4:14 is it a boat? Is it a submarine? No, its a mini cooper
5:16 finally a bmw driver that didnt floor it and destroyed their engine
I highly suspect that the water made its way to the interior through the gaps between doors and chassis
@@merthacoglu4908 I don't think so, the newer more expensive cars have double seals, so with enough time water would have gottent through, but in such short notice I wouldn't expect more than a few drops.

At this depth you might as well call it "Cars Driving Into A River Compilation"

That Audi and BMW drivers have more sense then the lorry drivers! And that's saying something..
It's like a log flume, they just float after the big splash! Pity they don't have underwater tracks pulling them out 🤣
8:31 - Did you know, the New Defenders actually have a 'Wading-Feature' specifically for this scenario - and the car can 'Read' the depth before it enters . . . . how clever is that?
'Big up' the Land Rovers/Range Rovers
Just put the air intake as high as possible...because of these LR features nobody wants them after they are 5 year old.
@@aanttila867 they already do put the air intake as high as possible. But that won’t help you if you don’t know how deep the water is…

4:08 - That Mini propelled through the ford with all the power of its exhaust engine
Oh the humanity...

I get so much pleasure watching these . lol

Don’t these people have a council to build a bridge?
Hello rac, I am stuck in a Ford in a fjord in rufford
Did those big truck guys had a pea for a brain?
Not as many idiots as I was expecting in this vid, was impressed with the Toyota Forklift van. Brilliant as per.
my yotas have the air intake located fairly high, i bet that van is similar. helps that the driver isn't completely daft
I live about half a mile away, these idiots just keep doing it. I wonder how many have been sacked for killing company vehicles.
What's the significance of the road? If it's flooded are you stranded? Or can you take a longer way around?
Sure is a stupid decision if you can go around. Even the people that make it are still going to end up with water under their carpets... Not really a smart decision, besides the off roaders that know what they're doing.

They drove very well. I suppose it is a lesson in 'don't judge a book by its cover' or more appropriately, 'don't judge all drivers by their cars'.

The whole car was floating the front wheels were spinning
Bpbpbpbpbpbp😆
I was yelling “go on little mini go on.... yay!” For those few short moment it’s was the bravest little boat on the whole wide world.
People should know about the fording depth of their car. Most SUVs don‘t have more than 50 cm ( which is about 1 and a half foot). I own a RAV4 and would not even consider going through that ford. Besides, I looked on Google Maps and you only loose like 2 minutes if you go around that ford.
That's when you buy a fake suv like hyundai venue
Your are the only sensible one my friend 😁

i drive a 80 series Landcruiser with a 6inch lift on 35inch tyres it has a snorkel with diff transfer dizzy and gearbox breathers all extended into the snorkel all electrics are sealed and coated with spray and i still avoid things like this if can be avoided the biggest problem is that roads can wash away and you never know how deep it can be unless you wade threw it first and yes i take my 4wd bush every 2nd weekend doing hard core tracks and big water crossings
Although Land- and RangeRovers tend to do well the person risking it in the SVR shocked me.
I was amazed they got through
The air intake is still in the same safer location as other LR/RR models.
@@matthewp9015 The SVR is tested in water to 2.7 feet and the other models are about 2.9 feet... If you look on the sign next to the walkway it indicates that the water is about 2.7 feet... That is risking it 😆
Fair play to the range rover for towing that truck out!
You can imagine the RR owner proudly telling his bemused family what he did that evening!
Main reason why the Traffic Officers all drive large 4x4s. They can tow a lot if needed - even big articulated lorries.
@@nickbates7645 that’s not an artic though?
Easier to tow something that is floating 😜
It was an empty 7.5 ton truck though, they only weigh in at 3.5 ton empty that's only a ton heavier than the Range Rover.
With the water depth clearly showing its only inches away from being 3 feet deep! only a vehicle equipped with a snorkel should consider it, The others who manage it are lucky fools..
Agree 3ft is madness!!!!
A lot limp off further down the road to find a place where their vehicles can die peacefully.😪
Even the new Defender is only 18" in stock form. Christ, thats a puddle.
@@dartmoordave The new defender is 900mm / 3ft.

You know, as an American I never really understood what the slang term 'numpty' meant...I do now.
Rule of thumb for passing deep water : When the car starts floating, the water was too deep.
The Mini driver would disagree
... also too late
the mini driver will laugh when he see's this comment..
@@userjlj Thats fine, he will stop laughing when his car develops interesting smells and high humidity next summer, and ice from the inside next winter.
@@urgolf1974 What got in can also get out. You know car interiors get soaked all the time without issue? People leave windows or sunroofs open in the rain, people walk in repeatedly with snowy boots and so on - just because it gets a bit wet doesn't automatically kill it like the old cars.
Especially true of cars developed with a convertable model in mind - such as that Mini.
Its also doubtful a lot got in anyway since it kept floating until the water level was pretty low.
The depth marker says 3 feet. VW - hold my beer! Hilarious!
Round of applause for the MINI for using the exhaust as a pump jet 👏
I think it was more like using the wheels as paddle wheels....
3:23 That Toyota surprised me, I think that's either luck or brilliant engineering.
Edit: 4:08 That mini was lucky too!
The Toyota van seemed to get the bow wave right.
The Toyota is just a rebadged Citroen, probably more luck than anything. Small engine so probably the air intake is inside the engine compartment rather than near the grille, just didn't get enough water in it to matter.
The mini is unbelievable, super lucky idiot there.
The mini! It was floating. Air intake must be high up.
Its PSA rebadged
Lost its front bumper
The red Mini was a big surprise. Revving the sh*t out of it while frontend was submerged but it made it through!
I suspect the revs went up in proportion to the depth of water in the footwells. Doorseals aren't meant to keep water out when the car's submerged.
Lol the engine probably locked up next day
Same I have the same generation mini and the intake is only about 2.5 feet off the ground.

Who goes through that going fast while driving a SVR! lucky it survived
The plank in the Ford Ranger has no clue how to drive a 4x4 ,most probably cracked all the front end plastics and killed the engine
You've gotta love the Audi Allroad. Jacked the air suspension up to it's highest setting and sensibly forded what is very deep water for such a vehicle. 10/10
Audi - driving well 😱 I couldn't believe my eyes as well!
@@nothingsurprisesmeanymore same for bmw behind it lol
Just like the Defender
he's probably already killed one engine in the ford...
The water had shallowed by the time they made their attempts. You can tell because most people had left by that point. Earlier in the day they'd have been going too slowly and lost momentum.
I love the videos! A lot of people seem to lack the most important thing we humans have ...common sense. Its even more funny when you realize that there is a large, clear and obvious depth sign that is easy to spot and faces both directions! I am curious though, when it gets this deep where cars are floating ... why don't the local officials close the road?
FINALY the answer! I used to have an AUDI allroad and was asking myself: AUDI allroad on high and then slowly.... should work. Right?
Right.
This video is illustrating quite well how invincible our modern vehicles make us feel. Although these clips are entertaining to watch maybe, it is also sad that we appear to have have lost the largest part of our common sense self-reliance. Up to a level that it becomes an ignorance based plain stupidity.
We use machines that we have no effing clue of how they work, but we are making rather large decisions whilst using those... it is a dangerous development, evolution-wise ...
It's what is all too common today, this is me and I need to go there!
as we have seen many times, stupid overrides tech every time
The stupid give their body over to the state for scientific research! Millions of people have willingly accepted the unknown chemical injection without question!
Now they fall down and crack their dumb skulls and then scratch their head asking what happened!

Don't warn them, just film them, humanity cares more about hits than helps these days
When even a lorry can’t make it through… 😂
I was working on a fleet of milk tankers in the 90s. We lost a number of Scania engines fording water because the engine fan was connected to the crankshaft. When the fan blades hit water, the inertia broke the crankshaft. Not sure if modern Scanias have the same design "feature" but it should have otherwise made it through there. Heck there was even a BMW made it as well as that Mini. Bonus points to both of those.
The newer Scania’s have low air intakes mounted just behind the grille on the right hand side. That one in the video would have definitely ingested a lot of water.
@@TheSooty1975 Thanks. That was one very expensive mistake then. Ouch!
@@mrsquariel you’re welcome. Unlike the Scania 3 series in the 90’s, that had the air intake on the R/H side halfway up the back of the cab, newer models come with the air intake where I described earlier. There is an option for a high mounted air intake that looks similar to the one on the current Volvo FH4, or in Australia you can go twin filters, and have a “Donaldson” intake stack like you see on most US trucks. Generally though, most operators opt for the standard set up, as they don’t plan for the vehicles to wade though windscreen depth water…!
Great video! I was surprised the Mini survived :). Keep up the good work!
I like how it says "Road closed" and shows that the water is nearly 3ft deep and they still drive on to take their car out for a swim

I hope the people with the snorkels know that they need to install a transmission vent tube also. Or they are gonna have transmission problems because the transmission needs to vent out hot air and take in cool air.
Yes. They know.
Transmissions don't have vent tubes??
They're just a metal box full of oil, two shafts with a buncha cogs, and a couple forks to move them around
Unless the car has an automatic gearbox, but I can't imagine that'd be common if the car has a snorkel, as is probably meant for going offroad, and wouldn't have an auto in that case

Mr Rufford Ford is Back!!!
Haha you do realise cars have a tow eye right? No need to pull it by the windscreen 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would really appreciate if you could film a flooded car in garage and show what has to be done for repair.
And I would like to know if insurance is paying for the damage or if they say: No, because sign on street shows "street closed". Your fault!
Normally liquids could not be compressed and the engine piston breaks, if water gets inside. But I can not belive that all the cars who drowned in the river are messed up. So, what are the consequences for the cars an driver?
Thanks and keep up filming!
If you put many of the car registration plates into the gov.uk vehicle checker from previous videos- you will see them SORN or MOT expired - indicating that they have been taken off the road- probably insurance write offs.
Why should the insurance company pay? Very few insurance policies cover self-inflicted damage.

07:13 Thank God for that - someone that has put the snorkel on the vehicle the correct way! At last. Most of the idiots that buy and fit them put them so the opening faces the front. That means rain and water splashing up goes straight down it. Pointing back means no water splashing in or getting in when the vehicle is driven in rain.
So you’re saying Ford, who build the Bronco Everglades with a factory snorkel from the factory, have it wrong? It’s facing forwards but does also have a panel to minimize water ingress.
@D2M5 kind of - but it shows the “correct way” as described by the OP isn’t that correct at all, you just need to have a quality snorkel design. The ram-air effect of a front facing snorkel can’t be overlooked either.
Suffice to say those running mushroom type snorkels are fitted wrongly doesnt matter how they fit it eh? 🤣😂🤣😂
