- I decided to make some changes to the sleeping arrangements in my pop top. No longer do I have to cart around a massive mattress and/or sacrifice my sleeping comfort with a mattress that is ok... I think I have now found the one.... Enjoy everyone and have a super fab weekend...

I bought one of those Duvalay toppers - game changer!
Just nicely back from a hiking trip to Corfu, not much hiking as Barb broke her toe just before departure so we mainly just chilled out, blummin hot though 😂😂👍
Colin you’ve massively disappointed me being the worldly wise, well rounded man that you are, have you never tried jam and cheese on the same sandwich!

For anyone thinking of getting a pop top mattress or one for their rock and roll bed, there are plenty of alternative matress options in the comments section from our awesome subscribers..
The community is strong with this one as sleep is super important and comfort can be the difference between a good sleep and a bad one and it can make the whole camping experience much nicer with a good nights sleep.

I use the berghaus SIM great but a bit pricey also Colin it’s recommended not to use your breath to blow up as its damp I use small pump to inflate a bit😊
I use an Outdoor Revolution Top Of The Pop 75 SIM "upstairs" and a CampinComfort RIB 112 mattress topper on the RIB R&R bed "downstairs" from Edge Campervans. Both really comfy and highly recommended. Often sleep better than at home ( as long as I remember earplugs...)
I also made the extra piece of carpeted board to fill the "gap" which works great in my Vamoose pop top. Nearly 7' of length now in a SWB T5.1. Makes a lot of difference to be able to have your feet vertical as the Vamoose is quite tight at the foot end otherwise having rear hinges ( also no lost pillows in the night ) ! Enjoyable vid as always. 👍

We bought an inflatable mattress early on, killed my back after a couple of nights. We've now got a double memory foam mattress from Edge Campers which we keep up in the poptop and is very comfortable, plus it takes up no space in the van.
Love the video, I sleep on a rock n roll bed and found it much too hard.
I bought the Duvalay gold mattress, and the difference was night and day.
You are 100% correct, highlighting the importance of a good night's sleep.
I hated the duvalay,,,,felt like I was tied up.
The Thermarest Mondo king is the best camping mat I have ever used with amazing thermal insulation R-value =7 great for cold nights. More expensive than trail but worth the extra ours is around 10 years old and still like new.
Fantastic vlog as usual Colin. I use a klymit static v luxe 30” wide air bed in the pop top which stays up there, so comfy. More cycling vids please, requested to follow u on Strava. Atb 🚴♂️😀
I have a mountain biking episode coming soon (probably about a month) so keep an eye out for that... And I'll definitely be going out on the rodie again in future videos with friends too ;)
Was hoping this would solve my problem but seems you might have the same issue. I recently had the idea of just putting an airbed up in the pop top. I figured 12V or battery airbed pump could stay in the van. Comfy and would deflate so that the pop top would go down easily. Unfortunately I ran into the issue that it raises you up too close to the pop top to get your feet in comfortably.

Use a small battery pump instead of breath to avoid moisture and bacteria getting into the mat.

That is excellent advice. Never occurred to me all the nasty you might be puffing into there.
Forgot to add if you use one where the nozzle can be fitted on other side of motor they can be used to deflate which would be much easier than rolling, especially in the pop top.
You need a flex tail to pump that up. They are brilliant little gadgets
@@suewheeler5795 yes those pumps look great I would go for the airbed one rather than the sleeping mats version for the extra flexibility.

Not sure a full double would fit in the pop top but a rock and roll bed size mattress definitely would and then would work for both the pop top and the bed downstairs ;)

Ah thank you, yeah I think it's the way forward re: RUclips.... I find it annoying when watching other videos that are either stealth adverts or "here's the sponsored section" I've been guilty of it in the past (I was like ecoflow col 😂😂) but now it's onwards and upwards, only items I've bought myself will get reviewed. Don't know how you sleep on a single mattress. I tried one and a topper.....just too narrow. The one I have now is made for the T5/T6 and fits from the big cupboard to the side. So much better now. In the poptop it does touch the canvas so couldn't store it there unfortunately.
In the wrong job, animal impersonator would surely suit better 😂
Also hate crossing through cows, especially when they decide they think you’re interesting and follow along 😮
