One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is a great One Piece game, and though it wears its many flaws on its sleeveless, red button-down top and straw hat, its smart additions to combat go a long way in reducing the notorious tedium that typically plagues the musou genre. It's still a tough sell to a non-One Piece fan, but as someone who absolutely loves One Piece and was only just sort of into Musou games, I found a ton to like in Pirate Warriors 4.

Despite everything that has happened in the show for me Eneis lobby arc till this day is the best arc in the whole show. Almost every member of the straw hat crew has an opponent who is in a way parallel/similar to them. Its like watching them fight their evil versions. Plus they get to save Robin and Lucci is one of the most dangerous, smart and stylish villians.

I didn’t expect that. Unfortunately I’m completely over Muso games, but I’m glad that anime game was enjoyed and got an 8.
even though its a musou game there is actualy quite alot of boss fight like and story events then your regular warrior games... also as a big One piece fan it is quite nostalgic even though many characters i wanted to see even if in cutscenes only arent in the game.
This Mitch guy is one of the only unbiased reviewers in ign especially in terms of anime games
One Piece fits the Warriors genre so well because a lot of times in the show the Straw Hats take out hordes of enemies effortlessly.
Absolutely it looks exactly like in Manga/Anime when you smash 100s of enemies with Ruffy!

I love the game so far, I’ve literally been playing it for hours everyday and am gonna get those DLCs. I’ve never played the first 3 but I’m kinda glad I didn’t cuz I’m completely fine with just this one.

Pirate warriors 3 was a fantastic game that I've played the heck out of since april 20 but it seems pirate warriors 4 filled in the void that made 3 feel like it was missing something. Thanks for this review so I know whether or not pw4 would be worth buying!

A musou game getting an 8 is pretty damn impressive actually.
It's by far better then pirate warriors 3 I love this new edition to the one piece franchise. Playing as Soba Mask is probably the funniest thing I've done in a game in years.
The amounts of enemies is pretty cool.

The re-used assets may not be new, but they look like they've been touched up or maybe even remastered, so such assets don't seem so bad if you don't focus on them.
I’m a huge One Piece fan and was super hyped when 4 was announced that I was counting the days. My only disappointment was the lack of new characters/cut of current characters that were featured on 3. I really wanted some of the characters from Dressrosa, Zou, Whole Cake arc including the Donquixote Family (So many devil fruit users would’ve been very interesting to play) Pirate Alliances (still glad we got Bartolomeo & Cavendish but wish there were more), Inuarashi and Nekomamushi, Big Mom Pirates(Also so many devil fruit users that would’ve been interesting to play). Honestly there were so many unique characters I hoped were added to the roster along with the previous characters that were NPCs but were featured on the series like, Don Krieg and Captain Kuro as well.
FYI I’m not whining and crying about the game. The game still looks amazing don’t get me wrong. I just don’t understand why One Piece has the most amount of characters in the history of Manga/anime ever, comparison to other Manga/anime but can’t or won’t be added as much when it comes to video games. They say the DLC’s going to come out so I’m hoping at least there will be some interesting NEW characters.
P.S. They should’ve kept Kuma/Moria/Perona/Caesar/Garp/Magellan/Enel. But hope these won’t be the DLC characters

For those of you wondering if you need to get this game. If you already own pirate warriors 3, then dont waste your money on this. You can literally do everything the game has to offer in 3 days, it's that easy and bare bones with content

@wejdan naser make sure you are offline and have a second controller enabled. That way you will see the option to select 2 player by either pressing the playstation or xbox middle button. Cheers

I guess they didnt want this game to be Pirate Warriors 3 v.2. So there is only a few arcs but several missions in them, so I like it that way too

It’s a great game boys don’t let the pvp stop you from playing the game, if you want to play with your favorite characters it’s worth it, it’s a mousu game not a arena fighter so take it as it is and you will be satisfied 👊🏼

I see people fight in the comment lol I pre-ordered the delux editon of the game and I enjoy it and love it don't force anyone to like what you like it's not going to happen everyone has a taste different from one or another so if you like the game so what if someone said its trash or whatever let them say 💭 what they want and what they think. I played all of one piece pirate warrior series and its the one of the best anime games I have ever played.
They could have added more costumes faithful to the anime like Zoro having his dressrosa disguise costume and sanji having his red cape outfit on whole cake

This is the only game I've played and grinded to get the final boss as a playable character and they remained just as OP as they were as a boss (Kaido and Big Mom)

Burning blood is the best.
Huge fan of the series and ran though the entire story mode in a day(thanks quarantine). I’d give it a 6 or 7. I really did enjoy my play through but it is very mindless and repetitive. I’d really only recommend it to fans of the series. This was also my first game of this style since Dynasty Warriors on the psp so the combat system felt fresh to me. I can see how someone playing these kinds of games could quickly become burnt out from this style of game.
All games are repetitive. Plus it's far from "mindless", try playing as Marco while playing "mindless".

Been a fan of the Pirate Warriors franchise but I really hate how the devs are inconsistent with the character outfits. I mean they finally put Zoro and Nami's OG outfits but they didn't give Usopp his brown outfit. Can't complain on Robin's outfit because it's the best one. This game definitely is an improvement from the past 3 games. Another thing is the color-based label on enemies. Like every main enemy is RED and YELLOW so even if the Marines wear BLUE pants officially, it changes to RED or YELLOW. As if we can't determine if the Marines are the enemy because they wear their official BLUE pants. That's just me being OC. 🤷🏻♂️
Funny thing is the opening scene of this review is exactly where i am in the anime😂😂😂
Something that would make this game better is being able to make your own levels like I’ve always wanted th make my own level based on luffy excecution and all the people who would come and rescue him

@@codebreaker4087 agree with u for 20 years one piece anime has had overused sound effects terrible pacing and pretty bad animation and now the funs are stating it's the best anime because now it looks like you can actually watch it(after 800 eps)
