Yes! A great presentation showing all the nuisances! The little "angles" that are required, the "twist-just-so" details that all work PERFECTLY! Thanks! Gene
Very helpful video. I was recently given a Winchester M1 Carbine that my grandfather had bought years ago, now I know what needs to be done for disassembly. You have a new subscriber here.
Great Stuff! I haven't had my carbine apart in a long time, so the refresher of the fine points of parts alignment and angles were helpful. The style of presentation reminded me of Parris Island. One thing I consider part of the function check - with the bolt locked back, point the muzzle down. Invert the weapon to muzzle up. You should hear the gas piston drop to the end of it's travel. I do it before the safety + trigger check. 😊
Thank you for this video. I just stripped and cleaned my grandfather's carbine, which I don't think had been done since he stuffed it in his foot locker and switched over to a Garand in 1943. It shot smooth and beautifully at the range, it's disassembly and reassemble went somewhat less smoothly. The captive screw on the barrel band wouldn't turn without some lubricant and serious coaxing, and I shot the guide rod across the room a couple times (always wear eye protection when working with parts under tension) trying to get it and that damn recoil spring back in the hole in the slide. And I'm not sure how many times the gun had been fired in the last 80+ years but I'm sure it had never been cleaned in that time, so it took a couple hours of spraying solvent, scrubbing with brushes, and wiping with patches to finally get it all cleaned. But I finally got it cleaned and put back together, and there are worse ways to spend a Sunday afternoon than on the patio in the sun cleaning an heirloom.
I'm glad my video was help in getting your piece of family and world history back in working shape! Eye pro is a valid point and hopefully in the future your maintenance should be less off a bear from hear on out. 👍
Great stuff. Just picked up an Inland from '43. What a fantastic piece of history that I look forward to passing on to the future generations. Very much enjoyed the period styling of the narration.
Excellant detail, brilliant camera work. Key fit of tabs is crystal clear. I have seen many well-meaning videos of carbine field stripping that are useless due to poor focus/lack of zoom; they make it seem easy but you cannot repeat the slight-of-hand, especially with the recoil slide not in exactly the right spot. This is the only video you need.
Thank you for making this wonderful, informative video. It worked great. On my Inland, the oiler came out extremely hard. Didn't want to but had to use a hammer and punch and hammer it out from behind. Didn't want to shave the slot it goes in so had to hammer it back in, also. Thanks again, sir.
fantatstic video. question😮 though is how😢 you determine correct sling positiin before inserting the oiler. if its newer, how do determine at what point the oiler should be put nto the loop
Hey man, I think the way you set up your 1907 sling could be improved so that when you put the sling in a double loop you don’t have that extra piece of leather catching you up
Thanks for the input! The method demonstrated is certainly not the only way to set up the sling. This is the way described in the US Army Field Manuals addressing the sling though. A separate video with alternative options may be a good idea though.
Have not done any Cleaning videos. This is in part because a lot of these old firearm manuals are pretty generic on cleaning, there are much better tools available now, and everyone seems to have thier own way of cleaning guns they think is best. You are not the first to ask about cleaning videos though so maybe I should start thinking about it though. 🤔
Do you know if a wood hand guard is compatible with a metal hand guard. I’ve got a later carbine with a metal hand guard but I wanna replace Emmy metal one with a wood

You are welcome! Glad it helped!
I was cleaning my grandfathers M-1 carbine for the first time to shoot it in his memory. Thank you. Very helpful video
I'm glad I could help keep your grandfather's memory and your family history alive!

Thanks you and glad it helped! We have several other videos on the carbine you may also like, including one published today! 👍
Perfect timing! It's time to field strip and clean. Excellent presentation.
Thanks!

That's interesting on the function check. I haven't heard that before, but I tried it, and you can definitely hear the movement. 👍

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed! The M1 is great for sharing as anyone can enjoy it!
very good but the oiler/sling slot
may be too tight to remove as shown
so youll need to undo that end
from the buckle to slide it out
Thanks
Thank you so much for great video, which gave me sufficient confidence to disassemble, clean and reassemble my M1 Carbine. Thanks again!
Awesome, good job! The carbine isn't the easiest thing to disassemble. Glad I could help.

Thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed and found this helpful!
As a new owner of a 1942 Winchester
Thank you
Thanks, and congrats on your new to you piece of history!
Great Video! What is the proper purpose and use of the "Oiler" in cleaning the M1 Carbine?
The oiler has an applicator on the top, which can be used to apply oil to any metal surfaces that may need it.
Thank you and thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed. The oiler slots can definitely be a bit tight sometimes.
Just picked up my first m1 carbine. Its a reproduction it runs flawless. Sure is a handy and sharp little rifle. Thanks for this
You are welcome! You will definitely enjoy the carbine.
Thanks for a straight forward and understanding process.
You are welcome!
Thanks for your video 👍

Depends on how tight you want the sling but the sling is adjustable. Have you checked out the Training Film on the sling?
This was a great review and instruction. I think I’m ready to give it a try.
Thanks so much for sharing this video.
👏😉
Thanks! Glad I could help. Give it a try, I think you will be just fine.
Great Video, Now I Just
Need The Rifle, lol...
Thanks! The hunt for the rifle is part of the fun 😁
Really good demonstration, many thanks!
Thanks! You are very welcome!
Beautiful weapon! I think im in Love
The M1 Carbine is a great firearm!
Very well done
Thank you!
Do you have a video of the proper lubrication technique? Where and when would this be done if not during reassembly? Great video, thanks
I have not done any Cleaning or lubrication video. Maybe in the future 🤔
Thank you. Would love to see it. Especially using grease points@@HistoryinFirearms

Supper clear teaching. Thanks I will clean mine soon. Oh ! Where can I get more ammo? Thanks.
Thanks! Sorry I can't help in the ammo 🤷♂️
Wow! I like M-1 Carbine Hope i have this one.
Glad you liked 👍
Great video. Is there a reason you say "thee" for "the" every time? As in "thee handguard" and "thee lower loop"?
I guess I just talk funny 🤷♂️😁
@@HistoryinFirearms Fair enough. :D
Wow! Way better than the video I made! Very professional
Um, thanks! Wasn't intentionally trying to outdo yours. 😁
@@HistoryinFirearms no really, your videos are great. Keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
I watched this three times so I can look like a wizard when it's time to show my buddy how to field strip and clean his rifle.
Now you are a pro! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video!
You're welcome!
Very helpful
Glad to hear!

I would think they attach the same but don't have any experience with the metal commercial handguards. Presuming all the other parts are USGI.
Where r u training center
Not sure what you mean.
I don't even have an M1 Carbine. I'm just watching this anyway.
Well, thanks! I hope you enjoyed it!
Me to lol love these old videos
