I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who was thinking of the same thing. I have a 2001 GMC Sierra and the high pressure hoses are garbage... I'm about to fabricate a hose out of all copper nickel tubing. Poster please be informed that you are dealing with double flares. When putting your tube in your flare bar, those little black discs are called " dies " . You use the dies to set the height of material required to flare. Then on the die, the side with the nipple goes into your tube, you use the yoke to squish it into a bubble flare. Then remove die, inspect for good symmetry then use the yoke to get your inside flare. Flare tools are very easy and clever

Very nice work! I love how you used the copper tubing to replace the rusted out steel parts. The flared ends that go into the rubber hose is a nice touch. Just out of curiosity how is the repair holding up. Thanks again for posting your video, it helps us all.

How much is a new OEM or aftermarket line? Wouldn't it be better to get a new line to save time and headache? Removing and putting the line back is time consuming enough.
If I got stranded like the professor on Gilligan's Island with all the time on my hands I would do it; otherwise,,,,,,,

why they crimp on some points and clamp on others....if they will make the all clamp it will be easier to repair by section....and guess what mine leaked on the crimped part which is supposed to be stronger than clamped

what makes a high pressure power steering hose your working on so expensive? They are all like that A-Z . We need power steering hose reform. Vehicle MFG :-(..They have the brake Line down but not the power steering hose which is nothing at all .:-(

Plumbing copper pipe do not rust. If copper and joints can withstand power steering pressures of about 1600 psi, why did car makers not use copper?

That is literally a hydraulic line with pressure up 4K and would be hard to fix unless you weld everything carefully and water test for leaks...
