We're in trouble guys. In the last 3 weeks the O's are only scoring 3.8 runs/game and the team ERA is the WORST in baseball at 5.78. Might be time to hit that panic button. It's not looking good.
Not time for panic, imho, but concern. The offense part is no biggie, I think...just ups and down of a long season. Pitching definitely needs help tho.
@@drewc771 I'm not that worried about the offense, mostly disappointed. There's so much talent in that lineup there's no reason they should be slumping for this long. The pitching has gone from surprisingly great to truly awful in the last few weeks though. I'm not so sure it's worth giving up the farm to try and win this year.
@@brandondillman5841 "I'm not so sure it's worth giving up the farm to try and win this year." Having the same thought. Depends what we have to give up.
@@drewc771 just looking out at what's potentially available at the deadline and I don't see any starter really worth giving up a ton for. Crochet has to be shut down soon with his innings limit. Skubal apparently isn't available, and he has his own red flags. Who else could they trade for who make an impact this year who's worth giving up Basall or Mayo or Kjerstad for? I don't see anybody.
This homerun or bust approach is going to get them knocked right out of the playoffs like last year. My question is what the hell are our hitting coaches doing? Do they not see it??
I’ll start off by saying that I am a football fan at heart who has learned to love baseball in the last couple of years and now watches the O’s like a hawk. I say this because if football has taught me one thing, it is that stats DO NOT tell the whole story. I think this is especially true when it comes to avg w/ risp (imo a good ball player treats a hit as a hit regardless of the situation). I think Mounty’s performance last night is a perfect example of this. He went 3-4 with three singles. The one at bat he doesn’t get a hit (flew out to PCA) happens to be the one with risp. Sometimes the game just simply doesn’t go your way. I’ll also remind everyone that we are still middle of the pack in risp avg and OBP while leading the league in HRs and slugging. That’s a recipe for success in the long run.
They need to start slaping the ball around and worry about singles, average, and getting people in from scoring position. Pitching will resolve itself. They need to be more consistent.
AKA getting on base. They don't walk, they don't bunt, can't get runners over, and it all jas to do with the approach. It feels they're all trying to hit a homerun no matter the situation and it's annoying, like why is that the approach?
There's a saying, "What Goes Around Comes Around" I kept hearing alot of backlash and laughing at the New York Yankee's on their badluck losing streak. Huh! Here we Go O's fans if we can't figure out what's wrong on why we are losing games we should be winning
The only guys they need to get rid of offensively is urias, mateo, and mullins but you cant really do anything with mullins because we dont have any other centerfielders. Its not about getting rid of guys, (even though they definitely should've called up mayo and norby at this point to replace mateo and urias) its about the APPROACH and the approach makes zero sense. These guys have the ability to get a hit thats not blasted 110 mph out of the ball park, so why are we not doing that? We have so much talent its not like all these guys can do is hit homeruns, they showed it last year. No one walks, no one bunts, we dont play small ball, it has to do with the coaching because the approach clearly changed from last year.
Thats how baseball works. As of now, the O's are still in 1st, 2 games up on the Yanks, 6.5 on the Red sox. The slump is real, we need consistent pitching and the bats need to start. Go Os!
IMHO, it seems most players are now trying to hit for power. Situational hitting, which has been a hallmark of the Os, seems to be gone. Frankly, I’m not thrilled with Gunner being in the home run derby. It will only hurt his swing for the second half.
When Gunnar comes up over and over with nobody on that's a problem! I been saying this from The Start Of May the orioles cure is... 1) Westburg 2) Gunnar 3) Adley after that you can start to mix and match the lineup based on the starting pitcher that night. The Orioles also have to get 1 more all-star right handed at bat because come playoff times that hard throwing lefty throwing 95+ with a sharp slider is coming in and we are 1 and done again. You don't have a true lineup until you can make outs between hits and avg 5+ runs per game. Mullins and Mateo should always hit 9th to role the lineup over and have hit and run options for Westy, Gunnar , and Adley,
So this should be easier than it is appearing… whoever has the highest on base percentage bats 1st and 2nd, then the top 3 slugging percentage guys go 3rd, 4th, and 5th… So if you guys have this podcast, analyze that and talk about it.
@@drewc771 their situational hitting is atrocious. Since Seattle series they’re 12-68 with RISP. You mean to tell me none of that falls on hitting mechanics or coaches? Go ahead keep swinging away for the fences and see where that goes come October. That’s what happened last year.
@@shore-cityfilms It's a long season. Ups and downs happen. Especially for a young team. Again, we are literally talking about the highest scoring team in the league, and you're talking about firing the hitting coaches. That's simply nonsensical.
@@drewc771 I’m not actually saying they should be fired but wondering what exactly it is they do. It hasn’t seemed like many hitting adjustments have been made at all.
@@drewc771 There should be no reason they can't get it. At the very list an upgrade to middle relief and a number 3 starter. Those things shouldn't cost a ton. I would prefer they spend some prospect capital and get a starter with another year of control and a high leverage reliever, but they have to get something and I am confident they will.
Hyde’s small ball game is horrible. Need’s to set a lineup and stick with it he always out coaches himself. McCann shouldn’t be catching as much as he is, adley should be our everyday catcher maybe once a week McCann can catch that’s it
When you love an Eddie Murray batting with runners in scoring position right now
Feel like I'm watching the 2015 Orioles again. 'Homer or bust' beer league softball approach.

It’s frightening. We either slam or we look lost. And that doesn’t bide well for a team I thought could win a WS
Lol, this team isn't sniffing a world series. They have two good pitchers on their entire roster

We should be 6 or 7 games ahead of the yankees with their losin skid. But just 2 games up on them?
Getting pitched too
why do we struggle against the NL central
The Orioles cant score runs unless its via the home run. If they make the playoffs it will be another quick exit.
Firing the hitting coaches. Despite the homers the approach has been flawed all year. Don’t need two guys doing one job. Shoutout to the office
I’ve been harping on this. What the hell do those guys do exactly? Because they don’t seem to be helping with this glaring swing away approach
Highest scoring team in the league and you're calling for the hitting coaches to be fired.
