Your intro is so cool! This is a very needed video with the new influx of gecko breeders, I’m sure it will help so many of them. So happy to see you back on RUclips friend! :) The dalmatians are doing great!
Brian, I honestly thought your large mixing box was the 'lay' box you were actually using. I was thinking 'How big are his enclosures!!!' :) Great video and pretty straightforward. Good luck with your breeding season this year.
Hope you're not getting annoyed with the notifications you're getting due to me commenting (I'm binging all of your videos right now haha). I really hope your daughter (? I think you mentioned...) goes into the reptile hobby as well when she gets old enough, she has such a fantastic starting point! Once we have moved, I'd really like to set up either a reptile room or at least a large corner of a room if space doesn't permit an entire room. My son loves looking into my gecko enclosure and whispering "Hi little buddy", he'd definitely love seeing more animals, and I'd enjoy having more, I love geckos. Snakes are in the plan as well, possibly some amphibians. I also want to invest in a dremel so I can start doing more with acrylic/plexiglass and I intend to make a mini terrarium for my 3yr old that he can have a bug of his choosing in to take care of. I really hope the crested gecko I'll be getting soon will keep his/her tail, not that it matters greatly, I don't mind a frog butt, but we live near an air force base and often have low flying aircrafts over our house, of course the occasional crazy thunderstorm and then every so and so often a screaming banshee a room over because he can't get his blocks to stack the way he wants them to, so I feel like the tail situation won't last long probably. My reptiles are closed off in my room but still... the damn planes are the worst, and the lawn care outside, sometimes it's like they want to come in through the ac and they send them every other day.... what are you mowing people?! There is nothing left. 🤔🥴
Great video with a twist of adding play sand to coco fiber. I will be adding this mixture this week as I set up my breeders lay boxes. Brian. I have been using Ziploc (Blue) Large Rectangle 9 cup Containers with 2.5 inch round hole cut into one end of the container. I place one large lay box with a set up 1:2 geckos. Would you suggest using two smaller 5 cup round lay boxes (one for each gecko) instead? I use a similar 5 cup round in my rotational breeders also. Any hints will be appreciated. Stay safe my friend. Ken
@@AltitudeExotics Hey! I have another question, can we breed 1 femal with two males and get offsprings of both males morphs? So...kind of a mix of the 3?
Can you make a breeding guide? I’ve seen tons of them but it doesn’t really tell me how long to keep the male with the female and how often the female will lay a clutch. Like do they mate them lay in clutch or do they lay like 5 clutches? Sorry if I’m asking a lot I’m new to crested geckos and I’m really interested in breeding them however I wanna make sure I know everything before🤗
You could put the male in for as long as you want, but I keep the male and female together for a month. Females lay pattern is different. It’s 25-30 days typically. Female cresties can retain sperm as well. They could lay fertile eggs even though you didn’t pair them for awhile
Real valuable informations, as always :) One question, is there a way to calm down a male crestie in mating mood? As soon as my crestie became adult, he's been in the mood for like forever and won't eagerly eat anything. I've given him all kinds of Pangeas and let him mate with female crestie a couple times(usually only let him meet her during the mating and seperated them after), but it didn't seem to make difference. Nowadays he only tries to eat crickets and even that I have to wait patiently until he opens his mouth.
I have a male and 2 females that just went into a 40 gallon front open bioactive terrarium. Would you still recommend a lay box? They like to hide inside our tree trunk decoration most of the time. The substrate is only an inch or 2 deep as I have a layer of bio-balls under the substrate to help keep the humidity up.
I've watched a whole bunch of videos and asked this question several times with no response 🤔☹️ Should I worry about how often my lone female lays eggs. She does so regularly all summer.
Should you have multiple lay boxes for when housing 2 females together? For breeding should you place your breeding females and pair them with the male in a separate enclosure to monitor them?
We use just one lay box per cage, though more than one is certainly not a bad idea especially in larger cages. We keep our females in the same cage year round and move the males in and out for breeding, usually keeping them in a week at a time. Monitoring them is necessary to make sure no extreme bullying happens however just to be safe.
In your experience of breeding, I would love to see a video of how to read/predict how geckos turn out to be as far as morphs/traits ! I love looking at progression pictures. Maybe a better look into it with your collection?
question, I put my geckos together in the terrarium and found them mating. I wasn't expecting it, but now when I put them together, they don't. Do you know if they only mate once and then don't anymore after that. It was about a week ago that they were found locked together and then I saw the male's hemipene was out (sorry, that is graphic) and now they are just chilling? Could it be that my female ovulated and that was why? .. I haven't seen him pursue her again. Was just that one time enough to make fertile eggs?

Keeb ubloading stuff.Very interesting channel and its exactly what I need for my crested gecko
Thank you!
Thanks! I’m a new crested gecko owner and am learning so much from your videos!

Haha. Lay box, Ultra Edition!
Thank you so much! Good luck to you as well!
@@AltitudeExotics :) Sounds like a marketing plan Brian. The Godzilla Box From Altitude Exotics :) And thank you my friend.
how often do you add water or moisten your lay boxes?
Nice to see you again on RUclips keep them coming I like watching them no matter what you make hope everybody safe
Thanks Brian. Keep them uploads coming. And save me a super Dalmatian female 👌🦎
Brian, how do I keep the laybin from drying out?
I've been spritzing it with water, but I thought I saw another video advising against.
I spray them with water each time I feed the geckos.

video on how to safely look for eggs and what to do with them when you've found them please? loving the videos tho
That video is coming next!
I love crested gecko vids
Great video! Can you make a feeding video. All your geckos look healthy. What is your feeding schedule? Bugs and meal replacement.
This is on my list of videos to make! We do have a feeding article published on our website, though I will be looking to make a video as well soon.
I’d love to learn more about „confetti lines“ in 🦎 morphs 🤩
And thanks for the new video! Always very interesting and I can learn a lot from you 🤗

It sounds like you have a perfect setup and the one large box should be just fine for 2 girls to share :)
How often do you change your substrate in the lay boxes? Love your videos I watch all of them! Your definitely one of my favorites!
Thank you! We spot clean them with every feeding and then do a full swap on substrate usually half way through the season unless its needed sooner.
Great! Thank you!
What diet should i give to my gecko for it to grow properly?
Hi! Thanks for all those tips, could you do an entire care guide about incubating the eggs?
I am waiting on a few supplies to come in now but yes this video along with an incubator product review will be coming soon!

Forgot to mention to smooth the hole you just cut out. So they don't cut themselves

Hey umm I have some crested geckos and one of them laid eggs and I don’t have an incubator do u have any tips
With the lay boxes how long will they stay moist for and when they become dry do you replace them ASAP or mist them? Thank you!
I have the same question.
Do you spray it or put water to keep moist?
May you do a review on a food by exo terra, it comes in a 4 pack of food cups

I’d like to know your opinion on keeping this humid without over-doing it? Do you take it out and spray it several times a week ?
Yep, whenever I feed them I spray the container and check for eggs if there is a breeding female in the cage
How are the lilly white axanthics going?
Check back Saturday morning for the answer ;)

You can’t predict it.
I'm assuming this works for females that lay infertile eggs as well?
Yes!
So I'm going to start breeding crested geckos is it okay to start with only two
That's the best way to start!
How to breed spotted python
Are you still breeding more authentic crested geckos ??
Yes indeed!
Love the videos keep it up how about a morph video
We have one morph video but I would like to make an updated version sometime!
