Thank you, this was exactly the help I needed! I have been looking for instructions on this for years now and could not find any. This worked on my 2018.
Thanks so much, you saved me a lot of time and headache! FYI mine is a 2015 Sorrento and it was exactly the same, for anyone in my shoes. Now to figure out why the shifter is sticky.
Ours got very sticking because the cable was in rough shape where is goes into the transmission. Hosed it down real well with WD40 and then some grease and it’s been great ever since!
Thanks, this video was very helpful! I was able to work on my car in a parking lot and get my car home. The part cost $9.00. It would have cost a fortune to have it repaired at a dealership!
what part? i need to fix my 2014. Its stuck in reverse on and camera stays on. The gear will move with something in shift unlock but still shows "R" on dash.
Thanks for posting! Helped show how the front console with the 12v power can come out. I'm trying to run the car-play usb line out the back or bottom. Good job!
i'm trying to do the same thing in my 2019 kia. but not able to pull the cover off (the part with the cupholders). everything pops off except the corner nearest to the P on the gear shift. a little scared because I found a used center console for sale on ebay that is cracked in this same location - so i'm thinking maybe that one corner doesn't pop off for some reason.
Did you manage to do it? Im looking into hiding the wireless android auto dongle inside the car, but also need a way to access that usb port for updates to the infotainment
@@slayloxx How did you route the cables? Im looking into hiding the wireless android auto dongle inside the car, but also need a way to access that usb port for updates to the infotainment
On the 2016 sorento, all you have to remove to get at the shift lock is the top piece with the cup holders, on the right side of the shift lever, there is a white plastic lever that blocks you shifting, just push it forward and tape it or secure it down permanently and you will never have this problem again !!!
Hi Omar, helpful video. Thank you. Would you able to show how to replace the centre console air vent for passenger in Kia Sorento 2020 model please? Thanks in advance
What part did you have to replace to fix the shifter issue? I searched the Google and there seems to be no Shift interlock solenoid for a 2016 Kia Sorento.
Thank you for this video Good Sir. I was looking for the same info you provided. Although I have a 2014 Kia Sorento, I'm hoping its similar because 2014 was the first year of that newer model and styling line up.
The dealer just diagnosed it has a Defective BCM as it not communicating with the brake pedal but looking at it i doubt it seeing that nothing else is worng
That’s great Btw where is the airbag module ? Do you have to do this or is there an easy access ? I can’t see it in the video Can someone help me please
BTW I had to replace the little button array behind the shifter, and you do not need to remove the screw shown at the start to pop this panel. Just need to work around it w a screwdriver and pop it out, trying not to scratch it. The front left corner is the toughest but it is not screwed in.
when you say the front left corner is the toughest, are you talking about pulling the cover off (the part with the two cup holders). we took this off almost completely but the corner closest to the gear shift seems likes it's screwed in. scared to break it. are we talking about the same part?
If you lose credit cards and money through the swivel door area of the center console, watch this video. I figured it out, and recovered my disappearing cards & cash. And mostly, DO NOT OVER FILL THAT COMPARTMENT ANY MORE OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR CARDS LIKE I DID!!
I actually lost a lighter down my steering wheel column then heard it drop behind the little compartment. Stuck my camera in there and I have like 6 lighters sitting there. Project for today
@leroysalas9833 I personally feel we should all class action the manufacturer Kia for the emotional distress suffered during these annoying events. These were all avoidable design fk ups.
Omg thank u so much it worked like a charm I had to pay for two tow now WAS GOING TO B 3 NOPE THANKS TO UR VIDEO I PUSHED THAT BITCH OUT 2012kia optima💪💪👍👅

This worked on my 2018.
My phone slipped into the front part of the console 5 years ago and this finally helped me get it out!
Thanks just got my 2017 and needed to see how to take apart the console👍🏽
Thank you for the video. Helped me remove top console to replace electric parking brake switch module. In and out in less than 15 minutes.
You had made my day! My USB lights are not working and this will help isolate the problem.
How did you solve that? I have same problem.

Great video, i'm a bit sad the second part is no where to be found
9/10 times for 2016 it winds up being an ecm issue
Good job on the video, thank you for showing that. Very helpful.
Just happen to my wife Kia and I troubleshoot it down to that solenoid. This helps a lot am trying not to break any clips.
Hello Alano. this happen to me too. can you give me some instruction in replacing the solenoid?

Just viewed really helped.
Did you make a video on the removal of the shift lock solenoid.
Thanks for your help
Did you ever record the other video where you replace the failed part on the interlock?

Is there a solenoid?… or its just the plastic piece going out it’s place? for the brake stuck problem…
Great job! Very detailed information. Thank you!
Thank you!

Im gone remove the console, cut for the middle to put a Boombox with a subwofer 8" down 😅😅 later thankyou flr your video.

Tucson 2018??
I'm betting it was not the Solenoid. This issue seems to be caused by the body control module in the 2016 Kia Sorento. Very expensive fix.
Thanks for the video
HI...I have a Kia Sorento 2016 SX... can anyone tell me how to replace the gear shift knob ?...thank you
Pull up. That's all. See Crowtown Auto youtube
