  • Due to the depletion of fossil fuels, many alternative fuels are coming up. But, they can’t directly be used in our existing vehicles. A vehicle's engine design is significantly affected by what goes into it. Based upon the property of alternative fuel used, engines are supposed to be designed or modified accordingly.
Vehicles powered by bio-ethanol require no or less modification based on the blends use. As we already discussed, bio-ethanol can only be used in SI engines. Today, we will be talking about the modification of an SI engine powered by Bioethanol. The oxygen present in bioethanol can affect the air-fuel mixture ratio at which the engine is operating. So, taking into account the oxygen content in ethanol is necessary to reduce the air-fuel mixture ratio. In modern cars, the engine management system electronically senses and changes the air-fuel mixture ratio. But, in old cars, since they use a carburettor, the air-fuel mixture must be adjusted manually.
Further in this video, we will be talking about the changes done to other parts of the vehicle and also the measures are taken by different countries to restrict the bioethanol blend to a certain amount because they would cause vehicle damage and drivability problems.

instead of modification of current engines why dun we design engines from the ground up to run most efficiently on E100/M100 i.e neat ethanol or methanol? in a pinch/emergency they could run on petrol/diesel but it is designed to run on alcohol renewable fuels 1st....
