"My son... I think he KNOWS that he's loved, but when I respect him, he UNDERSTANDS that he's loved." This is my favourite thing said in this video. This book also changed the way I parent my son and saved our relationship. As an educator, I've also used its principles with my male students and have enjoyed opportunities to pour into their lives that I might have missed if I didn't realize their need for respect. As my son says, "Every women should read this book!"

I love and respect you Stacey!!! For real. I am a mother of two young adult sons trying not to feel too guilty that I didn't know about these things earlier. But I will get the book and get to work on improving how I relate to the two guys I love the most in the world! Thank you! You're beautiful inside and out and I love how you present yourself on video. Loving, informed, clear, and passionate about the topic and your son.

    Stacey, very well done.
First the I admire your input part: As a parent of four ages 17 through 25 and helped with some nearer to 30. You give good advice. I applaud you for realizing there is no shame in being ignorant, everyone is ignorant there is only shame in staying that way and reveling in the poor me I have a bad life instead of at least making an effort to improve it. You have purposely strove to improve yourself and thus your child's life. I greatly admire anyone who makes the effort. Your changes will affect descendants for generations.
My wife and I have tried diligently tried to improve on our starting points. I read what I could find and went and talked to older men and women that had happy marriages and families asking them for any advice. Focus on the Family was instrumental in challenging and pushing us in our parenting. Glad your speaking about respect in young men. Again, Very Very well done. It is a real challenge for a a single parent of either sex because kids need the input of both a father and a mother to mature in their understanding of love and respect. Boys and girls need different inputs and responses at different ages.
I am so very glad to hear someone putting this out there. I think the majority of societies problems are due to young men not feeling respected, they are continually trying to prove their manhood by being violent /aggressive/tough dudes towards anyone weaker. Young men that have matured as a man are protectors not oppressors.
This is a fantastic video in so many ways. Actively teach your children first then have reasonable expectations progressing towards very high expectations.
You as a woman are able to communicate this information much better than I as a man can.
Thank you, Sharing the heck out of this video.

Respect is SO important for our sons & our husbands. Thank you for this review & empowering women to have better relationships with their sons. I taught Dr. Eggerich's Love & Respect for years in my women's group. Love his work!! As a marriage coach, respect is one of the foundational skills I teach and there are 5 others that I teach to fully empower women in marriage. I love that Dr. E teaches that men/boys need RESPECT, more than love (and that it's the opposite for women.) Building healthy relationships & men! Yeah!

I love all the information you provided❤ And OMG your son was so smart to catch on those specific situations and be able to actually verbally share his perspective side of the mother's day and bathroom situation. Lol
The sad thing is that for so long we have underestimated how smart our boys are and how they are truly capable of learning/understanding their role as future men/leaders and it is never too soon to help them understand that.
There are more teachings on girls knowing their worth and that they are loved and not enough on preparing boys become leaders... bc whether they are ready or not they will one day be leaders of a family one day.
Can you give an update on your relationship with your son?

Thanks for your review! I've had this book for several years and just picked it up on Monday to read. My son is 8 and just let me say the the mother's day gift he gave to you resonated with me. I'll definitely be reading this thoughtfully to take it all in.

You are such a wonderful speaker and do a great job of explaining your points of view. I could probably listen to you for hours! I'm a single mother of 2 boys - 12 & 13 and I am always trying to read up on being a better mom to them. You have made me so excited about this book and I can't wait to get the actual book and listen to it on audible. Thank you for taking to time to share your insight. 🙏🏻
