    I felt like this was a really good guide on 66L offense
    I know the intent was to help with defense, but it was nice to see the options post-66L laid out so well

    One thing you missed is that any light, including 66L, has a built in ‘dash cooldown’ so despite the frame counter, you can’t safely 5L into 66L because it forces you to wait to start the dash & it will always be interruptable with a jab

    • @limitedlistener6460
      @limitedlistener6460 5 месяцев назад +1

      To add to this, the cooldown lasts exactly until the defender is actionable after blocking, so you have one frame to wait on +1 fL and four frames on a +4 cL.
      This is one of the reasons Gran's 2M is a strong button. It's +1, but it has no dash lockout as it is not a Light normal, so it can clash a 6-frame fL best and frametrap anything else at worst.

    I really had no idea how to deal with 66L or what kind of options were available for on offense and defense. I was getting bullied the last few days by it (I probably was before too, but didnt notice). And now, I'm getting my answers here lmao. It's actually crazy how helpful the video is
    I been watching a ton of videos to learn, and your videos are by far the best and most digestible as a new player. I'm learning the game and getting better, and I attribute an incredible amount of it to your videos. They really are super helpful!

    Good info. Thanks. First vid I've watched of yours.
    I haven't tried vs yet, but have been watching vids for a while in hopes of being ready. Enjoyed the previous game & many others. Nice vid.

    Forward cross-evade, if timed early, can land you on other side of enemy and positive frames.But most times - it will be red or yellow.Escape variant when cornered.
    Some character skills and uniques, like counters/armour work well vs 66L. Dashing into Vaseraga`a charged Soul Forge will probably cost you up to 70% of hp.

    I've been trying to figure out if Uno's parrys have a place in defending against 66L pressure in the corner. This video is a great run down!

    I will say i play on keyboard and I feel much more consistent with dash attacks using the dash macro instead of inputting double tap dashes. Also I will mention with the dp tip. It is absolutely crucial that you establish that dp is an option. Even the best players with do it "randomly" from time to time. Is the same as jumping, is an insanely high risk option that isn't exactly u punishable, but you need to represent the option to condition your opponents to be aware that you are willing to commit to these options and therefore be wary of them. (of course jumping is not even remotely the same as random dp, as jumping is easily countered consistently unless you're a character with ability to fake our jump arcs like cag or install vira, but just to name another example of "raising the mental stack") pretty much like everything else that is "a guess" in fighting games the goal is not to have a perfect solution because that doesn't exist, you're still guessing at the end of the day but you can significantly improve your chances by knowing all the avaliable options and what they do.

    • @SemiQuest
      @SemiQuest  6 месяцев назад +3

      Agree. In high level play you will see players run up and block instantly because dp gets represented a lot and that is super valuable as a defender.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I've reach A1 but along the way I was SO confused how certain players were just constantly hitting me even when it felt like they shouldn't. I knew there was frame data stuff but I didn't realize this was the cause of it.

    Spacing and good a neutral in general are the best defense against dash L. A good read and a decent range on one of your poke should be enough to discourage Dash light spam. Also guard counter if it come to that. Dash L is an important part of this game for sure ,but you should not loose because of this only. I use to be bully by this until i started working more seriously on my fundamentals.I do not fear 66L pressure anymore

    Thank you for making this video! Would you be able to make a guide on getting out of corner pressure? I am having issue with most of the light attack being too far after I block and M/H attack too slow and I would get punished for trying to get them off my back without using a brave point.

    How would you counter 66L as zeta? Using EX rhapsody sometimes just loses to multihits if they input it during your follow up

    • @bumibomber
      @bumibomber 6 месяцев назад +4

      Dont press a button before the multi hits end, her parry lasts a long time.

      That bumibomber said. Also I have a guide up for zeta covering some defense stuff. But yeah what he said. The H follow up works the best if I remember correctly. Functions the most similar to a dp.

    Maybe it’s just my experience but so far, I haven’t been playing 66L simulator like the rest of everybody else. I’ve been stuck playing 2U/M simulator lol. Not complaining tho.

    So whats about Vaseraga? He is really slow and using 66L is kinda harder than on fast attacking characters. Especially aganst Yuel and Lancelot, since they are able to prevent a light combo and it seems like the only option is using M or H just because they are just faster.

    • @TheLeroy125

      I don't play Vas, but I play LaDiva who, like vas, is slow and get's basically shit from her 66L. I assume you are gonna have to do something similar for vas along the lines of the following. For LaDiva there are only 2 options (both of which are not actually real). you either 66L into cM (which is a frametrap on block but does not actually combo from 66L on hit unless CH) which gives you your triple attack combo into special and on block is pressure at least. Or you go 66L into fL which is a frametrap on block and true string on hit, which you then cancel into ex headbutt (which is not a true combo but a frametrap) and that then on hit or block continues into your cMMM pressure. Once you condition them to stop mashing (which is never btw) you can throw in a cmd grab that does no dmg if you like.
      Fairly gimmicky, fairly shit compared to what some of the other cast gets. I assume, with vas being big and slow that a frametrap into a very minor punish, or continued block pressure is all you can hope for.

      You need to use his invincible 50% command grab on defense to make opponents scared. On offense you will need to get super Armour a lot and he struggles if he can't hwr his super armor.

      @@SemiQuest The thing is that I'm often have to rely on 3-hit rampage to stop the mobile opponents, but against an experienced player its almost useless, because you need to use a powered version of a skill. Otherwise you'd get 100% interrupted and then find yourself in permablock stance in the corner, praying that they would give you a chance to do at least something. But it's fun if they do. Nothing is more satisfying than a punishment for enduring this B.S. too long. Also it's a first fighting game in my life so these videos about mechanics are very useful, though seeing thing and implementing them is a different story

      Vaseraga has a good 66L (it's serviceable, anyway) but your best bet is whenever you have breathing room, get your armor up.
      Once armor is up, you have good options. 22H, usually off of a f.M or f.H, 2M, etc. Some sort of poke. Your opponent's options are to throw you or jump over you, and your options from an armored 22H cover all that shit.
      You have a low, a mid, a big downward swing that will snipe them out of the air, and then the close range stomp. If they block 22X-L or H, you are safe, and H guard crushes (+16 on block).
      22H-M is a low that is safe on block, but if you do the M extension off of 22L or M, you are technically -10, but it's hard to punish unless done point blank.
      22X-U has one real application; baiting an opponent who you think will use a reversal (including supers!) when you do not have armor but decided to use 22X anyway. This move has INFINITE hyper armor but is -11 on block, so use wisely.
      Other notable tools:
      (4)6L, which is +9 on block at max range. Do NOT use point blank, light version cannot be armored. Use when you want to close distance AND keep your armor. Learn the ranges of your tackle specials (they're different), use them often.
      f.L - it's a good poke.
      Command grab - you can use this while in 22X, it's another option to mix up an opponent who is dealing with a charging Vaseraga who just used an armored 22H, bust it out on a frozen opponent, probably just use the easy input.
      The M version of the command grab when using simple inputs is awesome, it works as an anti-air when a 2H would not.
      Finally, 2L. This is a good AA poke for certain special moves like Metera's little command hop that you cannot hit with 2H reliably.
      If you poke them out of the air with a 2L, you can pick them up with something like f.L>RS>RC>MMMxx(4)6U wall bounce 2M>22H-H>U to end with armor, or whatever.
      Practice, he's a difficult but rewarding character, and don't be afraid to turn up the offense. It's his strongest suit, just try not to defend because he doesn't have meterless defensive options.
