I originally found your video when searching for how to do the merengue. I don’t know if you’ve been told this in the past, or maybe it is just me🤔, but it is difficult to see what your legs are doing. The black hides everything.
Just thought I’d tell you, in case others have the same issue. You both dance so beautifully it would be sad for some to miss it. You explain it very well so I could make out what you were doing by what you said.

no no no. you NEVER teach people who (have no rhythm) are learning to dance to move their feet. the trick is to move your KNEES. if you teach people to move their feet you're just gonna get a room full of people stomping. when you move your knees you NATURALLY move your hips.

Correct it’s so hard to learn for beginners but that’s the trick to it, people criticize until they practice and realize it is in the knees

@@emilyk5922 try it. Basically jut out your knees back and forth. obviously with some style not like a robot or something. But moving your knees will automatically move your hips. If you focus too much on actually moving your hips it's going to look like you're trying way too hard and it's going to look very exaggerated.

@@zalezluciano2899 Yes, it started off okay but within a few seconds the 2,4,6,8 beats became over-emphasised and the solo guitar blurred the tempo for my ears to catch.. I prefer Juan-Luis Guerra for teaching both Merengue and Bachata. I do like this guy’s explanation and technique though.
