The DS1 planetarium has got to be one of my best investments ever! I've purchased multiple star planetariums (homestar flux, pococo, uncle milton) and none of them can even come close to this beauty. Super worth it and I would highly recommend it! Unique and superb planetarium.
How is it different from the homestar flux? I’ve got that one for my son but want to get a star projector for my daughter now. Is it worth the extra cost?over double the cost?
@@sarahbluml7108 the older model would allow you to turn the projector off and still have the option for the core alone to illuminate light behind the constellation design acting as a really cool looking night light.
@@sarahbluml7108The unit was able to emit light locally similar to a night light. Now it's only capable of projecting light onto a surface outside of itself.

My partner likes to watch TV at night, will the TV interrupt too much for the projector to work? This will be put in a smaller living room where the TV illuminates about halfway down the ceiling with lights off. Does it work on a battery or does it have to be constantly plugged in? Lastly, can this be on all the time? or does auto shutoff cut in after an hour or so? I appreciate any advice!
Depends on how bright the TV image is, generally these work best in total darkness so I'd expect it would look washed out with the TV on. This model requires a power outlet, the recently release FX has a battery (see ruclips.net/video/p6zIl4Z949E/видео.html). It has an auto shut off timer control (most do as people like to fall asleep under the stars).
@@besthomeplanetarium I wrote to DS. The night light function will be available again. Probably at the end of the year. I also think it looks very good. I will also buy the DS-1 then.😁
I don't know why anyone would want to use the rotation feature. If you were camping outside and looking up into the starry night sky, would you expect everything to be rotating? NO. Otherwise it's awesome, if expensive.
@@sageinit That perceived rotation was the foundation for the long-ago disproved belief that the Earth is the center of the Universe and that everything rotates around the Earth. The reality is that It's the Earth that rotates not the sky. This is very basic astronomy.

Does my ceiling have to be flat? I have white squares.

Is it accurate? Does it have the right positions of stars like 3 kings, 3 sisters, orion's belt etc.?
I’m going to pick up a DS-1 however I think it’s BS that they still charge $600 and it doesn’t have the nightlight feature anymore
What did the nightlight feature do?
Nightlight feature?

Well put together video.

How is the chrome disk giving off a bluish/purplish tint when projected? Shouldn't it be all black & white?
Can you show some of the other discs that you can purchase?
Great idea 👍
Very well made video.
Why is the night light function no longer available?
Thanks. They took the decision to remove it for either a cost or technical reason, it happened a long time ago.

How much cost each disk
Depends on the disc, check dark-skys.com/collections/star-discs for the full list and pricing of each.
That price tag is so steep
Are the discs compatible with the ones for the Sega homestar?
No, they're different sized discs.
This looks really cool but 600 bucks is a way to much for something like this let me know when its on sale
They've a budget option ruclips.net/video/kWWSsKJx5sw/видео.html

600 dollars- a little too steep in price for me

@breakfastwithastraydog7237 your stomach might disagree
The Sky does rotate tho, just lie still enough for a long time and you'll notice

Not worth the price without the nightlight feature.
