no hate or malice is intended to the original creator, but a lot of these were either half-true, left certain important context out, lacked any kind of source, or some were just straight up made up ship fuel nonsense.

because im tired of receiving comments about it and replying with the same thing over and over again: sayaka and mukuro appeared in the demo version of the class trial.
however:
- this *still* ignores that DR3, UDG, and any novel-exclusive characters never went to trial
- this ignores the imposter appearing in 2-6 and having trial assets
- this ignores rantaro never appearing in a class trial, having no assets, and his (only supposed, btw) trials taking place exclusively off-screen
- this suggests that a demo version of DR1's case is more canonical than entirely canon spinoff titles
any comments regarding it from this point forth (and in a few hours preceding its addition) will get deleted.
Did everyone clicking on this video just gloss over my comment? If that was the case, then why the hell does it have over 70 likes then? Especially considering the amount of views on this video

I believe Korekiyo and Ryoma are the only characters who have been confirmed to be in a relationship with someone at some point. Mikan is also implied to have been in numerous relationships with various male partners.

Okay, apparently they do credit the artists. In the OG video they have a link that gives links to all those art that was used in the video, but even then, they didn't ask for permission so that's still a pretty scummy thing to do

Not all of them, I saw they only had like two or three links in the description of their video, and there was WAY more than two or three pieces of fan art used.
Plus, they don't even ask the creators themselves, which is still kind of scummy.

Ex. 'Korekiyo' derives from "kore wo kiyomeru" which means "to purify/exorcise this" in foreshadowing of his execution. It is a nuanced meaning that would be invisible if one only looked up the meaning of the kanji.

personally i'm most angry about the "Danganronpa characters and nationalities", primarily because the video was racist garbage - almost every character with dark skin was Brazillian, and most characters were flung haphazardly into Europe with no rhyme or reason, even though the game makes it obvious they're all Japanese (with two exceptions; Angie is implied to at least be mixed, if not fully indigenous Polynesian, and Sonia is actually European - but she's not English/British. given her name, even though now names are a pretty global affair, the implication i got is she's East/North-east European.

I don't think they even used Google translate. I'm pretty sure they just came up with the names on the spot. Idk anything about Japanese so i might be wrong, but I couldn't find any link (even though translate) between Mondo's name and butter, and the video claimed mondo meant butter.

even when i suggested a headcanon that hiyoko could be mixed ethnicity of Korean/Japanese, admittedly based on flimsy as hell knowledge from a western perspective, i acknowledged how strongly connected Hiyoko was with Japanese tradition. the idea that she's Swedish proves the creator of the video didn't even think about it; just threw a dart at a map of Europe.
A fact they could've added is that Kirumi Tojo shares a surname with Former Japanese Prime Minister/Minister of War/War Criminal Hideki Tojo, who was alive during the Showa period and Japan's entry into WW2. I mention this because they were both the de facto leader of Japan (In Tojo's lifetime, the Emperor had become more of a ceremonial role, due to the military pretty much controlling the country). He was also one of the very few who were actually put to justice, as the US would let most Japanese warcriminals get off scott free if they told them the knowledge they had gained from their various human experiments.

While that 3rd fact was completely blatant, I think they were also counting the Class Trials for promotional demos for THH and V3. There are 2 BIG problems with this.
1. They are extremely different demos, which, from fandom experience means their timeline isn't part of the canon Danganronpa multiverse in a way like the IDW comics are part of the Sonic multiverse.
2. In the V3 demo, while Rantaro wasn't killed, he STILL didn't participate in the demo's trial as he, along with Keebo, had to wait on the sidelines in a separate room just to make room for Makoto and Hajime in the Trial.

i know where this video came from and the person who made the video annoys me to no end. They did a sprite edit video and they used a crossover sprite as a “Kaede as the Ultimate Race Car Driver” when it was a crossover of Zero Escape.
Oh my god they made that video too? Guess it isn't surprising, not only do they steal fan art, they steal fan sprites too! Whoever this is probably just wants to milk off the franchise without putting any work in themselves beyond the like...30 minutes of going into google images.

You know what really bothers me in stuff like this? The constant use of fanart, with them not even bothering to credit it.

that's been the case for a lot of people who make videos for the DR community on youtube these days, if i'm honest. they're faster to make than long analysis videos and tend to not require anybody to think, so people opt for them and get thousands of views. i don't hate the original creator, but their videos are certainly questionably made.

These videos honestly make me so mad cause sometimes they're just giving false info and not only that taking arts from artists and not crediting them (correct me if I'm wrong) is something I despise
the videos are cheaply produced with stolen assets from other fans and false information. i don't hate the creator of the video, but i don't think he should be getting the views and attention that he is. he's essentially using the fact fans can't sue over fanart as a line of defense for his video creation.

Here to debunk number 4 there's not any REAL proof that Peko owns a sword. It's just implied. It's not like we've seen her use a sword anywhere in the game.

Also, as someone who follow numerous artists on multiple platforms, it genuinely makes my blood boil to see all these fanarts get stolen. I just uploaded 2 MEP parts not too long ago and I did my best to make sure I gave proper credit (pixiv/twitter/tumblr links, not pinterest ones lmaooo)

I was watching a friend play THH the other day and I'm not sure of it was in his free time events or when but byakuya *does* say he personally has $4 billion outside of his togami family funds
For the 1:25 one I do belive that it is true because Byakuya and Asahina both have blue eyes which are recessive meaning BOTH parents need them whilst Toukos eyes are like either a grey or purple
danganronpa genetics are weird, though, since several characters have candy-hued eyes that aren't stated to be contact lenses (kotoko and chiaki both have pink eyes - where is kotoko going to find colour contacts during the apocalypse, well after junko dies?). it's pointless to apply genetics since while non-brown eyes are pretty rare (not impossible, but rare) for Asian people irl, most danganronpa characters do have a multitude of eye colours.

Same, it irks me that they're all still up, even more so that some fans actually BELIEVE them.
There is only one huge oversight here, the actor who played Makoto in Japanese was doing a written interview as Makoto and said that autumn reminded him of Kyoko because her birthday was in autumn. This was used during the promotion for the DR 3 anime. So, while not officially “canon“, it is definitely more than “fanfiction nonsense“.

there's a very loose definition of actor here; if we're talking about the VA, it can't be true, since the voice actor for Makoto in JPN is a woman. if it's his stage play actor, id still argue that it rides the line of fanfiction nonsense and is more their own interpretation of method acting.
@@DetectiveNyx I was referring to a magazine article I found a while ago that was used as promotional material for the release of the DR 3 anime. RUclips won't let me share the link, so all I can say is that it was in Otomedia Magazine a while ago.
Also, the term actor is used to refer to any actor regardless of gender. I wasn't trying to be loose with the definition, I was trying to be respectful. I'm know it was a woman who voiced Makoto, but I was mistaken that they had something to do with the interview. It was actually written by the staff working on the DR 3 anime itself.
So while it's technically not cannon, since it was used for promotional material, I still think it has a bit more validity. But it's up for debate, really.
my apologies; i misread it as the actor was reminded of kyouko because her birthday was in autumn, but someone else did provide the actual (translated) quote, and the question deliberately asked him what person popped up in mind when autumn was mentioned. so it's not "autumn comes around and makoto immediately thinks of kyouko for the entire season", but "someone asked me who i thought of when they said autumn, and kyouko is who i think of first".
i found the actual response way more fascinating, so it's weird that they wouldn't put in the full context.

Hey Aeris! I like the concept of the video so I wanted to clarify one of these facts and something you said at 3:51.
In the Otomedia magazine, there's a DR3 QnA thing, and in one of these the question was for makoto and it was like "Tell us who is the first person that comes to your mind when you think about 'Autumn’." Makoto's answer was like:
“Um…. Kirigiri-san, I guess. She’s cool but also has a really warm and gentle side- I believe that’s very much like her. I-I don’t mean that in a weird way! Y-You know, coincidentally her birthday is in October… O-Of course I would remember when her birthday is. I mean, she’s a really important friend to me… Eh, “When is Hagakure-kun’s birthday?” U-Umm…. A-Ahaha! I might’ve forgotten… I think?”
And I don't have proof of it myself but people say that Kodaka wrote it.
So yeah, I wouldn't say that it's fanfiction nonsense, but I wouldn't call it canon too.

thing is, ive gotten another comment saying that it wasn't kodaka who wrote it, but the person who either voice acts him or his stage actor (so because it isn't the official writer, kind of still is fanfiction nonsense, even if from higher up on the fanfiction ladder. the original video also doesn't make where the fact come from very clear, which would be infinitely more fascinating, imo.

0:12 The fact about the Ultimate Imposter is technically correct when you consider the demos as Sayaka, Mukuro and Rantaro all appear in the demo trials. I guess they weren't counting UDG as it isn't a mainline game.
Still a poorly researched video overall. I've noticed misinformation seems to spread easily in the DR fandom
i don't understand why they wouldn't count UDG but count the demo version of Danganronpa 1, and even if that's the case, since facts about DR3's cast appeared in the video, they are counted - and didn't go to trial, so the fact is incorrect. (rantaro also does not participate in the demo trial - he goes, but sits out with kiibo.)
If we go by bare minimum point of being in a class trial as in, has stood by a stand in a game, then you can make a extreme leap in logic and say that the ultimate imposter technically did have a point where he was in a class trial via 2-6 hallucinations where he appears, but that is the most insane leaps in logic that is still not true, since the hallucinations were actually a happy ending, so yeah, shitty rant over.

it really does only stand on the idea that rantaro was in previous killing game(s) and thus had to have been in at least 1 class trial tho

Some people during the SDR2 era liked to use the lack of a SDR2 demo to state the imposter was the only one to never appear in a trial (canon or not). It was more a way of making people aware that he was the only one who never got trial assets... Shrugging off the 2-6 hallucination because this joke started (iirc) mid translation from oen on SA. His presence in 2-6 wasn't common knowledge, but I recall people clowning on the DR1 demo around that time.
I think this 'fact' is actually probably a remnant of that joke being forced into working with the story of DRV3. Like someone really wanted to let the joke still be true, realized Rantaro had to have seen a class trial before, and totally changed the premise from being about "a lack of assets" that wasn't accurate in the first place to being "participating in any class trial, canon or non canon, onscreen or off screen, as a living, actual person".
It's kinda like if I said "fun fact: Kaede is the only character to have exclusively experienced class trials where the wrong person was selected as the culprit and executed anyway."
Technically true. Kind of fun to observe. But if a theoretical DRV4 had a character get wrongfully executed in Case 1, but that character participated in a class trial demo video that uses a custom case and not the first case as a model that they published to show off some new mechanic, if I REALLY wanted my dumb observation to maintain relevance, I declare that counts as a second trial experience.
It's a matter of the original joke being a true observation at the time and then being warped by revisions that ignore the original intent to try and force it to remain relevant.
Ok here are some actual facts
1) not every character shares the same talent between the eng and jp versions of the game for example Pekoyama and Junko, in english they are the Ultimate Swordswoman and Fashionista whilst in the jp version they are the cho koko kyu no kendoka and cho koko kyu no gyaru respectively, another fun fact is that instead of using 博徒 (Bakuto, which is gambler in japanese) in the JP version Celestias talent is instead translated as gyanburā, which is apperantly meant to keep up her facade of her being european

6:54 this actually technically isn't true. While Sakura does have romantic feelings for Kenshiro, the two never actually dated. It's also not confirmed if Kenshiro returned her feelings or not.
There is a point in the dr manga anthology where mukuro and sayaka attended a mock class trial where makoto was the "victim", but you're right about the udg characters

Based on the comments, I actually thought his videos are fun to watch, especially the Talent Swap ones because it's very common to see a talent get swap in fanart or fanfiction.
Some of the art I did noticed that I remembered. The only thing I hate from his videos is that he doesn't include Ultra Despair Girls stuff and I live that game.

We’ve seen her classmates’ reactions in both Chapter 3 of DR2, and during her introduction in DR3, in which Peko and the Imposter are the only ones absent. However, the Imposter is shown to not be a fan of Ibuki’s music, according to her relationship chart in the official art book.

since they never specified it, no, we can't. even if we could, if we're talking about only the main games, then why count the demo for DR1, since it's non-canon? why count rantaro, since his "other trials" are only implied through his role as Ultimate Survivor and not explicit? the imposter actually DOES appear in the final trial of DR2 as a simulation, and given he lives afterwards, arguably that could be him attending the class trial.
in order to justify the Imposter as the only one to never go to a trial, you have to really stretch everything all over the place, and by that point, it's not a fun fact. it's like saying "leon is the only male with red hair, if you ignore ultra despair girls and dr3 and count ryoma as brown-haired" - if you have to add that many modifiers, it might just be untrue.

Fact 3 is true if we count all trials including noncanon ones, I believe. DR1 demo features Sayaka and 'Junko' at Class Trial and V3 demo, while it has Rantaro not take a stand, has him arrive to trial grounds with the others alive and well. The fact just lacked clarification that it included all official trials and such, and not just canon.

5:00 I kinda did the math (English release of the game which takes place in 2014) and then did how the school sorts you into classes with April births being the oldest then subtract their age from their class number at Hope's peak or in the case of Hiroko add 14 years onto Hiro's age as she was 14 when she had him, although some characters such as Tengan, the two unnamed P.E teachers, the SHSL elite task force and Miaya Gekkogohara have no known class batch number which makes it impossible to know their exact age

@@DetectiveNyx Despite the fact that she says her age is a secret, a page in the artbook showing Hiroko's beta designs reveals that she is "approximately 36" years old. Considering her son's age, that means she had him when she was only around 14 years old.
Of course this was in an art book and for a beta design so things could change, I'm under the assumption that they didnt, plus considering alot of black parent stereotypes associated with Yasuhiro (although mainly about black dads) it wouldnt be that suprising that Kodaka would do something like that

6:36 I'm not at all opposed to Mikan being bisexual, but other than the masculine and feminine icons appearing by her name in the opening, which can also be interpreted for their use in the medical field, there is very little that actually suggests Mikan is attracted to both genders, so to call her bisexuality "heavily implied" isn't accurate. The two examples of her being attracted to women that you provided (I assume they ARE examples of that, you were oddly vague about them) are extremely weak, because for one, Mikan's love of Junko was not a natural infatuation, it was the result of her mind being altered and corrupted to worship her, which isn't even exclusive to her, and was a trait that ALL of the remnants shared. Secondly, if by "episode 2 of Despair Arc" you mean the scene where Mikan harasses Peko for her sword, this is also an extremely weak example of Mikan being attracted to women, since she only shows interest in her sword, not Peko herself.
The reason I bring this up is because for the better half of this video, you were very factual and non-biased, pointing out errors and inaccuracies in even some of the more credible, albeit not entirely accurate pieces of trivia. (Asahina's children, Angie being Polynesian, etc.) You even pointed out the over-exaggeration of some of the truer facts, and how some facts were common knowledge among the fandom. So for you to suddenly provide such a loose justification of one of the facts while being extremely vague about your examples of its validity, something about that didn't line up with the tone of the rest of the video. This was even almost right after you pointed out how the video was supposed to be "50 facts and not 50 speculations."
Again, I really want to thank you for bringing attention to Sei World's inaccuracies, their videos about Danganronpa trivia are highly non-credible, and it has bothered me for a while that they are providing misinformation to a large and impressionable audience. Still, I just wanted to point out the contradiction you made in your response to them.
the dr3 anime was not written by kodaka himself - what was written in sdr2 is not what made it to a rushed production. infatuation did make it to every remnant, but it's clear from sdr2's writing that mikan's goes deeper than the rest of the remnants. while very clearly she did have her mind altered.

the wiki even accepts this as implication of her attraction to women. given that bisexual people already have to grasp at straws for representation, this response really comes off as bad faith, but i don't say she's bisexual without any evidence.

Sorry it took a while for me to reply. Honestly, you make a fair point. I just get really upset when people use material involving Junko as evidence for Mikan's sexuality, because in addition to it not really being accurate, due to the brainwashing effecting Mikan's mind, and thus making her infatuation warped and unnatural, and not feelings her true self would have, it's a DISGUSTING and TOXIC relationship that does not at all do LGBT+ representation justice. Although, I do understand that some consider negative representation to be better than no representation at all, which I believe is what you mean when you say bisexual people already have to grasp at straws for representation.

some Polynesians do, but Polynesia isn't a nation or an explicit group of people; it just refers to the various Indigenous peoples throughout the Pacific Ocean islands. Rapa Nui is one, but there's also Aotearoa, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Hawaii, etc., and religion among them can be as diverse as the islands themselves. Atua was also a bastardization done by the English localisation team to make it 'more accurate' when in reality they not only made it less accurate, but additionally more offensive as non-Polynesian (often white) fans often wind up making jokes about Atua.

0:14 also the imposter was actually in a class trial during the end of DR2's 6th trial, so out of all the danganronpa characters, its only mukuro who hasn't been to a class trial, sayaka has been to a class trial but only in the beta versions where leon killed mukuro/junko, so technically, mukuro has never been to a class trial
while the stuff about the imposter is true, the stuff about leon killing mukuro/junko is complete nonsense. about the closest i could find is in DISTRUST, leon (at the time named Kazuo Matsuzaki) was planned to murder kyouko (at the time named Gyaru Kirigiri), as the execution for kazuo still exists, and there's no evidence that a full class trial was ever formed at that stage.
the beta that you're talking about may be being confused with the demo - but while sayaka did attend that, mukuro also did, because the "victim" stand in was yasuhiro hagakure. but ultimately, none of this is canon anyway.

to clarify on kirby's comment; the same creator made a video in which they assigned nationalities to everybody and made a very erroneous assumption that anyone with pale skin was white and belonged in either europe or north america, even though the entire game makes it very clear all but 2 characters are from Japan.
acting like Japanese characters are in fact from various European countries is whitewashing (additionally, any character besides Angie who was dark-skinned was assigned Brazil, and Angie herself was assigned America even though the evidence does not point there at all)
