You just became my personal internet coach! These videos are simple, effective and covered every part I wondered about in each section. Got way to much new stuff to try out in tomorrows practice o.o :D (Watched like 8-9 videos, great stuff!) Greetings from a new volleyball - player in Norway^^ Keep up the good work!
I think volleyball is a growing sport, but to be honest I do not know the environment^^ I started this fall, and I know little about the traditions. I'm lucky to have a local coach, who as far as I'm concerned played on an international level in Norway! Most people go skiing, and a lot also plays soccer.
I have been watching your volleyball tutorials and i got compliments from team mates that I am hitting way better than before. No one used to block my spike as I was hitting either to their hand or soft hit so they can easily pick. Now i know how not to hit directly to expected target. I started doing most the exercises you have recommended. Now I want learn how to block as I hardly block the spike. Thank you namaste
Thanks for this! I’m going to be a freshman and have played back row for 4 years! We have a new coach this year and she wants me to play middle and right side in the front, instead of the back. I’m really trying to prove to her I can do it, and this helps a lot 🙌
Honestly thank you so much because I am a middle blocker I just made it to Juniors Varsity, and my coach tells me that I am good on what I am doing I just need to jump higher and use my hands correctly, so honestly thank you
Honestly, I needed this so much. I used to be a setter, but now I play middle all the time and I keep having trouble moving left to block oppo. Something with my brain and footwork makes me stumble over myself lol. Now I'm practicing these wherever i go! Much appreciated!
Whoa this is so great ! Thank you so much I've learned so much stuff that didn't even cross my mind not once before. Your formation is so efficient and precise it's amazing you make it so much easier
I want to be a middle blocker even thought my height is 4'9. I've always watch your videos! And i'm thankful for that because introvert like me can do alone! Thank you so much couch!
Great coaching videos Donny. Can I suggest a video on how to read the set early to help make good blocking decisions, from the point of view of a middle blocker. Thanks.
Bro the mid season comeback is boutta be crazy (I’m only a freshman who has never played so I had a disadvantage to start) I really enjoy this sport and really want to be good so thank you for this
Hello Coach Donny, can you please make a video on how to organize a double/triple block? I found it hard to block in sync as a MB with the power hitter and the right side. Thanks!
Wow I honestly love your videos. They show perfectly everything you have to do and in an easy and simple way. They even show stuff my coach never taught me. You've just became my internet coach hahaha. I've been playing for 8 years and your videos are teaching me a lot of new stuff I've never imagined. I'm still 14 but I want to play better than I am and this is helping a lot. Thanks from Spain ❤
Hi Thanks for the video. Am finding difficulty in blocking a Smasher who is hitting from very close to the net and his smashing angle is towards my Smasher and very close to the net, kindly advise pls
I'm a libero but I'm 6,2 so I got moved to middle blocker and thank u for helping me with my blocks its really effective and also we won because my team watch ur vids
Thank you si much coach. I just came back here to get help with blocking. My team is lacking of middle blockers so I will be playing as a middle at a tournament, I’m not used to it, I’m a setter, but your videos keep helping me a lot. Love u
I told my mom that my real coach is coach Donny, not the narcissistic one that has no idea what she’s doing (then yells at us when we don’t know what we’re doing lol)
for me the hardest things about blocking are: read block, be patient and observe timing, sometime even know who s going to hit, but jump to early reaction time, take a sec to realize who the setter set speed, just not fast enough, especially when outside hitter do a quick
This helps a lot! I’m 5’5 and my original way of blocking was the three step approach, jump and block. But I only hit one block out of tens of attempts due to the three step taking too much time, this makes it so much more consistent! Thank you 🙏
@@tttggfc9568high jump, there’s a middle blocker on my team who’s 5’5 too but because he jumps so high, his reach is when blocking is higher than our 6 foot middle blocker (also 5’5 dude is better at blocking than the 6 foot guy surprisingly)
Hey coach, I know this is an old video but I had a question. How can you get there faster when blocking opposite and outside as a middle blocker. I’m struggling and end up being late
Very nice vid keep going !! Might be usefull to make a little jump after any block. I heard it can prevent sport injuries and help for faster reactions.
Thank you for this. Have a question Is middle blocking the same as centre blocking coz back here in my country it's what we call it "centre blocking " ? Someone pliz help me understand this
Hi Coach Donny. Thanks for the videos. I am 53, and was an undersized 6'1 middle in my HS and colligate playing days. Now, my 16 year old son is needing to transition from playing left side to middle as he switches from his HS team to his club team. He needs work on his footwork for sure. My question is this. As an undersized middle, to help eliminate transition time, I was taught to land with one leg. So, if I was coming down and needing to transition to my right, I would land on my left leg, immediately push out to my right, and move into a swing block. I don't know if I had a crazy coach, or if it really saved me a split second as I felt it did. I am wondering if you've ever seen this? Is it still being taught? Or is that "old" volleyball? Just looking to help my son. Thanks.
i have a request in volleyball what is the correct position of receiving a ball and how to make it straight not curve while receiving it. sorry for my language.
can you please explain how to make transition from the blocks to the rush for attack (I don't know English phrases for that but i hope you get it 😅) I have online trainings and my coach is gonna be mad but I really don't know how to make it correctly....
It depends where you are. Usually there’s two blockers so while the other two are blocking you go back to be ready for an attack. But if you’re middle then you only come back while the ball is on your side
Thanks so much! Question: how much distance does the middle have to cover in this footwork? I'm trying to create drills for my daughter who is a 6 foot tall high school middle and I figured if she's in the center of the net and the ball gets set to one side or the other, she doesn't have to cover the full 15 feet to the antenna, she's going to have a hitter on each side of her who is also going to help block and they'll take up maybe 3 feet of space at the net, so she needs to cover 12 feet with this footwork? Is that correct? In this video it looks like there's about 5 feet between you and the antenna when when you were demonstrating the swing block, but I can't tell if you started in the center of the net or not.
Idk why but for some reason I always mess up the open cross hop footwork on my left side, right I’m ok with it but I can’t seem to get it in my head to do the left
Excuse me, let me ask you when blocking in the middle, what do you see first when the setter's hand is passing and after that you see the ball or the opponent's body
It really hard to block especially when u facing a good spiker I just hope for me to be able to open view for receiver but i really want to block all the ball coming huhu
if you dont have a volleyball court outside and you want to play anyways, what places should you go for? (theres no sand so beachvolleyball doesnt work)
Hi Coach, I'm 5 foot 4 but I can jump high enough to at least clear my hands above the net. Since there are only six people on my volleyball team, every time I rotate to middle front I try to do my job as a middle blocker and go up for almost every one of my opponent's hits. Because of my height I will usually go for the soft block but am I just wasting energy? Should I focus more on digging the tips/roll shots? I'm working on my vertical so I hope to become more effective on defense but I just wanted your opinion, thanks!
CAN ANYONE ANSWER THIS I REALLY NEED AN ANSWER - when do you block in volleyball? is there a specific time you block?? or do you block when the ball is close to the net? im a beginner
I got my first block today except after the block my elbow began hurting very badly which lead to me not being able to use it very nuch, what did I do wrong?
I am used to The swing block, But my coach says that there is no such thing and that i should do more of a open cross hop, that i should barely swing my arms at all, how should i go forward with that?
I find it really difficult to block the right and left side hitters whenever the setter does a quick set. My big body simply can't travel out to the hitters as fast as the ball. Blocking other middle blockers is easy, and it is easy to block the sides when the other side isn't ready to hit, but when both sides are in play, and the setter sets quick, I have absolutely no chance.

yes because you have momentum from the swing of the arms
