Roanoke City Council Announces New City Manager

Roanoke City Council officially appointed Ms. Valmarie H. Turner as the new City Manager on Monday, December 2, 2024. She brings over 30 years of local government experience and leadership to this role. Turner has a background in community and economic development, social and human services programs, and public improvement projects. Most recently, she served as the Deputy City Manager for the City of Fairfax, Virginia, where she also held the role of Acting City Manager. Before that, she was an Assistant County Administrator in Loudon County. She will officially join the City of Roanoke in mid-January.
