If I bought the elrs version can I use a ghost module or do I need the 4 in 1?
@@QBeeZee from what I see in the specs and from Mad's live stream, it has the full size "JR" module and should be able to run just about any module including Immersion RC's Ghost.

You are right with the analogy. They are not the same at all by looking at them. Personally I like the Boxer but not the Mambo which looks cheap in styling.

I went from a taranis QX7 to a zorro a few months back and as much as I wanted to love the zorro and it’s smaller size I just couldn’t get comfortable with the mini gimbals. Wasn’t until I just switched back to the X7 that I realized how much the bigger gimbals make a difference for me.
So the Boxer might just be the perfect radio for me. Got one coming on pre-order.

@@user-yk1cw8im4h well I haven’t received the Boxer yet so I can’t say about that comparison. I would like to see someone compare one to the QX7. I’ll be able to do my own comparison soon as my boxer shows up. But the Zorro is quite a bit smaller than the QX7.

Deepest respect for you over here Ian. So many similarities in products in this industry. So I expect people to say things about it.
I didn't pull the trigger on the Mambo due to the very same reason you mentioned, it's shipped with tracer and I don't fly tracer. I fly mainly crossfire and just now experimenting with ELRS. I don't mind adding a module to get the protocol I fly, but I do mind having to swap modules. For that reason the Boxer seems like an ideal alternative.

Like you said, Radiomaster has hit it out of the park with their latest release and I’m thinking I might have to get one, even though I already have a Zorro and tx16s. This new one is just about the perfect compromise between the two of them.

I have a dx6i and was comparing the measurements, its basically the exact same shape. I'm glad I preordered this as I am used to the dx6i shape, and this won't be much different.

I pre-ordered one as soon as it was announced and I'm excited to try it. I've been through a bunch of radios over the years but none were "perfect". This one might be close. The shoulder buttons are a disappointment for me but I'm thinking of 3D printing a blank button for the left shoulder and replacing the push-button switch there with a toggle.
Mambo also doesnt have a trainer port which is huge
An excellent follow-on review comparison. Agree that the Boxer hits many of the things that pilots flying with EdgeTx want in a radio these days.
Both the Boxer and Zorro and top of the line radios offering a great feature set. If zorro had betting battery life and offered similar output power, I think it would be very hard to choose between the two. More just a personal preference in feel.
BTW: I don't think TBS is standing still with the Mambo and their other products. It's been a tough year in HK, with chip shortages, etc. Expect TBS may have a few upgrades and new offerings for 2023.
I would have bought a Mambo long time ago if it came with Crossfire built in. Will get this one instead. Any idea when they will be available with AG01 CNC gimbals already installed as an option?

It's square and has two gimbals so obviously a rip off! I need to get worked up over this small thing because I like having high blood pressure as an FPV pilot.

Agreed ,form factor and size is ideal. Did the Mambo copy Futabas FF9 ? . I still use mine for my Helicopters it’s still the perfect Hand sized TX. Great video thanks.
I mean... the RM ppl were part of Jumper before they had a falling out and made their own radio and we all benefited from that. And the T16 body is just about a direct clone of the Futaba. Because its a great design. Same with this situation. Very similar because it works and as Mads said the TBS isn't the first radio to look like this either.
When will they release a upgraded version with AG01 gimbals carbon/plastic cover and metal switches in color options.

Interesting radio, but I’m staying with the Radiomaster TX16s. I need a good screen for telemetry (yaapu).
The TX16S is a brick. But it covers just about everything in 1 radio! 😉😊

Are the gimbals on the boxer easier to move through their full throw them the tx16s?
I’ve had the tx16s for awhile now. But realized that I was having a hard time with movements that require my hands to go towards the center of the radio. I switched to the zorro this month. I like it and it’s solved my problem. But the gimbals are a bit small..
To me TBS should have Tango 2 available in Tracer and Mambo in Crossfire. Also having 250hz max in external modules is not great either.
On the Boxer I am hoping for custom button and roller colours like with TX16s and leather grips also.
Virtually all products arrive at a base design, look at most cars nowadays.
I am new to FPV, so if I order the 1-4, is the CC2500 build into the Boxer or do I need to buy something seperate
A more premium version would be nice..maybe less plastic.
It seems to me that we deserve a better antenna on our radios than the generic dipole that os on everything. I understand the concept of “not broke, don’t fix it” but at the same time, as long as things are evolving and improving… shouldn’t the default antenna do the same?

Touch features was one of the Major features of Edge TX, AL the Reviewer were bashing Open TX because it did not have it and went to Edge. Now RM releASE A radio with old ass screen and it the best thing every. cmon,

TBS's biggest mistake was not having the mambo have an internal module that could have ported itself over into new Tango2 builds also, could have fixed the 250hz max rate issues with that too.
Wow, tango2's now sell for more than mambo in Canada, the tango2 pro more than the ethix mambo... I guess its obvious which model was more successful. (i use two tango2's)

tbs gimbals are way off compared with the cnc radiomaster. They have those new gimbals by pyrodrone but the cost goes higher. radiomaster gimbals are butter smooth
I'm in the same boat, I would have jumped on a Mambo crossfire edition and asked multiple times when it released if it would be an option.
Currently using a tango 2 with an ELRS tx on the back but disappointed it can only power to 100mw. Already got a set of AG01 gimbals on standby and a tx16s 5000mah battery for my boxer when it ships.
There's always the diehard fans that will throw slander around if something comes along to compete with their favourite toy 🤷♂️
Them mambo is somehow better. If only Tracer was better.
I would have compared to QX7 more than Mambo.
Not to say it is a copy in anything more than being a comparable concept that may have been inspired by QX7 and similar.

Anyway thanks for this video, i always where sensitive to the Gimbal position, that's the reason I stay with my Qx7 since 2015. I tested all the other Radios, even a Futaba T18sz, didn't like it.
I'm the guy with the Radiomaster AG01 Gimbal Mod on the Taranis Qx7 on Thingiverse (thing:5316595). High hopes this Radiomaster Boxer can finally let me switch to a newer Radio, already ordered one with Blue AG01 Gimbal from Radiomaster EU Store.
I want shorter switches on the front then I'll retire my tx16s with it's 3 broken switches
Still believe the same: No $$ no good comments. RM is going around doing the same with all these YT “experts”. Weeks later since the release still not interested in the least. Just a redundant radio and nothing exciting.
