mate i admire your attitude. my garage is the same. many joiners i worked with take the piss out of me for taking home wood that is''fucked''. its all about appreciation and admiring beauty in whats under the paint etc. eg. i took from a job i was on a good 40-50 old 40mm thick old cherry wood floorboards. plenty of nails in it. the boards where around 10cm wide and where tonge and groove. had loads of character of won out paint, a great variation of 5 different finishes. i made planters from them after running it all on my table saw and mitre saw. im not 320 quid up. didnt make a trip to any wood store neither. only bought screws, which ive not even used half of them.
