I'm retired now but I was ATL based for most of my career. That approach was flown to runway 27L. You'll notice that the terrain slopes up from the interstate in the last half mile. It's common to have sinking air during the last bit of the approach as the air conforms to the surface. It's called an orographic effect. You need to add power to maintain airspeed while staying on glide path when flying through the sinking air.
Love this old reliable planes my favorite is the 717-200and the 757s this planes were better built hands on not all electronic an computers more pilot feel and pilot knowledge planes those 737-800 Max computer malfunction plane and the rider screw probably locked up they had trouble with these planes well 737s
I’ve landed on this same runway, exited on the same taxiway, on a Delta MD-88, in the same seat you were sitting in. I also have video of it on my channel.
I used to LOVE to fly. I was Civil Air Patrol Cadet in the mid '70s during which I had many opportunities to fly. Then: 9/11 happened. Now we are treated like cattle. The only thing missing is the electrified cattle prod. Perhaps it's only a matter of time..

Very cool! Love that insight. Excited to begin my aviation journey. I’m 3 years out from retirement and hope to go straight into commercial aviation
A beautiful-looking wing.
Nice video Ryan! That was a lot of power there on final! Haha
I'm glad you can video record and stay calm during approach lol. I'm always gripping my seats arm rests and praying we make it to the runway xD
Do you fear flying?
yep you are right I do that all the time in landing

I love those JT8D engines
Miss seeing these mad dogs
I flew on a couple MD-88's, the rear seats are very noisy which makes it hard to hear announcements over the PA system

How well was the window lined up with the seat?
If I remember correctly, this was an excellent Seat. BTW, GO BLUE!
NWA1503 Thanks! Go Blue!
Seat on average use to line up better.
