Thank you for this. My 2018 V6 Sorento will not start, just clicking noise from relay area behind battery, Battery is fine and fully charged. What is the best way to determine that it is in fact the starter and not a relay before I buy a new starter and go through the replacement process?
Is there a negative or ground cable that needs to be connected? Because i just replaced my starter and it made a weird noise and smelt a little burnt? But all I can remember was plugging in the connector and tightened the power cable on. And that was it.
I’m not sure you’ll see this BUT I have this exact year and model with an intermittent issue. Battery tests fine and we’ve checked relays and fuses. Hoping this does the trick….praying.
I have this same car. My issue is that when you turn the key, it will do absolutely nothing for 2-3 seconds, then starts perfectly. No crank, no suffering. This ONLY happens on the colder winter mornings. Nothing on the summer. On extremely cold days, it just won't start. I will connect a jump start and it will start effortlessly. Probably not the starter but cables? thanks
Mine started to do the same thing than yours until I drove to a town in the mountains with -4C and didn't start anymore. Problem was the starter. Mine is a 2017 Sorento.
This guy is showing exactly how this starter is a pain in the ass. Great job. Thank you
Thanks! Been looking for a V6 video for a while. Great job!

I can't believe you literally just changed the starter with one hand While I struggle to change a battery terminal with two hands 🤷♀️
It happens!

Best way is take it off and have autozone check it for you!
Was it the starter?
Kindly let us know
What was the diagnosis?

No, maybe you got a bad starter.
@@mysterygarageCA you were right it was faulty! I went to a salvage yard and picked one up for 55$ and it worked like a charm!
@@Kpena92 great!
Would a 2019 work the same way would I have the access to it from the bottom like this
@@mannyalvarez4016 I think it should?

@@TheUnsilentMajorityBigmo-ev8sr it should
@TheUnsilentMajorityBigmo-ev8sr I'm having same intermittent starting issue. Did replacing the starter work for you?
@@lcopp5068 yes
@@lcopp5068 it did. I think the solenoid was probably the problem, but it was such a pain to get to it I went ahead and swapped the entire thing.
@@mysterygarageCA I gotta tell you that I truly appreciate your video. I really helped.
Great video!!!
Thank you!

@@Zacknorris-d5p I live in Alberta. The winter here is pretty cold. I have appointment tomorrow to change the starter. Thank you.
Update. It's been 3 weeks now since I change the starter. We started having colder nights. -10 etc. The problem appears to be gone.
@@RafaelPernia nice!
How I can send you a video from my sedona ? Is making funny noise. I replaced my started and still have the stupid noise.

How many milles?
I don’t remember.
@@mysterygarageCA thanks
If you have the 2011 / 2012 V 6 its nowhere as easy as this however still possible
Yes it is
I’m having a hard time taking the connector out
You have to press and pull it out. If not, remove the starter bolts and see if you can turn the starter around and try to disconnect them after
14mm, 12mm,10mm.. always say the tool sizes,
Next time.
Good work
