DIY CNC Drawing Machine with Arduino and 28byj-48 stepper | Step-by-Step Tutorial

  • In this video (part 1), I showed how I made a 2-dimensional CNC pen plotter. I used an Arduino Uno as the main controller, a 28byj-48 unipolar stepper motor for rails, and an SG90 servo motor for lifting the pen. I will soon upload part 2 of this video, showing detailed steps to set up the pen plotter and code.

    4. GRBL library for 28byj-48 motor:

    (Note this library is different from the original GRBL library which supports bipolar motors only. Delete all other libraries having GRBL in their name in the Arduino IDE library folder, so that this library works. I have modified this library to remove errors. You can find all settings for limit switches in config.h file in the GRBL library.)
    I have used Universal G-code Sender (UGS Platform) software to stream Gcode files to the plotter.
    For making drawing files I have used Inkscape. To generate gcode from these files I have used the Gcodeplot Inkscape extension.
