that the Amperium or is it something in the signal chain (maybe YT)? Very cool that this unit has effects. That's what I've missed in the Tonex and have gone back to my FM9 and Kemper for live work.
2.2 ms from the input to the main output. With loop 2.6 ms (latency from the input to the send, 1.3 ms, plus the same latency from the return to the main output).
@@LeonToddquite expensive for the "mini old style" display on the hardware, compare to ampero, nux , headrush etc. but in my opinion for the basic amp tones that you play in this video, clearly this device is above them all
As you Leon, can make any modeler sound good, your crowd can identify the premium tones that Amperium delivers. It is a shocking good modeler, beating the giants in their face, but the 2-3 design decision misses of this Version 1 hardware, will keep sales low. The device is characterized as "Live" but with no Main Volume, External Exp/FS, bad screen and bad onboard user experience, it is at the "Desktop" territory. They must rush to create a Version 2 hardware in order to keep that "Live" character and take a good portion of the new era of modelers that is coming.
Genie is out of the bottle. Everyone will have to offer all this in order to compete. Best time to be a guitarist. I have a TONEX on my "before Christmas" list..Now maybe it's this. How long did it take to make a capture? Thank You for the video and Best Regards and Best Wishes!
@@LeonTodd Tried in Reaper. After figuring out it was asking for the capture NMM file, I DL'd some. You get Input, Gain and Output to fiddle with. No EFX. That's what threw me initially. ToneX only has built in reverb whereas this has dedicated modulation/delay/reverb/drives and component based amp modeling, so while it's more expensive it also contains a lot more features
If I try ANY amp, all I want to hear is the heavy metal sound. That's the hardest thing to replicate. After that, you can dial in anything. I'd like to hear a metal sound from ya hear but I appreciate that's not your style.
This might interest me some more if they weren't from Ukraine. A, not sure what duties/taxes would apply as I am from the US, and B, not sure what to do if there is a repair needed or what to do if it gets lost on the way to me. Either way, interesting item.
If thats how much effect they put into the "graphic" (those silly EVH lines) - then its definitely not killing anything. Looks awful and everything else is probably low effort and shoddily done too.
Wow! Seems like there's a new modeler dropping every day. Can't keep up. The technology keeps moving forward. Sounds really good. I expect AI will take this to the next level. How would you rate your Boogie capture compared to the real thing?
St. Rock also make a FREE capture VST so you can capture your own amps and try other captures - www.st-rock.com/vst/

My question also, hardly anyone demonstrates this...and for my it is one of the most important features..
Have anyone compared this unit to the HOTONE Ampero stomp? Both are $499 but the HOTONE has a better
layout like a master volume on the unit!
Dude, I'm selling my Tone-X asap. Can't wait to get my hands on this box. Just sayin
I'm curious what latency this device has. BTW Nice presentation!
input-send 1.3msec, input-output 2.2 msec
Price?
the thing with all this profiling/capturing stuff is that i havent seen many artists use it. after kemper which nowadays very few players still have, they mostly go to component based modeling like helix's and fractals. i myself never felt nice with having only a "snapshot" of an amp rather than a working model of it
Capturing really makes sense to me if you've got something you really like the sound of and just want an easy way to take that on the road. it's so easy to get great sounds using component based modeling nowadays though.
A box where we buy whatever sounds we want in software from a multitude of companies and download what we need live to that box on the floor which could be very inexpensive. .
Hi Leon. How is the latency feel when playing compared to other modelers?
Don't have numbers on it but it feels fine to me
Thanks. Your reviews are definitely some of the best out there. Cheers!!
Bought one. Noticed quite a bit of aliasing when holding high notes. Did you notice this as well?
Every patch you've played seems to have some kind of low level digital distortion or clipping going on. Even the cleans have a tiny bit of "buzz" or something in them. Is that the Amperium or is it something in the signal chain (maybe YT)? Very cool that this unit has effects. That's what I've missed in the Tonex and have gone back to my FM9 and Kemper for live work.
fm9 weighs a ton (
How’s latency?
I'm really curious about how much latency this one have. It seems almost perfect.
2.2 ms from the input to the main output. With loop 2.6 ms (latency from the input to the send, 1.3 ms, plus the same latency from the return to the main output).
@@LucifdeLutherWhoa, good numbers.
Damn man, this thing rock and have a lot of feature / amp inside , how much ?
499 euro
€499.00 on their website.
I don’t see this beating tonex. Tonex works without a physical unit. Companies need to head that direction.
There is already Amperium NNM plugin for loading neural networks. I.e. main functionality of ToneX.
Genie is out of the bottle. Everyone will have to offer all this in order to compete. Best time to be a guitarist. I have a TONEX on my "before Christmas" list..Now maybe it's this. How long did it take to make a capture? Thank You for the video and Best Regards and Best Wishes!
They've got a free software version you can try out! - www.st-rock.com/vst/
@@LeonTodd Tried in Reaper. After figuring out it was asking for the capture NMM file, I DL'd some. You get Input, Gain and Output to fiddle with. No EFX. That's what threw me initially. Very nice sounds. Thanks for turning us on to this new tech! I wish Ukraine well.

Thanks for heads up..something to watch! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
I just got the vst and almost all of the models available are from Tonex lol
Is there a way to hook it up with an amp?
Yeah just use the fx send
@@LeonTodd could I use the fx send and connect that to the input of a power amp? Just not sure how it works.
yes indeed. or take the xlr outs and plug them into a power amp with the built in cab modeling disabled @@Meairdah
@@LeonTodd thank you for the info. Thing sounds killer.
Nice DEmo!!!
*And they are using the Moorish science for protection purposes.. 🙂Notice the SIDIL graphics over it!
Can you just upload NAM files and use those models?
St. Rock... $535.22 US
Tonex... $399.99 US
Not including tax or s/h.
PVP; Tonex Wins!
The customs limit in the USA is 800 USD. So no taxes for you. Parcels send with the track number and have insurance. And we provide the warranty! -)
@@stRockOfficialwhat about the EU? Have you had any experience of sending to Germany and what amount of tax is charged from it?
@@stRockOfficialwhen will you have stock again please?
If thats how much effect they put into the "graphic" (those silly EVH lines) - then its definitely not killing anything. Looks awful and everything else is probably low effort and shoddily done too.
Wow! Seems like there's a new modeler dropping every day. Can't keep up. The technology keeps moving forward.
Sounds really good. I expect AI will take this to the next level. How would you rate your Boogie capture compared to the real thing?
Technically the capture stuff is using AI on this, The Boogie capture is really close IMO!
Please remind me what was killed by ToneX that now it serves it's own killer? 🤦♂️
This isnt as user friendly to me as my tone x and I think it looks kind of ugly in comparison too unfortunately
