This is extraordinary. And what a great treat to see my dear friend, teacher, colleague and two-piano concert partner, Margarita Fyodorova with her teacher, Heinrich Neuhaus, about 13 minutes into the film. She is close to 90 now. Wonderful!
There is no propaganda. It's just a movie about this wonderful special music school that raised thousands of big names in music and in fact continues doing the same thing today. Tradition there is amassing and very strong. Only the best kids from the country can get in. Tough training.
The USSR just came out of a war that was severe, an existential threat, where millions died not only in fighting but in disease and starvation, and as soon as they won, they set up a magnificent music school. USSR nostalgia is a thing for a reason.
There is something very touching about this film coming from the ashes of World War 2 and filled with much hope for the future! Yampolsky, Neuhaus,Goldenweiser and many other great teachers and artists plus a glimpse of great Russian music educational methods makes one wish to be able to follow the Russian language rather than just catching a name here and there.
Propaganda? Maybe. But it's also true. What an assembly of professors & students! Neuhaus, Goldenweiser, Yampolsky, etc. Google Moscow Conservatory & see the notable graduates - no other music school comes remotely close!
Perhaps when this was filmed the war with Germany had definitely been won. It is a very nice film with exceptional footage - I just wish it had English, German, or Spanish subtitles.

A wonderful film! Happily I had the posibility to learn by Igor Bezrodny and his mother Tatjana Pogozeva, without them I wouldnt be a musician today.
is it possible to make English subtitles ? It would be so nice and interesting for many music lovers

I don't think you are missing that much by not understanding. It's just bunch of propaganda.
