I don't know if Daigo will pick Kage because of his hadouken, it's not a projectile so he can't make a solid zoning. He has shakunetsu but it's way slower.

I feel like Kage is a nice step forward from evil ryu, who was literally Ryu with darker tan skin and Akuma effects, this pushes the idea that Dark Hadou changes a person physically as well as their focus to a monstrous point to the extent they lose their humanity. Also the purple cracks look like a call back/call forward to the story "Ryu Final" where Ryu and Akuma finish their rivalry and it's revealed that the dark Hadou is literally all that's holding Akuma together anymore.

The Satsui no Hado is a dark force tied to the more sinister aspects of the human soul, including the hunger to survive, destroy, and conquer. Those who learn to control it become nearly unstoppable, but at the cost of their humanity. Akuma is one of these beings. In the past, Ryu was constantly struggling with keeping the Satsui no Hado at bay. If he was hypothetically unable to control it, Evil Ryu would manifest and bring a dark obsession to the otherwise peaceful Ryu.
However, after the events of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Ryu was able to overcome the Satsui no Hado’s temptation to ensure Evil Ryu would never see the light. However, the Satsui no Hado living within Ryu became sentient and would rise as the entity known as Kage, meaning “shadow” in Japanese. Kage lives to prove Ryu is nothing without him and seeks to challenge Akuma and Sagat, two of Ryu’s most notorious rivals.

His ass not only gave in to the Satsui no hado to give himself the ONI form, he took the shit back and decided it wasn’t good enough XD.
Plus SFxT shows Akuma literally showing oni who’s boss calling him a shadow raging against its caster. I think Akuma has just surpassed satsui no hado and seeks to perfect his technique

This game *REALLY* needed this character. I know it's yet another shoto, but Akuma needed some competition and it certainly is here. I'm curious to see what Daigo and Desk can do with this.
