- Amazing set of Jethro Tull Music by the legendary guitarist who originated it and when they performed this song it was pure magic. The lead singer even resembles a young Ian Anderson!
Martin Barre has always been one of the best rock guitarists out there.
@@francoistraversy4604 It's not supposed to be Jethro Tull. Anderson's band without Martin is not Jethro Tull.
@@francoistraversy4604 he didn't even say that duh.... he was complimenting the guitar play duh..
Actually he is good but nothing exceptional by today's standards.
@@RM-lv9ngtodays guitar players stand on the shoulders of yesterday's greats.
@@RM-lv9nganother thing to consider is the fact that the players you are comparing him to aren't in their 70's
The best part is how much genuine fun Barre is having. I always thought stylistically he is a great guitarist and this tells you how much of Tull's iconic sound was Barre.
I always thought of him as being rather underrated. Of course there were a great many iconic guitarists in that period. JT was also a little quirky too so maybe they didn't resonate as broadly but still to this day I love them. So essentially British ... and nobody has made a flute a central musical focus in a rock band ...before or after. So thankful to have been there when they were in full stride. God, how I love music.
C’est pas faux
C'est côtelette que vous comprenez pas ?
Vocalist is definitely channeling Ian Anderson, which suits this song perfectly.
I met Dan a couple of times and he said he wanted to do it justice while making it his own without straight copying Ian. I think he succeeded.
He overdid it, but a good performance anyway.
I thought he was doing a great impersonation of Phil Collins.
@@Cigarsnguitars I always hear him as a cross between Cat Stevens and Ian Anderson, but I do hear the Phil Collins, now that you mention. I'm just glad Barre has found a solid vocalist who can actually carry it, some of the vocalists on his previous solo projects have been pretty disappointing.
Even sorta looks like Ian. Same form factor etc. Like a brother or something
You just pulled me 50 years back in time, now my face hurts from smiling so hard! Thank You.
Amen, brother!
Same experience here my friend give or take a couple of years 1 minus a couple of years would be more accurate LOL some of them so many times in the seventies
I saw Jethro Tull in 1969 in San Antonio and they were the back up group for Led Zeppelin. We almost didn't let Zeppelin play
Ditto! about 50 years... Goosebumps here. Fab Thankyou
Singer is perfect for these songs.
he mimics Ian pretty well but the flute will always be missed
SORRY, IAN ANDERSON SPIELT BEI AQUALUNG KEINE FLÖTE,OK.!!😂😮
A classic performed as it should. A master still kicking ass after all these years. What is not to love here?
My thoughts exactly
@@thomasborger6548 This is fuckin excellent 👍
Any other singer could have done this like most singers would probably do, but, this guy sells the song using insight to Ian Anderson's performances. Great performance! Iwouldn't have liked it any other way. Thanks for this good prize for the day.
Yeah singing was better than i thought it would be
Dan is a great singer and helluva guitar player as well. Super nice dude.
Couldn’t agree more. He did a nice job.
Ian can’t even squeak a sound out last I saw but yes he was one of the iconic greats
Saw Jethro Tull in Atlanta sometime in the late 60s early 70s. Great concert
Martin Barre another one of the great rock guitarists of all time. Still playing a mean guitar.
Not TOTR&R
I was pulled back to 1971 at Cobo Hall in Detroit watching Jethro Tull perform this song. Wow!
What the heck was I doing then ... That I missed that !!!
Class act for over 50 years!
Good Lord, I was rocking at 15 years old again! My Les Paul is hanging within arm's reach of my workstation and I played along as best I could. Martin was and is a guitar hero of my well but misspent youth. Thank you!
me 2
Nailed it. Great song from a stellar album, top to bottom.
Love Martin Barre! 👍
LOOKS LIKE A PRS FEST!
That's what I was thinking..
Bassist Alan Thomson is playing one now too.Hopefully Paul R. Smith gave them to them.
And a pentatonic fest
PRS guitars have an amazing finish, even in solid colors, Martins guitar the finish is so deep it glows, you can always recognize a PRS even before seeing the headstock, the finishes are just phenomenal. Plus they have a fantastic sound and tone.
Unfortunately sounds like one too ... terribly scooped things they are.
Martin - there is only one Jethro Tull guitarist - at his best
Never too old to Rock and Roll!!!
I saw Jethro Tull back in 1971 at the Spectrum in Philly for the Aqualung tour.
This singer complements Martin very well. Thanks for sharing.
Close my eyes and don't listen too closely, you'd swear it was Ian Anderson!! Great tribute to his voice and singing style!
Martin is awesome. Lead vocals are right on.
Oh my!!!! I so miss Jethro Tull... Thank you Martin for many great years of frickin rocknroll!!!
I saw JETHRO TULL 9 times “in the day”.. this BLEW MY MIND and took me back to my teens and 20’s..thank you for the MEMORIES! MARTIN BARRE’ was always under appreciated in my book.. AWESOME GUITAR PLAYER! 💖💞💖💞🫵🫵🫵🙏🙏🙏🫣😵🥰
Martin on great form, as ever. Band tight. And the singer was AWESOME.
[And for the guitar geeks, beautiful PRSs]
I wonder in the PRS folk are shouting that from the rooftops... Seems to never have the coolest Pros playing their stuff ...
Also, What model PRS is Barre playing ??? (wonder if its got $500 pickups )
@@WilliamJOHNSONJR I would if I could lol
@@WilliamJOHNSONJR Sssssshhhh lets keep PRS our lil secret
As as a lifelong tull fan . Saw Tull many times. I affirm this is a fabulous performance !!! Thank you Martin . Be well
Better than what Ian is doing these days
Great performance all around. Always loved Martin's guitar playing.
Saw Tull on my 21st birthday Nov ‘78. This band sounded great!
By any chance were you in Toronto that night? I think Tull opened up for Queen. What a concert that was!! This performance is spectacular!! Martin will be 78 in November!! He still plays like a powerful virtuoso! Amazing!
@@secheltboy - The L.A. Forum. Uriah Heep opened.
Stunning performance by all members of the band. This is Barre out-Tulling Tull.
No holds Barred!
Don't care much for covered song and care less about cover groups but the guys I grew up listening to keeping their music alive is an exceptional treat ie Martin, Steve Hackett, Peter Frampton (even Ozzy), etc. Thank you guys for keeping us young and thank you Thomas for posting this...
This band is amazing , the singer is awesome !
Well they nailed that one!
the singer doing his best impression of Ian Anderson.
True, he is good, but where's Ian Anderson In all the fun🎉??
That sound he gets out of the guitar is simply marvelous. Singer is great too.
That and TUBE amps makes it happen!
I've been to a lot of concerts over my 71 years, and I would still place a Jethro Tull concert at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis in the early 1970s on my top-10 list, and that's really saying something. "Aqualung" has always featured one of the great solos of all time, and I'm glad to see that Martin Barre is still rocking along. Thanks for sharing this. Great singer, too!
Absolutely one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. The same could be said when it comes the acoustical guitar play of Ian Anderson.
Underrated?!!? RUclips will fine you each time you use that word
Great work and Martin is indeed one of rocks finest guitarists 😍
Martin looks healthier now than he did 50 years ago…amazing
I saw Jethro Tull back in 1978, in Memphis TN when I was stationed there in the Navy I was right in the front of the stage awesome show
,,,,,soundtrack of my life ,..........tnx,,Jethro Tull......,,A-PLUS.
Quite an honour to get to do this song with it's original lead player! I'd be Agog!
Superb on every level. Thank goodness for Martin Barre & company! Hell yes!
100% great performance! Credit must be given for uploading this masterpiece of musicianship. Thank you.
One of the best tunes ever and very well done.
brings me to tears from another glorious time!! my FIRST BEST powerchord!!!!!!!
1st concert I ever saw was Jethro Tull, Thick as a Brick tour. I was in the 9th grade,it changed me forever. Martin was one of the best and still is. Rock on Tull fans
My 4th ever concert was Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick in '72. I was in eighth grade. They had the most exciting stage show. Very theatrical.
My 2nd concert, Thick as a Brick tour, '72, my freshman year in H.S.
HOF
Please listen
S@@robertcowart1one of the greatest concerts EVER we are so lucky🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
WOW !!!Martin has put together one hell of a band !!!!
Stellar performance!
The Mighty Martin. Excellent. Fantastic. Bravo.
Sooo glad to see that Martin is willing to still play this iconic song. And the singer is doing a better job that Ian is now days.
My very first concert was Jethro Tull at Cobo Arena Detroit. It was a life changing experience to see such a tight band with such charisma.
Great version of an absolute classic.
THANK YOU Martin!
What a great band barre has put together!!!
Seen Martin 4 times in the last 2-3years he’s awesome
Wow that took me back about 50 years ago man that was great!!!! God bless you Martin Barre!❤
Martin plays like he's 20 yeas old!! Phenomenal!!
This was always my favorite guitar solo from the era, it’s perfect and it SO fits the song. I was in high school when Aqualung came out, drumming in my first band. We couldn’t do Aqualung because no one could play that solo! But it was a great time to grow up in, musically at least. Wouldn’t trade it for any other. I saw Martin Barre play this live in February 1975 with Tull in Minneapolis and he sounds just as good today, almost Half a CENtury later! ✌🏼Rock on!
That PRS sounds so awesome!! Marylanders are so proud to see Barre playing these fine instruments
Still loving it after all these years.
I saw Martin with Jethro Tull at the Seattle Coliseum in 77 I believe. Great concert indeed.
My first concert in 1976. What a banger!
A very respectable version chaps! We are transported to the poor old sod wandering lonely!!!
Great to see Martin play.
Saw Tull in 1971, and in 1991 and Mr. Barre still has his chops.
He still got it!!!
Amazing how many of the old school greats have switched to PRS guitars.
Perhaps . . .
However, the answer why may be rooted in the "sponsorship deal" Paul and PRS has offered those "old school greats", many of whom are out there and still playing to support their retirement years. The influence of the PRS and other gear manufacturers marketing machines are influential and powerful entities.
Vocalist nailed it
Mr Barre is the real deal .. true control of guitar and amps throughout the decades … just listen to the 70’s live JT recordings … few could match him for timing and control
Martin Barre among the top half dozen guitarists in Rock N Roll history!!!
Btw, kudos to the bass player of this video as well!!!
Martin Barre very underrated guitarist 🎸 one of the best . Superb rendition of one of my favourite Tull songs and what a solo 😊
Always loved Martin Barre!! Definitely one of my favorite guitar players ever. And a huge inspiration for me picking up the guitar
One of my fav guitarists.
Man, o man. This guy sounds just exactly like the original singer on this.
Saw Tull do Aqualung 11/15/71 at Boston Garden - the Guitar sound blew us all AWAY - still remember the telephone on stage on the piano ringing mid set a Ian answering it ! we had seats on the floor about 5 rows back !
yes yes the telephone on stage !!!! that was insane!.. its for you!! 🤣😂😅
Remember when Ian said “here comes mother”, and a hot babe came out in a skimpy swimsuit ? I was there too…..
@@jayarbee3804 OMG I do now 50+ years later - THX !
Glorious! Just energetic and glorious! Cheers JP
Great job! Anderson, would appreciate this
Fantastic Mr. Barre, refreshing to hear real artistic guitar playing again from back in the day.The hell with all this added computer crap, you are the real deal!
The Music Fest was great . Barre was great . John Anderson and his band were unbelievable. So good
Martin Barre is just still awesome. The man knows how to play and rule at it.
Saw Jethro Tull in 1970 with Fleetwood Mac at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. Fantastic performance.
Fantastic rendition ❤
Good on you Mr. Lead Singer..killin' it!
Great job. Saw Tull in 72 at Boston Garden.
Never really one of my favourite Tull songs, but this was great!
That was an amazing solo!
Martin looks and sounds great Thanks for posting.

Kudos Martin and band. Just awesome.

This is really good.
I had the pleasure to meet Martin Barre after the concert at San Diego Sports Arena 71 one of the nicest people I have ever met ! Goodonya
This is truly one of the greatest rock guitar solos ever..
The studio version absolutely. Along with Leslie West's on "Theme From An Imaginary Western.
I'd love to hear more of Martin Barr's solo stuff it was really good.
Phenomenal performance 👏 ✌️🖤
I've seen Martin with Tull many times since the Crest of a Knave tour, which was my first time.
This just took me back 50 years !! Memories flooding my brain !! Great job gentlemen !!
Great stuff , thanks for sharing this. Always loved JT and Martin barre is a class act even if Ian doesn't recognise that these days .
WoW! We saw Tull in Miami in 1972. Excellent. Thank You & Best Regards. P.S. WoW!
One band i never did get to see when i was grown up back in the 70s i regret that
Nor me! Saw so many others too!
Ahhh, Sir Martin Barre, probably my first influence on guitar, Ever since the early days of Tull, the guy rocks, even at this age, incredible man, superb musician.🤘🎸
This is incredible!!
One word. Epic!
