I am in love with Rebelle. It's so fun to use. I have used everything, including Photoshop and Corel Painter 2023, on my iPad Infinite Painter and Procreate, and Rebelle is my absolute favorite.
Great review Daniel. Love seeing you paint the picture of your wife. I whole heartedly agree. Rebelle is amazing and getting better and better each round. Love your style and watching you paint
I unconsciously made the switch to Rebelle 6 after using ArtRage since 2016, version 4 i think Since Rebelle 6 was released i dont even open ArtRage anymore I mostly do oil paintings that ArtRage is known for and considered by some to be the undisputed king but Rebelle has caught up and even surpassed it imo Very excited for the future of this software and hope they make it available for Android and IOS soon Also amazing videos as always 👍
I definitely feel like Rebelle is an art program that has a very good forward trajectory. It could very well turn into my one and only art program down the line. I haven’t picked up Rebelle 6 yet because I already have my bases covered with the full suite of Adobe, Clip Studio Paint, Artrage and Rebelle 5. Clip Studio has been my favorite all-around art application, but it’s starting to get overloaded with features I don’t want/need, so I appreciate a more specified toolset and focus. Thanks for the review.
CSP is a solid program for certain styles of digital painting. I would not go so far as to say its a traditional media painter. ... That said, yes it is very good software in its own right.... outside their new subscription model BS with V2. I know more than a few people refusing to upgrade past V1 (myself included)
@@johnkon2810 I would agree with that. I have never cared for traditional painting, I don’t like the mess and care/storage needs of wet mediums. I really only *paint* digitally, so Rebelle offers a great digital painting experience without the fuss. I like exploring a variety of “mediums” and styles and I really prefer separate apps that are really good at certain things, but also love when projects can be ported between apps easily if I’m looking for a mixed approach. Some people like the one-stop-shop applications but inevitably I find the user experience becomes cluttered and clunky.
Was patiently waiting for your opinion on this! Glad you took your time getting familiar with it before putting out a review. Super excited to start using it now. Would love to see some Rebelle 6 specific tutorials or studies, as a beginner it’s super helpful to just watch your process. Specifically I’d love to know your workflow on achieving dramatic lighting, or building correct perspective. I also think it could be really interesting to see your take on some different digital art styles that are out of your comfort zone, like the popular anime styles that are usually gain lots of traction on social media. Either way glad to see you upload again!
Thank you for your review, Daniel. I agree with you completely. As I said on another occasion, Rebelle 6 Pro is my go-to software for digital painting and drawing. I find everything I need there and I love how easy and intuitive the tools are to use.
your teaching skill is very nice. I bought your digital painting course entitled 'digital portraits with a traditional style in Photoshop in Domestic. I expect from you complete courses on Artrage & Rebelle.
Hi Daniel ... how are you? Feels like forever since you made a video. Good video. Happy to see you're finally seeing the potential in Rebelle I always seen. Granted I have a powerful PC, so lag is never a issue unless I'm working on a B1 poster size image for printing. That said, I hope you'll cover the differences between Rebelle & Rebelle Pro. I highly recommend the Pro version. #1. The paint mixing is outstanding & the extra $$ will go a long way, for those who want to truly mix their own colors & those learning to paint digitally, coming from a traditional background, &/or still do both like us. #2. Nano pixel. This is very demanding on computer hardware. However, if you paint a image that's 4x6 or 5x7 inches, you can easily blow it up to a poster size (A1 or B1), without having to use upscale software or plug-ins. This has a added benefit for those working on a Surface Pro device also. Daniel, if you don't have the Pro version, please trust me on this... get it. Hope you & the family are well. Btw, I did see your Artrage article/tutorial in Imagine FX. Well done. - Cheers mate
Thank you. I have a lot of thoughts and will be eager to share them in a future video. Thank you as always for the depth of your thinking on digital painting
Daniel, I love your channel, mostly I have see all videos specially regarding Artrage. I noticed you have not posted any videos for almost a year. Hope you are going to start posting videos on Artrage again
I have the 6 pro version Amazing software replaced everything I have ( art rage, procreate photoshop clip studio procreate Corel painter infinity painter and the list goes on ) Thanks for reviewing it before Pushed me to buy it with no regrets
Yeah, if you only get one natural media painting tool, this is it. It's the closest thing I have found to actual painting. Was impressed with the bezier grid transform tool too. Reminded me of 3D modeler transform modifier tools when I was a game dev.
Daniel! So excited to see you are back dropping knew content on us. Looking forward to see what’s to come. I’m very interested in picking up software that does “tradigital” art well. I have Photoshop, but as we know there are hoops that have to be jumped through to get close to that look with PS. Sooo… I’m going to put you on the spot and ask… If you woke up tomorrow in an alternate reality to find yourself living in an artistic dystopia where you were forced to only use one painting software, between Art Rage and Rebelle which would you choose?
Hi Daniel, I noticed in all these paintings that you do not have the Pigments mixing mode turned on (in the Layers panel). Have you tried it yet? It gets some amazing color results. Also noticed that you used the warp tool. Have you tried the new Liquify tool (under the Smudge tool) ? It's incredible. I really enjoyed this video... thanks!
I noticed that as well. Knowing that he loves and uses ArtRage, and knowing that ArtRage already had natural-looking color mixing, I figured he'd be all about the Pigment feature in Rebelle. I really wish Rebelle would have this feature automatically turn on when you open the program...or at least give you the option to have it turn on at the start.
Hey Daniel! I was wondering if you had any tips for color variety without using color picking? I paint digital fantasy things a lot and often have a hard time getting good colors.
Still the glitchiest app I've ever used on a Mac. While you're on many tools just moving the cursor makes the canvas zoom in and out, jerky movements all over the place, the canvas turns. Then there's the cursor disappearing and you have to move it around like crazy until it suddenly appears again. Lastly, of the main issues, as there is plenty of little quirks too, the space bar to move around the canvas doesn't work around 20% of the time. You have to start clicking like crazy until you get lucky. Have patience if you want to use it.
I've never used an Apple product on desktop. I love the iPad but I've never used the Mac for digital painting. What hardware are you using (ram cpu etc)? I am trying to get a feeling for people's experience. Also, what version of Rebelle are you using?
I have taken your Domestika class. Great course, thank you, I learned a lot, and now it is time to practice! :) I could not find the Rebelle brushes, which are supposed to be included. I have bought Rebelle 6 Pro, and I would love to try your brushes. Did I miss something?
Thank you for checking in! I am glad the class was helpful! I only just recently put the brushes in the class forum. There is a thread topic for the brushes :). Let me know if you can't find them!

I’m new to the traditional digital painting, got my rebelle 6 and feels like the basic brushes need some tweaking. Would be really nice to see a video related to the topic from a pro. Thank, you.

We just were able to install version 6.1.4 on a very fast computer with a ton of memory. The program keeps crashing and freezing. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
We downloaded the program and are very excited about the features. Our program keeps crashing and now it won't let me into the community forum. etc. We can't even download the latest version. Any suggestions? THANK YOU!
hello sir, your artwork is simply immense & tremendous. I would like to purchase your Rebelle oil painting brushes specifically. If you don't mind, can you please help me with the direct link? highly appreciated your cooperation. Take Care.
rebelle is great except for one thing, the brush creation system and tweaking is very basic and just not as intuitive or say everything you tweak there is the same thing, hard to make a good brush in rebelle no matter what you tweak or do, thats the downside of rebelle and the most important thing for an artist, thats why rebelle isn't up there with photoshop and clipstudio paint yet.
Would love to get a video about how you change the tools to your liking, like you did for artrage oil brushes. Thanks Dan❤
Good idea! I'll definitely do a video about brush creation next. I already have one almost finished
