- This golden meadow beauty is not just a rich medicine plant but a critical plant for the health of pollinator habitat, and in turn birds and larger predator species, supporting the entire chain of biodiversity in an ecosystem.
Many consider Goldenrod (Solidago spp.) a weed, but it is but one of many profoundly important ‘weeds’ out there that are not just medicinal but also critical to healthy ecosystems. Ranging from Texas and Florida all the way up to Nova Scotia, Goldenrod is a ubiquitous plant along the East Coast that we are delighted to introduce you to in this video class.

My Granddaughter and I actually harvested goldenrod this afternoon. Planning to infuse in oil as well as dry some for tea. I still have plenty of tincture left, but I hadn't thought about vinegar. If we have enough, we will try that also. If not, we'll be back out harvesting next week!
I'm going to pick a bunch tomorrow to make tincher, oil and dry for tea. This is the most I've seen in years. Nature knows we need it this year.

I’ve harvested Goldenrod before but it went to seed. Is there a way to harvest and have it stay in flower form? Is it time sensitive? Love your video!
I usually dry it or tincture when I harvest it if I want to capture it in flower form. I try to process anything I harvest within a day or two

Last year, I made 2 wide mouth quart jars of goldenrod tincture. I'm wondering if I can use small amounts of it in tea. I thought that I'd use more than I have.
Can I mix it with beeswax to make a salve or do I have to make oil infusions of the plant & leaves. Its macerated in Canadian Mist whiskey.
Yes you can add tinctures to tea. I have never worked with tinctures in salve. - Maggie
How do you know what the dosage is for the different uses?
I remember someone staying that golden rod was the antidote to poison ivy skin irritation...if it is, how do you prepare and use it?
I have used a wash of the goldenrod infusion for a little relief
