one thing you gotta say about blizzard.. they make some pretty weird gameplay decisions sometimes, but they always know how to make the perfect mood music.
Shadowmoon Valley: so much history, conflict, memories. When I entered the zone first time back then, with my orc warrior, I swear it felt like I came home. The music describes the tragedy and lament of the orcs. Seeing the edges of the Black Temple in the distance, with infernals falling from the sky gives me goosebumps to this very day.
Those voices all we hear in my opinion are Akama's voices ! The sorrows of Akama ! How Their once beautiful land had turned into The most demonic...diseased...torn apart...plagued...blighted...corrupted... place in warcraft universe the first time the corruption came from the Fel orcs and MAGTHERIDON - The lord of outland but then Illidan came replaced Magtheridon and his slaves with Akama's help and when Illidan become the lord of outland he destroyed it one more time i feel sorry for Akama!
@torsnn Yeah really, you'd think the demons who are on a warpath throughout the universe and created the Scourge would be a bigger threat than Arthas and the undead...
@Virgilx711 agrred its perfect for him but BY FAR the most fitting is ice crown i shat myself when the music kicked in and ice is just perfect for Arthas.
Netherwing Ledge had a different tune, and most of the eggs were in the cave. This theme just brings back awesome memories of swooping across a shattered radioactive wasteland on a nether drake.
The middle part of this track is truly chilling. The voices of thousands of tortured souls, trapped in the very fel-tainted soil itself - orcs and draenei alike, crying out for an absolution that will never come ... this is what the Burning Legion does. Utter annihilation and an eternity of hell.
Great music, remember just hitting 70 and buying the flying mount for the very first time, then raiding karazhan etc, then doing heroics... good times.
this music is absolutely STUNNING. it makes me feel so nostalgic... the track is incredibly inspiring as well. I love to listen to this and draw... it's so great when you're trying to draw a dark monstrous creature or a tortured landscape. (I wonder why? haha) Thanks for putting this up; now i can listen to one of my favorite TBC songs of all time!
Crap, also, there is a very sad piece of composition when you enter the alliance base, i think it plays after the first song which is the one i'm trying to find (orchestra sounding one)
Destroyer120296 what it shows is how cool and powerful fel magic is able to transform ppl into warmachines this is how glory is born im glad to see these felshaped epic landscapes instead of the pussy ass draenei infested shit
This music takes me back... I've only been playing since december '08, and it took me a while to get to outland, and that was even as a death knight but... Outland. It mattered more. You could look to the sky and you would see infernals raining. Now WoTLK is great, but im asking: Can WoTLK beat demons raining from the sky?
@eearie I remember first coming to the Howling Fjord and being completely awestruck. I had to upgrade my RAM on my laptop to fully enjoy it, and am glad I did. But I have to say that Outland is pretty cool. My favourite (Canadian spelling) place was Hellfire Peninsula, personally. I just LOVED walking through the Dark Portal into HP with the aura of chaos and cataclysm all around me. Nagrand was good too. Hated BEM and zangarmarsh.
@DarkCreedNinja Netherwing quests had one of the only fun quest chains in the game. You know the one were you have to race all those people on your flying mount.Damnit why didn't Blizz make more quests like that...Oh wait because noone wanted a challenge.
@torsnn I'm not sure why someone would negative your comment, as its merely your opinion. In some ways I agree with you. I quit WoW a couple of weeks ago and have been surviving so far. Anyways, I don't blame you for liking BC over WoTLK better. As I've posted above, along with aboymadeofweed, stepping through the Dark Portal was EPIC. Hellfire was great. We'll see what cataclysm is like, I guess. May go back in the summer.
@JAL924 i think its Fel Lava from the world being so corrupted by demons. It seems to me like the Outlands are infected and bleeding from terrible wounds.
@DarkCreedNinja Nope, just 5 days of doing the dailies. Its piss easy nowadays what with all the rep increases from lvl 25 guild perks etc. Make sure you do the normal questlines you get as well and you'll have it done easily
well, I still have the whole soundtrack ripped somewhere on my external, By now, it must be full 24 to 48 hours of ambient music, and if you cut out all combat music and small orchestral "stingers" you could waste yourself for a full day in nice moody stuff. BTW check out the Starcraft 2 Music as well, not the official OST, but rip it, you will definitely find something to your liking
@timbo81 Cataclysm is too instrumental orchestral type of music. I wish they would consider how WoW is a fantasy world, and that soundtracks such as this put more emphasis on emotions and atmosphere of the specific zone. Its so important infact that I never could enjoy Cataclysm 100%. Its like hearing violins 24/7 World of Warcraft:Cataclym: There will be Violins... lots of em!
Oh boy, farming for epic fly mount and then for netherdrake...Took forever but the reward was actually worth it. Love the atmosphere of this place, the wails of mourning, demonic presence and fire raining from the sky...masterpiece
Interesting you should ask. The theme song is about the orcs that degenerated themselves in moral corruption and greed by pursuing fel demonic magics with Ghul'dan leading them. It left their lands ravaged and in utter destruction. So the song sounds a bit like an orc lamenting over the loss of their home and their civilization. So i imagined in a sense that orc also representing some future resident of western civilization. You can almost hear an orc cry in the background.
very true with AI, targeted marketing, deep learning people are being manipulated psychologically more than ever to milk money we all have a kiljaden in our lives with constant eye of kilroggs watching us. Freedom for eternal vigilance.
Have you ever even fucking played MoP? At first I thought wow was gonna suck because of the Pandas. But when I tried it out and went to Pandaria, I fucking jizzed myself.
WOTLK crap? That's your opinion! I think it was a great expansion with great lore, updates and raids. Not saying anything bad about TBC, but WOLTK was awesome.
This place was a bitch to get around without a flying mount, but I quested there early simply because it's the most atmospheric zone in all of WoW.
The days of 60% flying mounts, ahhh the agony.
Waking up from one nightmare into another hahah
TBC is THEY expansion where u never get bored and where the raids are truly hardcore!
Just flying into this zone was one of the most epic gaming experiences i've had
The zone that made pickpocketing a deathsport.
What a beautifully haunting music. It really made Shadowmoon Valley one of the most captivating environments in all of WOW!
one thing you gotta say about blizzard.. they make some pretty weird gameplay decisions sometimes, but they always know how to make the perfect mood music.
the music can be best described as post-apocolyptic
This music just brought back bad flashbacks of nether egg farming.. the horror ._.
Now its just somebody that you used to know.
You can understand from this song Illidans feallings .
lvling up through wow, that was my goal. to ride up to the dark portal and step through it. HF did a great job of introducing players to outland
Those voices all we hear in my opinion are Akama's voices !
The sorrows of Akama ! How Their once beautiful land had turned into The most demonic...diseased...torn apart...plagued...blighted...corrupted... place in warcraft universe

dont you get it? 2 million left, moving it down to 10 million.... and it is STILL hovering around the 10m mark...... -_- not many subbers came back...
2:40 Illidan is singing with the demons, through the Shadowmoon Valley, on his Black Temple.
The vocals in this make me shiver...
There is nothing else like this music in the game. No zone music can put me in such a mood as SMV
I think the vocals are what make the song so great
@Virgilx711 agrred its perfect for him but BY FAR the most fitting is ice crown i shat myself when the music kicked in and ice is just perfect for Arthas.
Even the Soundtrack of TBC was just brilliant...
Netherwing Ledge had a different tune, and most of the eggs were in the cave. This theme just brings back awesome memories of swooping across a shattered radioactive wasteland on a nether drake.
I liked playing this video when in Orr in GW2.
The middle part of this track is truly chilling. The voices of thousands of tortured souls, trapped in the very fel-tainted soil itself - orcs and draenei alike, crying out for an absolution that will never come ... this is what the Burning Legion does. Utter annihilation and an eternity of hell.
Fuck that was deep man..
The music and Shadowmoon Valley remember me home.
...and at last to a thunderous applause of music for Illidan.
this zone was so immersive
Lonely...hatred...haunted...the darkness from he's blind eyes....this..is so....pure....
Wotlk is not crap,Northrend was one of the best experiences I ever had in a game, the music, factions and the cold land itself is amazing.
Great music, remember just hitting 70 and buying the flying mount for the very first time, then raiding karazhan etc, then doing heroics... good times.
Amazing music. I remember it blowing me away the MINUTE I heard it few days after BC release. Definitely not nostalgia for me :D
this music is absolutely STUNNING. it makes me feel so nostalgic... the track is incredibly inspiring as well. I love to listen to this and draw... it's so great when you're trying to draw a dark monstrous creature or a tortured landscape. (I wonder why? haha)

As the Draenei say, what happens in Shadowmoon Valley, stays in Shadowmoon Valley.
Sad when you compare the beautiful and enchanting shadowmoon forest to this hell.
IT really shows what fel magic is capable off, and how low the orc really went.
Destroyer120296 what it shows is how cool and powerful fel magic is able to transform ppl into warmachines this is how glory is born im glad to see these felshaped epic landscapes instead of the pussy ass draenei infested shit
+skykid Makes me wish they put the same kind of effort into WoD as BC.
I rather like the burning Fel-underworld version better.
@@RandyOrlok Ability to speak doesnt make you intelligent
I remember doing quest here, to me the music felt very much like military music.
I think he Wanted to mean: "The wow I liked to play. " With Bc feeling of course.
BC was the best, every zone had a unique feel to it especially shadowmoon. the eerieness and evil stirring in the cold dark distance.
Please, does anyone knows where I can find music which is playing inside of Warden's cage where are Ashtongue and Akama resides..?
I always thought that dude groaning throughout the song was Akama
This music takes me back... I've only been playing since december '08, and it took me a while to get to outland, and that was even as a death knight but... Outland. It mattered more. You could look to the sky and you would see infernals raining. Now WoTLK is great, but im asking:

It has a native american feel to it. Haunting. Love it and the area in-game.
@eearie

1:38 - 2:25
2:42 - 4:10
4:41 - 5:40
6:06 - 7:15
9:06 - 9:40
These parts make me meditate...and Shadowmoon FTW, the best territory in Outland.
Those voices all we hear in my opinion are Akama's voices !
The sorrows of Akama !
Grinding for my Netherdragon... Totally worth all those hours.
Don't worry.
People will be too busy hating on the people who like MOP.
Cata may be bad but MOP is going to put 'PHAIL' to a whole new level...
3 months without Worlf of warcraft & i'm missing it :SSSS
i think im gonna play again :/
This music really feels tragic, just like the fall of the orcs
@torsnn Yea that expansion was very epic. i remember the excitement of outlands, i still like questing there.
@JAL924 Corrupted lava might be more accurate. But yes it will burn you if you touch it if i remember right.
lol still better than any other MMO, and I love it. Played since Vanilla, and it's only become better
@Inforcas To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, either. I'd say a mix between some ooze, and slight acid :P.
The Burning Crusade... Simply the best!
sounds like star wars music for the sith. but thats just me. i miss this zone and its music :(
I agree, but I must say northrend looks more beautiful than outland anyway, so that makes it a bit more okay :)
@DarkCreedNinja Netherwing quests had one of the only fun quest chains in the game. You know the one were you have to race all those people on your flying mount.Damnit why didn't Blizz make more quests like that...Oh wait because noone wanted a challenge.

True, true.. I recently hit 90 and I find it impossible to do anything worthwhile on my druid in PVP until I have the gear.
Draenei dude joke: "What happens in Shadowmoon Valley, stays in Shadowmoon Valley." XD
WELL. I'm not sleeping tonight.
Netherwing grinding=RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE
c'est magnifique.
Dont argue with these people, its unhealthy. I love WoW and it will always be my favorite game...Ugh some people just don't understand..
Oh, the nostalgia.
Awesome description,mate...
this music reminds me of playing doom on the playstation. Then again thats what the ps doom music was.dreadful echoing moans and a dooming overture.
My.. homeworld..
@DarkCreedNinja Nope, just 5 days of doing the dailies. Its piss easy nowadays what with all the rep increases from lvl 25 guild perks etc. Make sure you do the normal questlines you get as well and you'll have it done easily

this is powerful stuff icecrown's music is just anoyying
@timbo81 Yes it does, these guys no not get noticed at all. They are problably one of the best new age writers, and yet, they only get 30-40k views
this is fucking creepy
@BolvarFTW Yeah, 5 days of PLAY TIME.
this is my favorite place :)
@Milda47 I think in the next exspanion they should take the fight to the *Real* Burning Legion homeland.
Hopefully that will happen someday :3.
@timbo81

I have, but the game has improved on a PvE basis.
outland = fucking epic win
looks like a fel version of Mordor and mount doom
Oh boy, farming for epic fly mount and then for netherdrake...Took forever but the reward was actually worth it. Love the atmosphere of this place, the wails of mourning, demonic presence and fire raining from the sky...masterpiece

good timeeees
The theme song of Western Civilization within a very few couple of decades.
3 years ago I would have called you insane, oh how much has changed.
very true with AI, targeted marketing, deep learning people are being manipulated psychologically more than ever to milk money we all have a kiljaden in our lives with constant eye of kilroggs watching us. Freedom for eternal vigilance.
Get over yourself, fucking edgelord.
also draenei, they got mass slaughtered there too :(
oh and Karazhan :P (best raid ever)
Wotlk raids are facerolls excluding ulduar when it came out
This is the most evil place in wow EVER, Icecrown GO HOME!!
This shit is just the best. What else is there to say?
agree, but WOTLK was amazing too
@timbo81
great post man
start reminds me of icecrown
well said!
Have you ever even fucking played MoP? At first I thought wow was gonna suck because of the Pandas. But when I tried it out and went to Pandaria, I fucking jizzed myself.
69-70 was a shitty grind!
feeniiiixxx seerrrvvverrrr
WOTLK crap? That's your opinion! I think it was a great expansion with great lore, updates and raids. Not saying anything bad about TBC, but WOLTK was awesome.
