I know some do not like the Prometheus movie, but I LOVE it! The alien at the beginning sacrifices himself to get his race’s DNA into the Earth’s water that eventually mixes w/ Earth’s natural bacteria and evolves to become HUMANS. They were our makers and that’s what Waylon was looking to find, hoping, they could/would care about him, share info, and maybe even heal his old body. I can’t lie, if I had his money and means to do so, I’d probably have gone looking for them too, but I don’t think I’d have been bold enough to try to INTERACT with them. I’d just hang back and observe, satisfying my curiosity, and die happily. 😅This android, David wasn’t told to do what he did to Tom Hardy’s character; he did it because HE was curious. The Waylon team didn’t know about the canisters nor worms. They only wanted to be the first ones to meet and interact with the Engineers.

At first, I took a shot every time a character did something stupid. Had to switch to beer so that I wouldn't die of alcohol poisoning. In a fit of depression, I ate a pound of thick-sliced bacon......then I felt much better. Bacon cures everything.
This movie lifts the veil on many things, like the first Engineer seeding Earth with his DNA to create us. However, at some point the Engineers were not happy anymore with their creation, and they wanted to go back to Earth to wipe us out. The black goo is a biological weapon right from the start, it turns living beings into predatory horrors that will kill everything that lives. We see the proto-xenomorph at the end of the movie. David knows everything about this... However, too many things kinda spoiled the show as far as I'm concerned: no weapons on an unknown planet, taking off helmets, scientists approching an unknown organism (the "snake") without any caution, a woman running everywhere just after a c-section... Anyway, each one their own, so thanks for your pertinent reactions, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Nothing about that scene indicated that is was on Earth, and there was vegetation in the scene so it could not have been the origin of life. for all we know it was some random planet and it happened the same time that Shaw found that cave painting in Scotland.

Fun reaction, laughed at the vomit scene when you looked and she started again. Was excited for this film when it came out, saw by myself in a mostly empty theater. Story wasn't that great, loved it visually. Shaw & Halloway annoyed me, but still its a bridge to the original 70s Alien film. The "deacon" reminded me of a goblin shark. Hope you watch Covenant to complete the Alien journey.
Ah, I had such high hopes for this. If you REALLY want to be disappointed, read Jon Spahit's original Screenplay. This could have been on par with the original.
I love this movie. It's not a masterpiece like Alien, more like a horror fan's mix tape on a big budget. Ridley's amazing use of vanishing point perspective and multiple planes of action make this one go up a letter grade in 3D imo. The lower resolution of 3D also does some favors to the cgi 😉
I just realized she said 30 Amps going into that skull. That is A LOT of amps. With any significant voltage that would fry any tissue. You'd probably want to use microamps or less and a normal voltage that a computer can use. Of course this isn't even remotely close to how a neurological system works.

I like Prometheus, especially the director's Cut, but in the Covenant it's shit, Ridley Scott for some reason inserted two androids with a stupid scene into his film and many other moments that do not make sense in the plot at all.
Decent movie with great audiovisual design but the "let's just do shit without any precautions" motif is infuriating and makes me care much less about the crew.
The truly sad thing about Prometheus is that I can see the kernel of a great movie buried beneath the mountains of dirt that the mediocre score and even worse script shackled it with. It has good actors, a good director and a great concept - it just completely b0rks the landing.
