Thicken & Change Color of Paths in Photoshop (Path Options)

  • Learn how to change the color and thickness of vector paths within Photoshop. This is not a lesson on stroking paths. Details below...
    Patreon: / michaelbullo
When drawing paths in Photoshop using tools such as the Pen Tool or the Custom Shape Tool, the default line is blue and quite thin. This can be particularly problematic when drawing over the top of something like water.
When using vector tools a series of vector specific options is displayed across the top of Photoshop. If not visible, these can be shown by choosing the Options entry within the Window menu.
The options include a cog icon. When opened, this menu will reveal options for changing the color and thickness of vector paths.
The color and thickness of vector paths can also be changed from within the Preferences. On a Mac, these can be found in the Photoshop menu. On a Windows machine, in the Edit menu. Within the "Guides, Grid & Slices" section is a Path section that contains the same path color and thickness settings.
