- Documentary film about Heinrich Neuhaus (1888-1964).
The English translation was kindly provided by "Pianushko" and "Noshirm". I tried to synchronize the subtitles as much as possible with the Russian original!
(To activate the subtitles: click on the FOURTH ICON ON THE RIGHT JUST UNDER THE VIDEO.)
Version with Japanese subtitles:

I heard Richter and Gilels live - both twice. I will never forget this. They were giants.
funklover24 Lucky lucky lucky man!
@@leo32190 Indeed, these were great experiences. Live they were even more impressive than on video or CD/LP. Unfortunally I missed a recital with Horowitz in the early eighties ... still sad about this, but it was difficult to get tickets ... 🤔
funklover24 That is amazing. Have you ever heard any young talents live?
@@leo32190 Well, most of them are just technical, but boring. I prefer the previous generation such as Koczalski, de Pachmann, Igumnov, Cherkassky, Baerman, Ignaz Friedman, Moisewitsch, Siloti, Gieseking, Backhaus and so on.
funklover24 What about Krystian Zimmerman. (Not in his 20s but still fairly young).
The end of the video is so powerful; great artists and teachers may pass on, but they never die. Awesome.
Heinrich Neuhaus played my favorite recording of Vers La Flamme. I wish that recording technology was better in 1951 when it was recorded so I could hear the performance better. I like Richter's version almost as much.
Pianopera! You've done it again! You've uploaded (downloaded?) so many treasures; to-weep beautiful treasures. How can one ever thank you sufficiently?
.
Dear uploader, thank you so much. This is a treasure. Special Thanks for the subtitles.
Danke schön!
Thank you for this!!!!
The life of the great Russian pianist/pedagogue Heinrich Neuhaus
Thank you so much for having this documentary available on RUclips.
Neuhaus was a genius. This documentary is so valuable for pianists of today and tomorrow. Thank you 🙏🏻
Very interesting, the great teacher of Richter and other excellent pianists..watching as soon as possible!
Very moving ending. Great documentary!
It's a spiritual thing atthis level : what people really have in them . Igumnov,Goldenweiser,Blumenfeld ,Neuhaus and his son they exist at levels the rest of us don't really have access to . They know the instrument can break it up and put it together and notice immediately its mechanism and different tones ! I cant believe Gilels handful of chords in his Petrouchka . And bad Russian recording still amazes . We're lucky Eussians respected so much and filmed so much !!!
Fabulous footage! Many thanks!
Thank you so much to everyone involved in making this available!
Beautiful, thank you
A giant!!!nothing else to add!!thank you!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is that a brief glimpse of Rosa Tamarkina at 4:26? Oh, yes; I realize that it was after she appears later. What an incredibly moving documentary!
the documentary talks about how several of Neuhaus' lessons were video-taped. Anybody knows about the whereabouts of these videos?
....I believe, In that film 's almost everything on VIDEOS.... It's some recording-- vinil's discs with Newhaus 's open lessons--"master-class & of course recording Concert program Brahms ,Chopin, Skryabin on the 1950-th
Congratulations on a great job - the captions are really well synchronized!
Thanks! I am really glad that you took the time to translate it, it's a very interesting documentary. Now I see that at 27:54, there is a funny typo: "He never tried to impose only one way of paying on his students." Of course, that should be *playing*! I tried to edit the subtitles, but I cannot find the option on YT.
pianopera
Haha, funny indeed!
Maybe this will help with editing:

***** I finally found out how to do it, thanks!
pianopera
Glad you could fix it!
***** Btw at 4:26, shouldn't that be "one-one", or "one to one"?
Master of masters.
Absolutely fascinating vintage footage - although now minus the English subtitles it seems (??) Perhaps they've been censored in England! :-) Interestingly Neuhaus's own sitting position seems quite low and his general posture at the keyboard is beautifully relaxed (and about as different from Richter's as you could find!) - but no wonder HN produced such a lovely sound.
That's strange, I can see them clearly here! Of course you know you have to click on "CC" first?
pianopera Thanks - I couldn't find 'CC' under the video but I now realise it's represented by the little rectangular box. Sorry I was obviously being thick!
What year was this lovely film?

Un saludo. ruclips.net/video/amwgMU4PWVY/видео.html
