The last and lonely unicorn sadly hangs his magic horn
He just read the news and he doesn't know what to feel
For the paper he read just told him that he isn't real
Now he's staring at the wall, thought that he had seen it all
He can't understand and he can't get his mind around this
It's hard to know what to feel when you don't exist.
And outside the window there's nothing he can recognize
Wiping a tear from his unicorn eyes he's wondering why as he looks to the sky and sings:
I can remember when castles were all you could see
And I loved a princess who played in a band with me
And we sang all our songs to the stars
Jamming as Princess Rainbow played guitar
Princess Rainbows red guitar was covered up with hearts stars
And when she played the wizards and the giants they all gathered round
And the uincorn- he fell in love with her sound.
And how she used to make it sing so loudly about everything
And the trolls sang along to all the songs that they made
And the unicorn- he fell in love as she played
A terrible storm blew over a concert they gave
It blew as they played, and though they were brave
The storm hit the stage and it blew them away
I can remember when castles were all you could see
And I loved a princess who played in a band with me
And we sang all our songs to the stars
Jamming as Princess Rainbow played guitar
So this is what Steve has been up to!?
Steve, I thought you went to college!
yup :)
A lot more than this! Album "Songs for Dustmites", some movies, a stage talk about the BC years. I've enjoyed following.
He turned into Moby?
Yeah because I remember that Steve went to college in original blue's clues season 4 episode 24 : Steve goes to college in 2002 and now he's currently a RUclipsr here in RUclips for this year 2021🤩
My blind daughter absolutely Loved "Blues Clues". When I came across Steve's interview, I had to check this out for her. We fell in Love with this Song. Now, We both have to hear it at least once a day. Beautiful. Great Job, Steve.
That's really wonderful, Donna! Amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this but this song has such an underlying message. I think the message is to hang on to what you believe and see yourself achieving in life. Like as we get older everyone wants to tell us that we can't achieve our dreams or that we can't accomplish great things. The unicorn didn't think he was make believe until someone told him that he was. The message is not to let those around you tell you who you can be. Be yourself and believe in yourself to be everything that you want to be. I personally believe this is such a beautiful song for life.
It really is and you described it amazingly
I agree with you whole heartedly.
That's what bugged me, have those people ever tried to persist enough and kept trying other paths to their goals and dreams. It was always unsettling that they tell us that just because they gave up. They should not sugar coat their insecurities and throw it out there as "advice". That's as much as bad advice with the whole list of bad ideas and advices.
Also don’t listen to what others say about you when looking for advice about how strong your message is. Just create your message and never stop believing in it with all your heart knowing that the magic is already happening
I also think it shows the unicorn trying to hide who he is and then proudly putting his horn back on to embrace his truth. I see it more as being OK with who you really are instead of trying to hide it because of what others say. Self-acceptance and pride.
Awesome tune Steve! Seriously and most sincerely. If I wasn't told it was a kids song, I wouldn't have known. Sounds so Beatles meets Floyd. Great song crafting.
hueseph eh I wouldn't go that far. Can't ever compare anyone to Floyd of the Beatles. Ever he does have triply sound tho
Kaleb Villarreal Steven Drozd is brilliant in his own right though. He wrote the melody on this and has written all the flaming lips melodies since the 90s.
Dude!! I was thinking the same thing!!!! I was watching a Tiger Belly podcast and Bobby Lee mentioned Steve Burns so I looked him up and it turns out that it was the Blue's Clue's host. I had no idea what his name was. And then on top of that, I confused him for the Subway guy. I thought he was the guy that got arrested for child porno. Then I googled "Steve Burns arrested" which took me to his Wiki page... Twas thy story of how I foundith about his music career. This sounds like the Beatles if they tried to cover a Of Monsters and Men song lol. AMAZING. I'm sure you're not going to read this whole message but I'm just shocked.
I am 24 years old and still obsessed with Steve Burns. He's one of my longest lasting 'celebrity crushes.'

The story I read that Steven Drozd real life kids was in the music video, his son daniel played steven's younger self and the princess rainbow was played his daughter Charlotte
Amanda Hunnicutt You are correct.
my kids and I heard this one morning on kids place on siriusxm. I was driving them to daycare on morning. she told me we couldn't get out of the car till it was over. after it was done she had a few tears coming down her face. I asked her what was wrong and she said nothing that this song is just so beautiful. she is only 4 and I agree with her. we listen to it daily now and if you guys ever come to California we will love to see you guys. Thank you for being part of a beautiful moment I shared with my daughter.
Steve meets the Flaming Lips. A match I never would have imagined and its the best thing of all time. My childhood meets my modern self and I'm so happy this exists. Keep creating things that make people happy. Keep doing good for this world.
I don't know if this is meant to be about losing someone you love..but that's how I interpreted it..and it hit home
Bella.
Wow, I'm twenty years old now, and this is my first time seeing Steve since I was a little kid. Hearing his voice and seeing him was so nostalgic. I also don't care that this music is for kids, I'll happily listen.
this is so rad, im happy i got steve as a kid and this fucking genius as an adult.
STEVE! Still making us happy.
Of course he was because Steve is still making us happy even though he's not a blue's clues host anymore 😔 😔💔 but he will always be the best host of blue's clues , forever and ever in our hearts ☺️
I was not really expecting to cry throughout the entire video, but it's so emotionally touching! Gorgeous song and video with so much love and care put into it! I don't have children, but I'm very creative and I love to experience other artists' creations. And I believe that's what keeps us all youthful. I've been a fan of both the Steves for many years.
It's a universal theme, isn't it? I ALWAYS dry when the princess comes back - every. single. time. ;)
Wow if Pandora just played this song on my MGMT radio without telling me it was for kids I'd love it.
My kids grew up with SB, and we made sure to follow some of his post-BC activities. Now my brother has young kids, and I showed my 3-year old niece (the unicorn fan) this video and she audibly *GASPED* when Princess Rainbow transformed from child to adult. It was soooo sweet and special - I knew she was totally getting the story!
I make the 4-hour drive to my brother's about once a month, and EVERY time she asks me to show her the "unicorn song". She likes the others too, but this one is her absolute favorite. Thank you, Steven and Steven, for making quality music videos and songs for the younger ones!
Awe! That little girl was signing the lyrics too cute! (And reminds me of blue's clues when Steve would sign little words to kids). All of this was so touching! ❤️
No matter the song, I am always going to listen to Steve Burns' music. I've watched Blue's Clues since I was a little kid and I still love the show because I watch it for nostalgic reasons now.
Thanks, Steve, for making my childhood
This is like if The Flaming Lips made kids music. This is really good.
CatPianoClassics #StevenDrozd from the #FlamingLips on 🎸
guys this is beautiful and amazing
I agree with senpai
Smooth! YOU are beautiful and amazing. You guys should collab!
Smooth McGroove When I closed my eyes, I recognized Steve from Blues Clues, singing...
Wtf are you doing here lmao
Amazing! Omg phenomenal
I came over to RUclips from an interview article just to be able to give you a thumbs up. I love the song myself. I think my grandson will really love it too.
Just shared with Ayden (my son you helped to learn talk) he loved this song and seeing you again. "WOW, he's talented mom" We have listened about 5 times today!!
This is great! Glad the Huffington Post article on the original Steve from Blue's Clues linked to it!
I just NOW found Steve and heard his song! I absolutely LOVE it! And might I say... how great he looks btw! Wow! 😍Now I must go find more of his songs to enjoy...❤❤❤
He just wants to make kids happy ^u^ awww
Whenever anyone asks me my favorite song, I tell them this one. Artist and all. Thank you, steve and Steve
I’m just finding all this BEAUTIFUL MUSIC as I watched with my 2 year old son the same episodes of “Steve goes to college” that I saw when I was a kid and I still cried the same way I did as a child. You taught me so much, Steve, and now you’re teaching my child. You mean so much to me, my kiddo, and all the millions of kids that know of you. Thank you, Steve, thank you so much. You were my first childhood crush and always will be ❤️
I've had this on my I-pod for a month or 2 now, and I'm addicted to it. Soooo happy it's finally on youtube. Also, to whoever disliked it must not have grown up with blue's clues.
Batsonic Abie I'm actually here because I grew up with Blue's Clues
Same here@@lavenderthepup8595 because I'm actually here because I grew up with blue's clues when Steve is a host of blue's clues since season 1 until his very last episode of original blue's clues season 4 in 2002 and Joe took his spot as a new host of original blue's clues season 5 ( 2002 - 2003 ) & season 6 ( 2004 - 2006 ) and now I'm already 15 years old , I grew up watching blue's clues and you ( which is the reboot version of the original blue's clues series ) with the new first ever Filipino 🇵🇭 American 🇺🇸 host , Josh ( Joshua Dela Cruz 💙 )
I actually like it! Good for you Steve!!!!
This is perfect. Beautiful. Wonderful. Can't wait to share it with my 3 year old daughter. Thank you for doing this. Hope you post more of these.
Very calming and touching song Blues Clues guy.
I cried. Sweet. Brings back a loving memory. Creation presented with clear virtue.
A childhood classic
I like how they used sign language in their video.
Wow Steve. This is some amazingly groovy stuff. My kids grew up with you but I am certainly glad you are making music like this now. Thanks!
This just make me happy. I want it on vinyl.
thank you Steve for having me experience what it's like to be on Acid.
Everyone else: **talking about Blue's Clues and Steve in general**
Me: Nice horn.
Who else listened to the Foreverywhere audiobook out of nostalgia and actually liked the story?
I loooove the song even though it's for kids
Three thumbs up 👍👍👍and three stars🌟🌟🌟 for this amazing song 👌
I showed this video in EVERY STEM summer camp we held this year. Kids (11-16) really DUG the music! As a historian - as someone who teaches STEM camps for NASA students - this is so good. SOOO GOOD and INSPIRATIONAL. Thank you.....if you are ever in the Houston area.....FREE/FRESH Mexican food at Mi Casa!!!! :)
I'm late to the party as usual, but I had to add my 4 cents and one thumb up. This song is great, as in GREAT great. I loved it immediately. Maybe because I'm a 57 year old hippie and thus perfectly within the child audience they were aiming at, or maybe because it's a great song. Either way, I'm so grateful that you are making music Steve and Flaming Lips guy! It is a wonderful thing you have brought into the world. And even though it kind of makes me want to cry, I predict that I will be listening to this special song for all the years before me. A lifetime companion song, thank you, guys.
these songs needs to be in the history books at any and all achools 🔥
Im going to cry again because it's been a while since I first saw you in blue's clues 😭😭😭💔 and good to see you again Steve ☺️
I'm so happy steve pursued music
Of course he was because Steve is a good musician so that's why he's my favorite character from original blue's clues when I was little until now
Blue Clues was my childhood and Yo Gabba Gabba was my nephew's. Now that he's a little older I didn't think he would like this, but he loves it just as much as I do. I feel like Steve just knows and understands kids perfectly.
Of course he was because he still be our best friend in blue's clues alongside Blue 💙 , Joe 💜 and the current host of blue's clues and you Josh 💙 even though he's not a blue's clues host anymore but I'm always here to support Steve as always ☺️
Congrats, lovely song. Thanks for all the wonderful times you have shared with so many of us.
It's a good thing Steve Burns is performing because everyone will know him as himself from "Blue's Clues".
STEVE! STEVE! STEEEEVVVVEEE I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU AGAIN!! WHEN YOU LEFT BLUES CLUES WHEN I WAS YOUNGER IT RUINED MY LIFE! BEEN LOOKIN FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AGAIN EVER SINCE AND HERE YOU ARE! I'M ALMOST 21 NOW AND I'M A GUY AND I AM DIGGING THIS JAM!
He had a reason because of his Hair and plus he was aging. He does have the famous Thinking Chair and Handy Dandy Note book in his Study.
Just stumbled across this; can't wait to share with my children. Beautiful song
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!
A modern "Puff The Magic Dragon"!
Well done, my friend, well done...
NOW GO DO A STORY FOR CHILLING TALES FOR DARK NIGHTS!!!!
I don't know why, but I connect with this so damn much....
MAGICAL. Absolutely magical.
Thank you steve, excited to see what you have for us next.
Me too , I'm so excited to see what Steve have for us next for this year 2021 😆😆😆
Aw, my heart. Such a sweet story and video.
I really love and needed this song in my life. Thanks Steve. ❤️
my soul deeply appreciates this song & video
Omg this is sooo pure and beautiful ❤
Your childhood and imagination only die if you fully give up on them. At any time, you can follow those unicorns right back up those rainbows. Don't forget that.
My kids & I love this song!! So glad we heard it on Kids Place Live and are getting to hear new music!!
Holy crow, those feels. So amazing. As someone who used to stream Songs for Dustmites off of your website daily (sorry for the bandwidth hogging all those years ago) I feel like this is such a strong continuation of concept. This made my day.
I am discovering this just in time for my 4 year old grand daughter to enjoy...I used to sit my own children and watch Blues Clues...best show for kids...as an adult I had discovered Flaming Lips and well, WOW....this combo is magical and I just cannot wait to see my little ones face when she sees the video and hears the entire album...very Niisson-esque with "The Point".....LOVE IT, LOVE it....
As someone who APPRECIATES and LOVES the ART that is what you witness above....and who unapologetically understands my "work" will not ever be in the same realm - but the talent and creativity REMAIN - major, major PROPS to the editors and writers of this piece....how LOVELY....and how very MUCH NEEDED in the times we live! Steve Burn has a soul for touching our lives.....simply listen to his words and watch his beautiful video. Thank you, whomever you are....much inspired and much appreciated!!!
We love Steve!!!
I love the song and video. Thank you.
Edit: Every time I listen to this song my heart is lightened.
Wow, Steve's very good. Thanks for sharing; Jesus Christ Bless : )

This song is amazing. Love it!
Phenomenal! Bravo! Standing ovation!!!
This is incredible. Just wow.

This song is fantastic! Looking forward to the full album!
Love you Steve. Amazing song ♡
This song is pure magic.
I almost shed a tear when I was watching this... I missed you Steve... Say hi to Joe and Blue for me... :'(
Were all grateful to your help after all these years Steve. You made Preschool and the toddlers at home learn new things that they could never do before "including me." As a late 90s baby "born 1997" I know that you helped us in learning things like our Solar System, Friendship, and in general any Episode of Blues Clues that was ever produced until your great Brother came alone and took the legacy forward while your character went off to college and left Messages to tell the folks that your still alive and well. "But in the specials you did show up just to party with the funny hats" So do keep up the good work, and remember we can do anything... That we wanna do!
The Solar System song is the main reason that Pluto will always be a planet to me. Because Steve said it was! lol
Steve sounds like David Gilmour when he sings. It's *that* amazing.
Absolutley amazing song, love it!
Looking forward to the album!! I love this song, real chill.
I love this so much.
when I saw this I was like OMG SO COOL FOR YOU'RE FIRST TIME.OMG SO GOOD.Keep it up I like.good job
This might be the best song in the entire history of songs.
I cannot believe that the dude with the glasses is Steve from Blue's Clues. He looks so different!
Nicole M not if you draw hair on him lol not trying to be mean but he said it himself that that's why he looks so different and left Blues Clues cause he was balding
He now looks like late actor Richard Deacon ( Fred Rutherford from “Leave It to Beaver”)
Such an awesome song!
LOVE IT!!!
Wow, I love this!
Love this!
This is work of art
This is absolutely beautiful.
I can't explain what it is, but something about this song touches me really deeply.
Incredible job!
I love it! Keep it up Stevens'!
Fantastic Steve, still at it
This was fantastic ❤
Wow....*mind blown*
This is sooo good!
This song is awesome
Great 80's vibe
I like it!
