The voice commands (IMO) are about the best in the business - only cars with Alexa are better although as the Mini guy says if you don't get it right you'll be frustrated and likely stop trying. Great video (as always)
The pre-set buttons are great for other features that you may or may not like - I really don't like the heads up display but I often borrow my son's mini (and his key) which has it set to pop up in his profile going along with his key. I've set the pre-set button #6 to turn off the HUD so I've not changed his profile's preference. The buttons are still "touch sensitive" too - when you touch them the display shows what it's set to and you can choose to press it or not - if folks haven't owned a BMW before they may not know.
Great informative video. You seem to be the man in the know, is there a replacement badge for the centre of the steering wheel that’s the same as the one already on it?
I'm new to Mini's. Just got a 2017 Mini Cooper F56 1.5 Turbo with the JCW upgrade but my voice control does not work. Is there any way to activate this?
Can you give information if you want to change yourself musical track from steering wheel, but don’t have navigation and hence, you don’t have apple play.
(assuming you're streaming over bluetooth) you'll have to use the track change buttons on the center information console just below the display. Annoying but at least you can change the tracks - if your location allows it a mobile phone holder with changing the tracks on your device is sometimes a better option - some apps (like Spotify) have a "driving mode" where the buttons are larger and the interface is simplified for use on the go.
Anyone know if you can set the arrows on the steering wheel to change songs on the media setting? Like if I’m playing music from my phone I can’t change the songs with the arrows :(
The Media Controls are ABSURD. Up is back, Down is forward, increase and decrease sound are right and left. Who else does this? Does anyone know if it's possible to rotate the controls a quarter turn clockwise? At least forward/back volume up and down make SENSE.
Always easier when someone talks you through it rather than reading from the owner's manual, thanks.
Thank you. So useful. I have a new mini and am slowly learning all the things it can do, so any content is really great.
Just subscribed! Looking forward to more of your useful “how to” content on the F56. Keep up the great work!
