    What truly makes this movie so different and stand out from all the others, besides Ridley's epic vision, is it's soundtrack. Tangerine Dream really captured lightning in a bottle with their otherworldly opus. Because of this, this film hold a special place in my soul, right next to "Lost Boys" and "The Goonies" and "Ghostbusters".

      Same here! Growing up with the US version / Tangerine Dream Score. I was in utter SHOCK back when the dvd came out with the US Theatrical Cut / Director's Cut. With the original Jerry Goldsmith score! While watching the Director's Cut it felt like watching a true PG version of Legend. Than immediately jumping back to the US version I was so familiar with that felt like an R - rated version, which was slightly scary as a young child back in the day. It's truly AMAZING on how a different score can change the vibe of a movie!
      Would love to see a modern remake of this movie. Only it would truly have to be handled with some serious care! Don't really see another live action / practical effects version surpassing it but thought perhaps a fully animated version (in vein of Castlevania Netflix) or a fully cgi version similar to Avatar (could perhaps accompany it).
      Fun Fact - Legend inspired the creation of "The Legend of Zelda" by Nintendo

    I own the original 1985 vhs copy of this movie (US edition) and I've watched it every year in the spring since I was a child then put it away until another spring season comes around as a way to represent my love for the spring and summer seasons of life and dispositions for the cold and dark fall and winter seasons of death. And even to this very day (even though I'll not watch it again until next spring) this movie still plays as clearly as it did the day my parents included it in my families video library. The protagonist Lily of "Legend", the Rachel of "Blade Runner" and, finally, Claire Gregory in "Who protects the witness" have been placed in an unusual environment.
    Lily is a fairy-tale character, and she is a princess, she also hangs out with commoners and children of the forest.
    Rachel is an indefinable being, somewhere between human and replicant, used to living in Tyrell's pyramid-house which overlooks the immense metropolis of Los Angeles both visually and socially. In fact, he has always lived in an exclusive (and excluding) environment.
    Claire is an upper-class girl who lives in a glamorous and abstract jewel-house: that is, in the world known to ordinary people only through fashion magazines.
    However, in these female figures, there is a moment in which their figure is as if violent, scarred, and, in the less dramatic and violent cases, simply changed. Lily's black make-up in the dance scene in the castle of Tenebra, the hypnotic moment of a partially accomplished seduction; Rachel's change, when at Deckard's house, without make-up, she lets her hair down, as if to abandon her condition as a replicant, or as a woman belonging to a different social class, in the sweetness of the relationship with the man; infinite when, in "Who protects the witness", Joey Venza threatens Claire and passes his hand over her face, smearing it with lipstick.

    this is a dope movie, I watched it all the time as a kid. Glad I found it again. Funny story actually, I was watching an h3h3 video from 2016 where they were playing with project Murphy on skype and it put Ethan's face on the devil guy from this and I was just like oh my god and immediately tried to find this movie (which was surprisingly really easy), so thank you Ethan and Hila

    Legend was one of my favourite movies growing up but I only had the UK release version when I was young, that movie had less scenes and less music in it, there was no Lillys song in my version lol. I'm glad I've got 3 versions of Legend movie now to compare them lol.

    Huh. It's the unicorns from Blade Runner.

    • @henshinplex
      @henshinplex 6 лет назад +10

      the unicorns from blade runner retired after their roles in legend stating "It just seemed like time". Rainbow sunspot (from the director's cut of blade runner) retired to Louisiana where he opened a bait and tackle shop. While Skycloud McButterbean was found dead from a magic dust overdose in the viper room in 2004. He was found in a puddle of his excrement which incidentally was strawberry ice cream. RIP Skycloud McButterbean 1704-2004

      Same practical effects, setting, color, and even the same director, but not the same unicorns. The unicorn in blade runner was portrayed by an Arabian horse and the unicorns in Legend are portrayed by Andalusian horses.

      @@henshinplex How could Skycloud McButterbean have died in 2004? Blade Runner was set in 2019, so obviously he is still alive.
