      Try listening to Kogan, I feel his performance is more genuine and more natural, but both are good nevertheless.

      I love the way he plays it so freely and unwaveringly as he sees it , and as he wants to play it! Almost like he’s not even competing but simply loving the instrument and every aspect of the music. Communicating the spirit of the piece AND his own passion. That was NOT a “safe” approach but apparently, he was THAT GOOD!!
      And Oistrach sitting right there!! Best version I’ve heard or watched ever! Refreshing doesn’t even come close! If I had worn this piece out and then watched this, it would rekindle my original exuberance and I’d have to watch it at least a few more times while pinching myself to make sure it was real!! Thank you for posting this!!!

    That's just incredible playing coming from a young guy at a competition - playing with a flair and devil-may-care attitude you don't see too often live in concert, let alone a major competition with Oistrakh sitting right in front of you......!

    Unreal playing and incredible! I heard Tretyakov live in the late 70s playing Prokofiev Concert no. 1 with the Cleveland Orchestra. Brilliant violinist but by then he had more of sledge hammer approach. I wish they showed more of him playing so brilliantly rather than showing so much of his renowned teacher, Yankelevich, looking so nervous and trying to get approval from the other teachers. I wonder what Oistrakh was thinking as this boy wonder took first prize?

  • @gabrielcornet2610

    It's very nice. But as many other violin videos, the video had been a little accelerated to make it brighter, and more virtuoso. You can see the same with some kogan and Oistrakh videos too. The proof is that the pitch is much too high, and the vibrato much too fast.
    Could they post the real speed?

    • @daniel3231995
      @daniel3231995 10 лет назад +1

      Is that right? Didn't know they did that.

    • @bastianloewe
      @bastianloewe 9 лет назад +2

      really? i thought that a long time also but it seems like its real tempo!, they used to play a lot higher back on those days!
      Tibor Varga for example sometyimes played with a 450

    • @PierreAlexandrePheulpin
      @PierreAlexandrePheulpin 9 лет назад +1

      Gabriel Cornet Yes absolutely right... It's stupid trick as these players are great anyhow... This tape is accelerated to 1 semi tone, the 1st note should be G but sounds G sharp.

    • @bayudwiputra5607
      @bayudwiputra5607 8 лет назад +4

      Pierre-Alexandre Pheulpin "trick"? Dammit. If this is the kind of trick they used. There wouldnt be any people who watch him live and said it was the time of their live. Yes, there is some recording that is speed up. But do you think they hope to called to be one of the greatest violinist by using this trick? Come on

    • @paulparoma
      @paulparoma 6 лет назад +4

      Gabriel Cornet Nobody "accelerated" the video, you idiot. The higher speed is the result of video transfer. On modern digital equipment the speed could probably be adjusted, but they did not have that back then. LPs from the USSR are also sharp by a half-step.

  • @raffaeleschiavone9986

    • @22bomd
      @22bomd 9 лет назад

      +Pierre-Alexandre Pheulpin "normal" speed FOR you ...you should say :) LOVE this tempo ! Only maybe he is NOT perfect on the saltandos ..but apart from that, this is excellent ...anyhow Liviu Prunario , plays this piece REALLY musical and posh .......AND in "A lower speed " :) Just for the record , Leonid Kogan plays in this (TOO speedy for you ) tempo !

    • @PierreAlexandrePheulpin
      @PierreAlexandrePheulpin 9 лет назад +4

    • @22bomd

    • @Pirryragg
      @Pirryragg 7 лет назад +7

      you still don`t undertand... He's not talking about the veloticy of Tretyakov but the recording's speed. How can you know that? 1.- Have perfect pitch and realise that the sounding key is D flat major instead of C major. 2.- Don't be deaf, realise something is wrong, pick a tuning fork, and find out :)

  • @PierreAlexandrePheulpin
    @PierreAlexandrePheulpin 9 лет назад +12

    You still don't understand! He didn't actually play this fast, it is the playback of recording that is faking the speed

    • @PierreAlexandrePheulpin
      @PierreAlexandrePheulpin 9 лет назад +3

      +Marie Opsahl this piece is in C not C#, that means clearly the recording is speed up, of course it's not a matter of taste, it's corrupted recording... Also the vibrato is far to tight, again result of speeding up recording, anyway it's a well known trick to make sound more brilliant and impressive any recordings

    • @22bomd
      @22bomd 9 лет назад +1

      +Pierre-Alexandre Pheulpin I see ....... excuse for misunderstanding you then ! The thing is , I like the " corrupted " recording :)))

    • @PierreAlexandrePheulpin
      @PierreAlexandrePheulpin 9 лет назад +4

      No problem !... Is a fantasitic violinist anyway so this is my point, why doing this... I am violinist in Lille National Orchestra and I much appreciate beautiful performances as long as they are truly what the violist actually did ! All best :-)
