I spent most of this video with Ozzy Man in the back of my head saying "Here's me face!" over and over.
Even with the fantasy elements Baldur's Gate is honestly pretty tame compared to many real-world cities, because the ironic reality is that history is sometimes too fantastical for fantasy.
Szass Tam is almost cartoonishly evil and yet even the Vulkhirs would balk at the rivers of blood beneath the streets of real-world places like Jerusalem or Mexico City, and lament the shameful waste of so many bodies so many times.

Thank you for a thought provoking video. I think that because the rest of Faerun, is just as corrupt, that Baldur's Gate gets a pass... just! And from all of the characters of Baldur's Gate 3, Lae'zel has the least connection to the city. So perhaps the final answer should be left to her.

I was thinking to myself just a few days ago, "how the hell does such a goodie two-shoes character like Ravengard get to the most powerful position in such a corrupt city?"
The game implies the entire cosmology is at serious risk, not just the city, so it's a moot question in the end.
Although I think there's one option that lets you "nuke" the whole city and big bad guy at once while the rest of your party teleport away...

Baldurs Gates community and people whom are just attempting to live humble lives, to many others. Whom just want to exist, to have families n live their lives in peace n harmony.
Thats a cause worth fighting for. Protecting the people, destroying the malcotents and problem makers n doing what can be done to ensure evil's stopped In Baldurs Gate.
Theres nothing good to be gained by letting Baal and the others destroy Baldurs Gate, a cult of murder and a literal god of murder and bloodshed. Whos speciality is murder.
No income other then looting the dead and sacking, coersion.
And they're cohension is just centered around the fear and reward of their patron, but have factional infighting which'll do plenty of harm to each other.
Compared to communities who can grow food to feed the pop, workshops to make goods, masons for walls n buildings. Lumber mills for building n furniture. Blacksmiths for tools and weapons. Men n woman willing to take up arms to defend their communities, and all can prosper.
To live life.
Thats worth saving Baldurs Gate 3 to I. But them again I sound like such a sappy cheesey paladin who only sees black and white. And in the past, told I was a commie, liberal and fascist for saying this. (Which is odd. But whatever.)
But if theres good folks suffering, I find that to be worth fighting n dying for. In my case I'd probably been killed very quickly by gnolls or sometbing 😅😂

I would be very happy to save such a city. Every city has blood in its history, most right down to it's founding stones, and every city or nation has corruption through it. It's the individual lives that get built and lived that matter, far more than any passing crimes that are committed.
Nice video, maybe should of been saved for closer to Update 7 to really drive home the point. ^.^

I'll save Baldur's Gate because I'm a regular at Sharess' Caress Inn. Those Drow twins knows what they are doing in bed. They can even summon scratch or a Djinni and initiate combat if you are lucky.

It is worth saving
I have not played the first two games(sadly I won’t ever for now due to how primitive they are) but as far as Baldur’s gate 3 is concerned, I don’t give a shit about the city or its innocent people, nor do I care if it is worth saving. I fight to get ride of my tadpoles so I may live, if saving this city and its citizens is part of what I must do, so be it

The first 2 bgs arent the best prequel to bg3: temple of elemental evil is and bloodlines: vampire, they have something in common, they all allow the player do things depending on their characters personally... Weather they are evil good chaotic or orderly.
I have to be here for this. lol.. I love the lore of neverwinter. Im not that familiar with baldur's gate lore yet. I never liked the first 2 bg games. bg3 was the first one i actually played all the way through and a did that a few times.
Try vampire the masquerade bloodlines or temple of elemental evil... They are trully the only 2 other games based on table rpgs which are comparable to bg3.

I hate Karlach. She is the worst character in the game. A typical teenage brat, typical for Hollywood not for real life, Karlach cusses up a storm while behaving exactly like the idiotic sisters from Wolfenstein Youngblood.
