EXACTLY. I hope to find a 2014 (they are already going for discounts), justify as low-mileage company car for a couple years, then keep as collectible. The question is, can I REALLY stomach the jump from Audis for 16 years (I've owned 2) to a rental-looking Chevy???
Thanks, Steve. Sounds like this is a bit less jarring than a performance-equipped Charger, and I actually like that the thing is a sleeper. Such a great stealth mobile that I'm not even ea Will have to see how everyone feels about the manual when it arrives next year.
I actually like the styling, but then I also like the new Malibu before and after the refresh so I guess that stands to reason. I know the closest competition is the 300 and the Charger, but I've seen reviews comparing various trims of the Commodore favorably to similarly equipped german executive sedans in Australia. Putting aside looks and I assume very limited availability, how do you think this car compares to the most similarly equipped E550 and 550i?
SAw a white SS the other day after I test drove a Malibu LTZ 2.0L. The turbo 'bu was actually really nice. Anyways, the white SS had the sunroof. Overall why would you get a SHO when you can get this, unless you need AWD.
Great review, Steve! Question: I know the SS handles better than the 300 SRT8, while the SRT is a little faster...but which is the more quiet highway tourer at times when you want to just cruse and listen to great music? Thanks!
+TestDriveNow.com featuring Auto Critic Steve Hammes Tire noise?? I don't notice that in mine. Aside from the exhaust noise (not so much on hwy rides), the cabin in the SS is quiet.
It's bad ass I have one just like this an it's a beast love it I keep mine in its own house it's never seen the rain it has only 1300 miles on it .its been lowered has custom crime rims. It's bad ass
+pedrof830 On the contrary, the G8 was distend to be a great selling car before Pontiac shut down. This car does not have the looks but is better than the G8 ever was. Too bad Holden is not going to be building these car much longer. I just bought one last month, it's a great car and fun to drive.
pedrof830 Some of us want a 4 door car that is better for the family, the manual makes it even that much better. That's what attracted me to this car. Nothing against the Camaro, just doesn't fit my family.
pedrof830 Are you kidding? That new Camero uses a totally different chassis. It uses the Cadillac ATS platform, and voila... Currently, the best pony car on the market. The SS uses the old Holden Commodore chassis like the last gen Camero. Nothing wrong with it, it's a niche car.
Hmm. I've always really liked the Chrysler twins in their SRT form but the SS feels like a better performer. Certainly prefer the look of the Chrysler models and they also feel more luxurious. Guess it depends on priorities.
I have only ever seen one of these and it looks soooooooo cheap! It will not contend with #mopar at all. Not to mention you can get nearly 400 horsepower out of a 5.7 hemi and nearly reach 29 mpg highway, no joke.
There built in Australia. There's a couple recalls one on the steering alignment and ac vent tube covered under warranty not a big deal. What do you drive?
That roar I love it. I think the new Chevy SS is beautiful so props to Chevy I do miss the G8 GXP though
Extremely great value. I wish I could afford one for Sunday drives and to keep as a collector's item. Great car and review Steve.

I own one,I'm not a car expert i test drove the site also.I liked the way the ss handled. The srt interior seemed cheap.
It’s not a Malibu at all. I own one. It’s a fabulous sport sedan. There’s nothing as powerful and well balanced as this car, for the price.
keep doing your thing steve, taurus sho reference was a nice touch.
Thanks!

Such an awesome car
Did they remove the spring locks before delivery?
Ha! I think they left the valve springs in their intended condition 😁

I want one of those :)
Looks better then the Chrysler and Dodge.
I have a 2010 ford taurus SHO and love it I wish it had some exhaust sound but its still fucking fast
Great review, Steve! Question: I know the SS handles better than the 300 SRT8, while the SRT is a little faster...but which is the more quiet highway tourer at times when you want to just cruse and listen to great music? Thanks!
Thanks. The 300 give you a quitter highway ride...not that the SS is particularly loud but I did notice quite a bit of tire noise with this car.
Thank you! I really appreciate that you take the time to respond to your followers! Always enjoy your reviews. Keep it up!

You can add an available manual transmission, too! A 6-speed manual.
Love that sleeper ,git it chevy get it
Not even eager to see if the come out with a "Z/28ish" version. Perfect as is. Sorry to see Holden go...
nice car but why it is not available in middle east
It sure starts life a heck of a lot closer to you 😉
Gm said they will Bring the ss production to the us
The G8 was not very successful, I don't think this one will be either, people are beginning to shop for the best mileage they can get.
Sales have been sluggish for the SS. GM doesn't expect to sell many SS's anyway.

+Ralph L Well, the new Camaro should finally put the nail on the coffin of this fine, unappreciated vehicle.

Sounds like Steve should drive a Prius
Sounds like you’re an a-hole
Steve -- better vehicle? This Chevy SS or Chrysler 300 SRT/ Dodge Charger SRT...?
Hmm. I've always really liked the Chrysler twins in their SRT form but the SS feels like a better performer. Certainly prefer the look of the Chrysler models and they also feel more luxurious. Guess it depends on priorities.
The price of this car with a Chev badge. I see why they won't be selling it here in Canada. For the same price I can drive a nice Audi.
in Australia you can get one 5 k cheaper than a wrx sti
Great review Steve, but I think I'll pass on this one.
Thanks. I agree, it's going to be for a very select group.
InevitableBlue flog
Yep, it is Malibuish and too much dang chrome! Sounds good though!
Beautiful car but I'd rather just find a G8 GXP those look better to me and basically are the same car.
Nice car but id never buy a gm or anerican car
+DoubleD 613 This is an Australian car, rebadged as a Chevy
I have only ever seen one of these and it looks soooooooo cheap! It will not contend with #mopar at all. Not to mention you can get nearly 400 horsepower out of a 5.7 hemi and nearly reach 29 mpg highway, no joke.
This car is much better than dodge build quality. Watch the comparison videos.
A video isn't as good as actually driving them yourself. you're just hating.
I own the SS they're quality made
Yep, you're a chevy fanboy, sure it wasn't recalled?
There built in Australia. There's a couple recalls one on the steering alignment and ac vent tube covered under warranty not a big deal. What do you drive?
Is it just me or does it look too much like a Malibu?
It's YOU!!
