Can You get Compensation if You are Denied Boarding in Airlines Despite Confirmed Air Ticket?

Airlines is a world wide loss making business and thus they try to over book the flights based on the assumption that some of the passengers will miss the flight due to their late reporting or may undertake the cancellation at the last minute.
Now DGCA has come with the guidelines that if a flight is provided with in one hour of the flight where you have missed boarding, you may not get any compensation but any other flight with in 24 hours entails a max Rs 10,000 compensation and if flight is after 24 hours than this compensation can be max Rs 20,000. Even compensation exists if you do not want to take an alternate flight. So, know your rights and be on the right side of the law. However to avoid any such harassment make sure you reach domestic airport at least 2 hours in advance or 4 hours in advance for the international flight.

Hats off to Indigo to be able to make sure that they had only 2 denials which was the lowest and highest denials was through smaller airlines. Even Airindia had a high denial rate of boarding., So aim is to reach in time at airport and spend some extra time at airport and T3 is a good airport at Indira Gandhi international airport to spend time.

You are entitled for the compensation if flight is overbooked irrespective of the way it has been purchased. The aim of this policy is to compensate you for the hardship you are going to face because of overbooking.

Approach DGCA in India is the regulatory body in the field of Civil Aviation primarily dealing with safety issues.
Still not resolved and one can approach the consumer court.
