  • These guys never cease to amaze me, no matter what the emergency is, they're the first ones in, last ones out. I'd also like to mention Capatin Herbert "Herbie" Johnson who passed away last week while fighting a fire on the city's South Side. May he rest in peace and may his family have the strength to go on without him. I never met him personally, but it seems that he was a great guy like many firefighters I do know.
    I have personally never needed the aid of the CFD and I hope I never do, but I know that if I ever do, I can count on them to do everything they are trained to do to help me just like they help people throughout the city every second of every day.
    A LOT of equipment responded to an emergency at Terminal 1 at O'Hare International Airport. I don't know what the emergency was, but I'm guessing it was a medical emergency or something similar due to how quickly everything was over and everyone left the scene compared to other emergencies I've witnessed at O'Hare.
    Recorded with a Samsung Epic Galaxy S II on Wednesday, November 7th, 2012.

    Considering everything the police & fire departments deal with on a daily basis, they sure deserve all the credit we can possibly give them. Sometimes the word "hero" gets overused but these people are the definition of that word. I have been watching all of the coverage of Mr. Johnson on the WGN News @ 9. He must have been a real gem of a guy. Sad.

    Yeah they did! I lost most of the hearing in my right ear, so when an unexpected loud noise happens, I normally jump, lol. I wasn't expecting that, and also, being somewhat under a tunnel made the echo louder, lol. Thanks for watching!

    Very nice video. It definitely wasn't a medical call because you can see some of the firemen with their SCBA packs on. Probably an alarm system. Since it is an airport an alarm system would in fact have a large response due to the population and other hazards surrounding it. But again, nice video.

    That is rare. I have only seen one other Heavy Rescue with the All Steer system.

    Don't worry, man, I got you. Yeah that makes sense. When I got down there, I thought the ambulances were gone by then, but the firefighter with the extinguisher does indicate a different sort of emergency. Thanks!

    That is engine 10, it has foam capabilities, that's why it's bigger than an engine in the city

    I remember a video of the O'hare rescue responding with actual mechanical Q2B. I can't find the video. Does it still exist?

    Hey it's Nick N from ORD (nick0912nascar). I did subscribe to you, though I use this account more so I did from here. Anyways, this was not a medical call. A typical ems run would send an ambulance and perhaps an engine, not the trucks (have the ladder on the top), squads, and stair truck. I would guess this was either a small fire or false fire alarm activation, as those are usually quick to fix, and at the end of the video one of the fire fighters is walking around with a fire extinguisher.

    Yes it does kind of look like they're on a medical call, but some of the fire trucks that are there don't deal with medical emergencies, they only need the ground step truck if they only need to deal with a medical emergency on an airplane, they do have a fire engine and the rescue truck which they always respond to Medical calls show those two trucks should be there but the aerial purpose trucks like the ladder truck and ground step unit shouldn't be there unless it's dealing with an emergency on a plane or in high places

    You're all wrong. The Fire apparatus and personnel are funded by the FAA. All salaries, apparatus, firehouses are all paid for by the FAA.

  • @firepower782
    @firepower782 11 лет назад

    Actually no, at O'Hare for instance the fire protection is funded by the city of/and the taxpayers of Chicago, which is why they are Chicago Fire Department apparatus. The airport where I live (Nashville International) has it's own police/fire/ems department run by the airport authority. Still, funded by local government. Every place is a little different but the only federal funded positions I can think of are the Air Traffic Controllers & the TSA screeners.
