I don't play her but Cag is genuinely a really sick character from a design perspective. The way they incorporate alchemy into her attacks, convey her two-faced nature via her intros and animations, and also convey her egotism through her Super Skybound Art is really well done. I don't know much about Granblue lore but I was instantly able to understand her deal purely via presentation, which is something Granblue is great at in general.
100%. I don't know any Granblue lore and Cag immediately became my main on character design alone. The first time she went from cutesy to the evil second face I was in.
As someone who dose understand Granblue lore, and she doesn't really have a duel personality. The cute bit is really just a facade she puts on mostly just for fun before switching over to someone with a big (well deserved) ego.
@Sajam, two tips from someone that is a way worst player, but has some time exploring Cag's toolkit: - Throne teleport is often better than Brave Counter. It can be used similar to an invulnerable DP in the ground, and you can fake an aerial attack to make them anti air, then smash them with the throne from the air. - Standing heavy (5h) is good for interrupt runners, and you can cancel it into the spike. - The spike is way safer than the hula-snake. You can end your combos with that to avoid trading or chip, and to mess with their expectations. - I'm not sure why, but rock -> trap -> 66h works most of the time for me. The side swap into the trap seems to caught people a lot. - The basic anti-air combo is 2h into far trap into extensions. It is very hard for me, but most Cag pros seem to use it often.
I really hope you keep doing this for every character in the game. It's really cool to see your learning process and will make picking up new characters a bit easier.
if curious id say new cag tips are spam 5h cause its faster than 5m. midscreen confirm raging strike cause her combo is really good and in the corner confirm into ex hula hoop. also auto combo rock is the safe blockstring
Cag is heavily underrated in this version, shes got a lot of things that make a character good, and the things she has that are extra more than make up for the things she lacks compared to characters that are above her (that arent nier)
something that stuck out to me when you were showing Vira at the start here...that button you were showing...the animation is really jank and bizarre as to what she does and I noticed because of the fact she thrusts with her left and not her right (her default stance). I had to go frame by frame but she doesn't even quick swap from right to left normally; she DROPS her sword from the right hand while spinning to her left, catches the sword with the left hand while completing the spin (and does so with the most ungodly of wrist twisting to catch the grip with her palm facing upwards) and then completes the thrusts before retracting the thrust motion and swapping back to her right hand normally. Not sure why, maybe some sort of reference to something she does in the other titles? Just stood out to me for some reason.
so assuming it wasnt cleared up midstream: lowain H counter does freeze the attacker, but not long enough hit so if you hit it with a normal you can try to react and spotdodge wont leave em punishable but better than being hit and you're slightly plus Also the pyramid install does indeed have punishable recovery, just very very little But if they're in your face and you're watching their timer it's not that bad
The "I'm getting off now" attack that instantly dispels HPA is I think safe(but minus) vs most of the cast because Lowain kinda hops back as the pyramid comes apart, so there's enough of a gap that most of the cast can't punish it on block
Mr. Jam you're killing me on not converting your AAs into raging strike > chain haha. I mean in general, I don't play Cag but it applies to just about everybody. Don't even have to think about whether it'll CH or not like, yeah there are CH and normal hit conversions you can do without it, but they're such a pain and situational (height dependent, screen position, what cooldowns you have) to where I'd really suggest just using RS. Always works and stabilizes the combo, plus gives you time to see what resources you have. Same actually when you get a far spaced A with most characters - you don't have to choose between EX move vs nothing, RS usually works. Costs a BP and some bar yeah but it's big worth. Meter build is ham in this game imo. Plus using super like you do will restore 1 BP too
cags big damage comes from 2H>ex traps, but raging strike is a good autopilot, especially since sajam is playing the whole cast and this will work everytime.
Meter is seriously absurd yeah, I haven't looked into the numbers yet but it feels like they cranked everything up compared to VS, people fairly often build 2 or even 3 full supers worth of meter in a game(ignoring the refunds from Ultimates)
@@syrelian haha for sure. I have to actively remind myself not to hold onto my bar - just use it! And it's wild how starting a combo with an Ult Skill incurs almost no meter gain penalty, so that many characters have routes spending 125% meter. I just found one with Anila the other day. Kat's is insane damage.
@@purifyws That at least is cause GBVS only penalizes meter gain for a period of time, rather than the duration of a combo, which can be... little hinderance when Meter is spent rather sparingly usually, unlike say, DBFZ where that same meter penalty can matter a lot more due to how often supers and other meter expenditures occur
To be fair, you likely shouldn't use raging strike/chain every time you anti-air. Bravery points are worth hanging onto, both for the alpha counter and because having 1 or less means taking extra damage. Plus most characters can still get good reward off anti-airs other ways, Cag especially with her traps.
Her teleport feel unreactable especially online, but she's a neet character. I expect that and her super to be slightly adjusted and i could aee her being one of the biggest brain characters in the game.

Reminds me of BB Hood from Darkstalkers
@@booho1 yeah, the real cag is a narcissistic and egotistic sadist lmao
My favourite detail is how when she's blocking she progessively gets more annoyed and her expression changes from cutesy to angry
No character portrays the feeling of "ehehe, I fucking got you" as well as Cag does.
Man, I watched the Granblue VOD from yesterday and was sad there was no Cag. Glad to see today is my day! Learning her has been fun, shes cool af
Cag seems to extremely cool, JP with drip (or the opposite)
She is so much fun. She has been my main since the first game and being able to slow down all the people spamming 66L by leaving traps never gets old
Easily the most fun and interesting character in the game: from gameplay to lore and how it all comes together, just a perfect package
Actually there's lots of fun and interesting characters in the original game but unfortunately they were mostly omitted for the Knights and Angels.
Dp goes brrrrrrrrrrrrr
caglio's combos get interesting with how situational they can get with pre-placed traps

I hate playing against uncle cag :(

Spear after auto combo is also safe, but yeah rock summon (and rock throw) also does the job.
What's the raging strike combo you're referring to?
After our set I learned to stop jumping so much, thank you for the anti-airs Mr JamBlueRising
Satan Isn’t a man it’s a dwarf that metal bends and places Traps

Man, I teleport aaaaaaall over the place when I play Cag, especially in the air, but I barely see Sajam use it. And I love that air rock shot.
It's a bad habit. I did that a lot too. I've been playing games without teleport just so I can learn neutral with her.

Sajam you gotta rock some fools with ladiva, Crazy fun character.
Love to see the Cag gameplay
I appreciate the vira tips. I dont play her, but now I know why I'm getting smoked lol
why she always makin the lego minikit noise
Sajam getting into character there at 18:03
I don't know what's worse. Being rammed by a sheep or by a dolphin.
cag is really fun. trying to pick between her, vira and lowain for my current main

oh what the fuck is the geodude doing on the thumbnail _what happened this set_

VASERAGA GAMING
Just got beatrn to death today by a Cagliostro. I was all lost throughout the matches haha
I thinks it's hilarious how she just throws a rock
The best part is when he said “it’s CAGGIN time” and cagged all over those guys
Just dropping by to like for the based horse partner.
That 4:23 combo was cool.
Cag is super adorable

A reminder to like any character (yes, including Nier) except for Cagliostro
