RSR family you'll like their "I Wanna Be Sedated" and "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker". The beginnings of punk rock. lead singer Joey Ramone (1951-2001), bassist Dee Dee Ramone (1951-2002), guitarist Johnny Ramone (1948-2004) and drummer Tommy Ramone (1949-2014). The movie National Lampoon's Vacation contained Blitzkrieg Bop
Joey does a fantastic cover of Louis Armstrongs What a Wonderful World
I'm a fan of "The KKK Took My Baby Away "
Yes! “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker” and “Judy Is A Punk”
Johnny ❤
My 84 year old Mother loves Beat on the Brat!
The Ramones were one of the pioneers of punk in the 70's. Hearing this as a teenager blew my mind! Amber may recognize the "hey ho let's go" because it's played at lots of sporting events to rev up the crowd. Iggy Pop was another punk rocker with his band The Stooges.
Iggy was not just another punk rocker, he's more like the godfather of punk rock and his band The Stooges were punk rock even before people knew what it was called, today one would say that the music they made was proto-punk, starting in the late 60s and initiating the whole movement. Ramones were probably the first "real" punk rock band heavily influenced not only by the likes of The Stooges or New York Dolls but also the surf sound of the 60s.
@@Reani71 Agreed 💯…Early Punk is the best!
It is in Shrek and tons of movies
@@dawnpatrol700 no its not. The song you're thinking of in Shrek is "Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
They're from my hometown LOL
This live version is played 2-3 times faster than the original. The Ramones were a super fun band, unfortunately most of them died way too soon.
I think this song was also in the original National Lampoon's Vacation movie. Audrey put this song on her headphones in the car to drown out her parents.
Yes, these gentlemen were part of the founding fathers of American punk rock.
yeah, not a hard/fast rule, but *generally* speaking, it's best to not have a live version be your first exposure to a song.
That was a blast, though. So fast. Good luck with catching any lyrics other than "ay o let's go" and "Blitzkrieg Bop". It was clearly a live performance in Berlin. Jay and Amber just needed to pogo, failing that headbang,to it.
I've been trying to get you two to review the Ramones for a while now! The Ramones were considered the true first punk band consisting of Joey Ramone(Jeff Hyman), Johnny Ramone(John Cummings), Dee Dee Ramone(Douglas Colvin), and Tommy Ramone(Thomas Erdelyi). There were more members as the lineup changed over the years like Marky Ramone(Mark Bell), CJ Ramone(Christopher Ward), Elvis Ramone(Clement Burke) and Richie Ramone(Richard Reinhardt).
They were known for playing very fast and very short songs and wearing leather jackets and Keds sneakers because they were huge fans of 50s music and styles and HATED the music that was popular during the 70s at the time, i.e. disco. They had some great iconic songs like "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker", "I Wanna Be Sedated", "I Just Want To Have Something to Do", "Rockaway Beach", "Pinhead", "She's The One", "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", "I Want You Around", "Rock N' Roll High School", "Judy Is A Punk", "Pet Semetary", "Beat On The Brat", "Teenage Lobotomy", "R.A.M.O.N.E.S.", "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", "Do You Remember Rock N' Roll Radio?", "I Can't Make It On Time", and "The KKK Took My Baby Away".
I think it was Deedee, who was asked why their songs were so short? DeeDee, answered by saying: They're not short songs, but long songs played very fast.😂
The studio version of this song IS on the Shrek soundtrack. You can actually understand the lyrics .. lol
"I Wanna Be Sedated" is my all time favorite Ramones tune.
I sang that to my doctor when I was going in for surgery, they all got a kick out of it lol.
20 20 20 24 hours a day...
This is the true genesis of punk. They shaped an entire genre of music. Genuine legends.
After the Ramones played London , British punk was born, if you listen to this song and the Clash you can here the influence
Changed the world
no that was the sex pistols 👍
The genesis was Stooges seven years earlier.
Iggy Pop punk pioneer.
This is the ground floor of "punk rock". Saw em' so many times back in the day in NYC and around Ct.. Absolute non-stop energy from start to finish. All short tunes, almost no break between songs. It was sledgehammer central.
Do “I wanna be sedated.” Next by the Ramones! You will not be disappointed. But do a recorded version. Their live versions are ALWAYS fast.
The recorded versions illustrate the true sound. Live versions should only be reactions once you know what the studio version sounds like. In terms of live shows, Ramones were almost a totally different band live than they were on recordings. Even though they played exactly like the records, the speed kind of masks the true pop geniuses that they were. Listening to the vocals, there's no way you can identify the studio sound from Joey unless you know the songs inside out.
I was a huge Ramones fan and had listened to a lot of Ramones live bootlegs. The one thing that I found interesting was that each tour they seemed to get a little bit faster than the last tour
One of the greatest punk rock bands from the 70’s. The last remaining member of the Ramone’s died in 2014. Just a bunch of kids from Queens, NY having the time of their lives. LONG LIVE THE RAMONES !
Marky Ramone is still with us 🤘🏻
@@dannywening6233 but he's not an original member
@@OCWord you didn't mention original members in your original post. Besides Tommy Ramone may have been an original band member but his stint was short lived un like Marky who drummed for the majority of the bands existence
BEST description of them, EVER!
You gotta hear the studio recordings of these songs. for this one the live version is in double time. you'll enjoy the studio recording more. BTW it's about teens fooling around in the back seat of a car. IGGY POP is a musician. THE RAMONES ARE THE ORIGINATORS OF PUNK ROCK everyone else embraced the idea and didn't do it the same way.
Pretty sure most Ramones songs are faster live. :)
And yes, this is Punk Rock in it's purest form. The Ramones saved rock and roll by refusing to pad their songs.
EDIT TO ADD: This song wasn't on a Shrek soundtrack, but "Do You Remember Rock-n-roll Radio?" was in the Shrek the Third.
I have their entire catalog! Welcome to Punk Rock!
The studio version is still pretty damn fast. Like around two minutes and change?
The studio version of any song is the best version
@@paulb4604
The studio is fast, but it's still understandable. This version is played much faster than that, and some words aren't even said correctly, so it makes it incredibly hard for a first timer to pick anything out.
Now imagine an entire set of "2 3 Go!" song after song after song. Saw them live and it was nonstop fun
The Ramones... Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, and arguably one the most influential bands in Rock and Roll. I was lucky enough to see many live acts and in my opinion, no-one did it better than the Ramones. I saw them live many, many times
The Ramones are the original punk rock band with the English punk bands learning their moves from them. They started in New York City in the mid-Seventies. They are unfortunately essentially all dead and gone now. Simply the best. Sheena is a Punk Rocker, Teenage Lobotomy, Rockaway Beach, Bpnzo Goes to Bitburg, End of the Century, and so many more. Great covers of Needles and Pins and Be My Baby. Their influence can't be overstated.
I thought the sex pistols was unaware of the Ramones? Pretty sure the pistols discovered their sound on their own.
@@TheRetroManRandySavage Malcom McLaren went to New York and cribbed everything from the CBGB scene. The Sex Pistols were Malcom's puppets.
I love this song so much I actually included it in one of the books I sent you a few months ago (Ethan's Secret). The Ramones were the pioneers of punk, total legends that influenced everyone that came after them. Though they all adopted the name "Ramone" as a surname, they were not related. Their primary lineup consisted of Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Tommy. Among their other greats are "Rockaway Beach", "Rock 'n Roll High School", "I Wanna Be Sedated", and "I Don't Want To Grow Up". Thank you for reacting to this!!
When I was in NY last summer, we went to Rockaway Beach and that song was stuck in my head the whole time! Also I live near LA and have gone to Hollywood Forever cemetery to see Johnny Ramone's grave site and statue.
Great suggestions. Sheena is a Punk Rocker is another great song by the Ramones.
@@blueeyedraven396 I have loved ones buried at Hollywood Forever…and every time I go for a visit I like to take a stroll towards Jonnny’s and Dee Dee’s graves to pay respects. Chris Cornell’s too…
Roflmao ... my cellphone ringtone has been "I Wanna Be Sedated" for the last year :P LOVE that tune!!
I saw Ramones live 10 times, and each time I came out soaked in sweat.
Live they were like a portable hurricane. They were the godfathers of punk in the mid-1970s.
my brother first introduced me to the Ramones around april of 78 and my musical tastes changed from when i first heard them on their first album. i didnt at first know what to make of them except that this music was something new and different. i had to know more about them. and like you, i went to about as many concerts and the shows were always the best! and for less than $25 a ticket you got your moneys worth. GABBA GABBA HEY!
Right on. Not to mention you ears would be ringing for 3 days straight. They'll never be another band like them.
Loved your reaction! The Ramones, from New York City, created what is now called punk rock. This song was song 1 on side 1 of the first Ramones album, released in April, 1976, and therefore is ground zero for punk rock. It has been used in a lot of movies.... most recently at the end of Spiderman Homecoming (at the end when Aunt May walks in as Peter is trying on his new Spiderman suite), but also National Lampoon Vacation and Jimmy Neutron.... but it is most famous from being used in Tony Hawk and from having the Hey Ho Let's Go part played at sports events. You may have recognized it more readily if you'd played the recorded version, but the live versions are great, too. The Ramones are often criticized for being one dimensional, but in fact there is a lot of variety in what they do. The songs are usually hard, fast and raw with funny lyrics. For another song like this, try "Chainsaw" from their first album. Their next most famous song is "I Wanna Be Sedated", which has a funny video. For other catchy Ramones songs try "Rockaway Beach" (which was used in a Scooby Doo cartoon), or "Beat on the Brat" which was used in the movie "Billy Madison", or "Sheena is a Punk Rocker'" which is in the Steven King movie Pet Sematary, or the song "Pet Sematary" from the same movie, or "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" (which was used in the movie School of Rock). The Ramones never sold a lot of records because radio wouldn't play punk rock, but their music slowly has become more mainstream over time because the songs are so good that they get used in movies and game soundtracks, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility because of their influence on music.
This sounds faster than usual to me, my husband says they do play faster live. "Rock n Roll High School" and "I want to be Sedated" are 2 of their well known songs.
It's been my experience that a lot of band's play faster live, not just punk bands.
YES!!!!!!!!!
@@cesarnarro6013 Often, it's the adrenaline kicking in.
Yes, just measured it… the studio version is 175bpm. This is careering along at 250bpm!!!!
This is a super fast live version. This is 70's/80's punk rock. The original version is more "likeable", but I love it no matter what.
The song is from 1975,,,
Awesome! Love the Ramones! He's singing so fast in this live version, he's just mumbling the words. The studio versions are much slower(but still fast) and you can hear what he's saying.
Ramones always played fast live. Faster than the recordings. These guys are legends!
Not in 77 they didn't.. It's Alive is at studio speed but yeah the songs become a joke at breakneck speed
👎👎
The Ramones were HUGE! This is punk rock. Their concerts were awesome & they sang pretty fast.
Well done Amber this was indeed on Shrek if slightly slower (studio version) and understandable lyrics. Well done Jay this is indeed Punk and Punk at it's best.
It was in the public fight of Shrek and Donkey vs the knight challengers
@@maryannhayase1798 That was The Runaways. A horrid band!
Us 70s BRATS were getting in to this in 1975 when it was BRAN NEW
Pure adrenaline. The Ramones' concerts were the best way to burn calories that has ever existed. As about the genre of music the played, it was pure and simple punk rock. Probably the purest punk rock there has ever been, along with the music of the Sex Pistols.
Probably my all-time favorite band. Definitely the original punk band. I'd suggest listening to album versions, as they played insanely fast live, though I got to see them in the early 90s and the ENERGY WAS INSANE!!! 🤟
"Beat On The Brat" "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" "Pet Semetary" "Pinhead" Check those Ramones songs out! Best punk band EVER!!!!

The Ramones were my introduction to punk back in the 80's. They have many great songs.
shit . dont tell the remones that . they think they were before sex pistols lol .

As a long-time Ramones fan, watching you experience them for the first time and then try to describe that experience was delightful. Very puzzling, weird, great, troubling, funny band.
A Ramones show was pure joy. No long solos. No long breaks. Mayhem for 90 minutes.

Hey ho, let's go! Hey ho, let's go!

They're generating steam heat
Pulsating to the back beat
The blitzkrieg bop
Hey ho, let's go
Shoot 'em in the back now
What they want, I don't know
They're all revved up and ready to go

The studio version is fast, but this is lightning. One of the best known punk songs ever.
At 2x speed, makes for a short reaction
My friends and i heard them for the 1st time in 1976 sitting on the floor in front of an old record player ! Things would never be the same for us again ! Then seen them live in 1978 and were blown away !
Back then they never would play them on the radio ! Nice reaction !
A hug from a subscriber from Brazil.. Rock in the early 70s was becoming almost classic, it was the history of progressive Rock and several bands "claimed" to be the best and played better and better, but young people began to dislike this precisely because Rock was different, it was freedom , it was to be against political correctness, it was to be rebellious, it was to fight against sameness, so in New York, in the neighborhood of Queens, the Forrest Hill group emerged, this group invented Punk Rock, Joey, Jhonny, Tommy and DeDee, the Ramones, songs Fast, simple lyrics and with three chords, Punk Rock showed young people that Rock can also be very simple and with the same attitude.
After this explosion of Punk Rock with the Ramones, the English entered the scene with The Clash and Sex Pistols among others.
Ramones forever...
The blitzkrieg, or "lightning war" was an effective tactic the German armed forces used in World War II. It enabled them to move in very quickly, and it's the reason they were able to conquer so much territory in the beginning of the war. The Rolling Stones also referenced the blitzkrieg in their song "Sympathy for the Devil".
If memory serves they weren't allowed to say the word blitzkrieg because it was used by the Nazi's.
Amber, Jordan, your reaction is exactly how all of us reacted when we first heard The Ramones. WTH was that? We didn’t really know what they were singing either ... but we liked it!!! Ramones are pure punk fire!🔥🤙
these are the gods of punk rock. this is punk
The Godfathers of Punk. One of my all time favorite bands.
Iggy Pop, The Ramones, Blondie, The Clash were some of the original bands in the Punk Rick scene from the 70s. And Iggy Pop is originally from Detroit, Michigan and his band was known as The Stooges.
Ramones were the pioneers of punk rock. 'Blitzkrieg bop' was about what they did in NYC in the 70's - jumping w/ friends into a car and driving to see a live show at the bars & go crazy ... 😂 Ramones lyrics are very short & pointed w/ dark humor. The band members could barely play their instruments, but that didn't stop them from forming a band in 1974. Their inspiration to play music came from the Midwest band The Stooges, whose singer was Iggy Pop. They liked 60's rock n' roll, short & simple...they couldn't relate to long, psychedelic songs in the 70's by bands like Yes, Genesis and Led Zeppelin... so they played in that style of music.
The called the band The Ramones cos the 4 original members all took the last name 'Ramone' and dressed the same as a show of unity on stage... Jeff Hyman became Joey Ramone (vocals), Douglas Colvin was Dee Dee Ramone (bass), Tom Ederlyi was Tommy Ramone (drums), and John Cummings was Johnny Ramone (guitar)... The Ramones failed to reach commercial success in the USA, but in the UK, their music started a huge punk rock movement in the 70's which made it into Europe (and later, South America) ... The live version of 'Blitzkrieg bop' here was a bit more frantic than the studio version. In America, the Ramones would tour small clubs and bars, and inspired a generation of kids to form punk rock bands all over the country. They couldn't get commercial success in North America, even tho they were like Beatles popular in Brazil!
Tommy Ramone left in '78 and was replaced by drummer Marky Ramone (Marc Bell) ... Dee Dee Ramone quit in 1989 and replaced by bassist C.J. Ramone (Christopher Joseph Ward)... The Ramones opted to end their career in 1996 after a final tour.
Sadly, all 4 original members (Joey, Dee Dee, Johnny & Tommy Ramone) have passed away (R.I.P. 😪)
I’ve always suspected the name deal but never knew the specifics. Thx dude.
I saw them live. I'm old.
@@umunhum U were lucky...🤘🤘
This is definitely early US punk. Ramones just bruised through 2:00 bangers non-stop. I got to see them a couple times in the mid 80's and they always rocked!
I saw them at CBGB's in the East Village back in their explosive early days of the early 1980's. In fact, they were such a local phenomenon that there was this one bar that a lot of performers would go to where they could just chill out and chat with the locals, and not worry about being mobbed by fans.. I was in the bar one night and Joey Ramone was there, quietly drinking just down the bar from me. Suddenly, Ric Ocasek of the Cars came in with his gorgeous model wife Paulina Porizkova--he had a birthday cake to celebrate Joey's B day. We all joined in singing for the birthday boy, with me banging my glass mug with a spoon and there was cheering, kissing and back slapping afterwards. Good cake, too.
"I don't just want to dance. I want to jump up..." AMBER GETS IT!!! That's all you need to know!
This is pure American punk rock! The Ramones wanted to play fun pop music, the kind they grew up listening to in the 1950s and 60s. It was a reaction to a lot of the psychedelic and prog rock that was popular in the early 1970s. Fortunately, they only had the vaguest notion of how to play their instruments, thus creating punk rock. They are known for short, energetic songs. Their first concert, at CBGBs no less, ended after 15 minutes because they had played all their songs. Except for the 1-2-3-4 count they didn't stop between songs.
They tried and tried for years to get a top 40 hit but it never happened. All the members of the bandn (Joey, Marky, Johnny, Dee Dee, Tommy) used Ramone as their stage name. Since you are doing Christmas songs Joey Ramone, the lead singer, does a great version of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).
You may have seen the sign "Gabba Gabba Hey" flash on the screen a couple of times. The Ramones were big fans of old cult movies, one of which was the 1932 Tod Browning classic "Freaks" which was about circus entertainers (go watch it, no description of mine can do it justice). The characters in the movie chant "Gooble, gobble, we accept her, we accept her, one of us, one of us!" which the band changed to ""Gabba gabba, we accept you, we accept you, one of us" in their song Pinhead. It was the Ramones' way of saying that everyone, weirdos and norms alike, were welcome in their world. The children's TV show "Yo Gabba Gabba!" gets its name from the Ramones.
Iggy Pop, with his band The Stooges, are generally credited with being one of the forefathers of punk along with fellow Detroit band the MC5.
Pogo dancing!
‘The KKK took my baby away’ is one of my favourite Ramones songs, you guys should check it out!
My fave by them
Yes! It’s so good!
Yes!
Joey's personal f/u to Johnny for taking his girlfriend
The Ramones are legendary. Every member of the band assumed the last name of Ramone, although they weren't all related. They are truly a major part of the bedrock that Punk Rock was built on. Iggy Pop was the vocalist for Iggy Pop and The Stooges who came out a bit before the Ramones. The Ramones are such a great band.
I was lucky to see them live a couple times. They play everything live twice as fast. Legends. You should watch the original video though to get the song.
Seen them live 5 times. So many great tracks.
seen them twice. Love them. the good old days
Same man, from 88 to 92. Found out real quick what a mosh pit was. Fun times.
If you've seen them live 5 times, that probably adds up to about 90 minutes. 😉

Punk came about in the mid 70s, and a major venue, where this band played, was CBGB in NYC. The Ramones are punk royalty.
Best description I've heard of The Ramones: Simple bubblegum pop played at the volume and intensity of a jet engine.
Saw these guys on the grounds of LaSalle University back around '88 or '89. They put up a great show. Props to Howard Stern with his many interviews with the band to try to get these guys some hype. I'm not a punk fan per se, but these guys pushed things to a second level. They were super-fun.
The Ramones are Punk Rock and one of the earliest. The original of this was in 1976, No idea when this performance was. Some other songs, Teenage Lobotomy, I Want To Be Sedated, Rockaway Beach.
Iggy Pop was/is a different performer. Probably the song you'd most recognize is Real Wild Child but more representative might be I Want To Be Your Dog.
This was from the 90's because CJ was on bass
Punk was an answer to the disco wave of the 70's and The Ramones were the GOATs
Their was WAY MORE than Just disco in the 70s though , Its like saying all that was in the 80s was big hair bands lol
You have just started your journey down the punk rock rabbit hole.
I salute you my friends.
This song/album was released the year I was born, 1975.

You might not know from this live version, but if you listen to the studio version, you'll recognize it from some commercial (I don't remember for what, but you know it!) Also check out Sheena Is a Punk Rocker, I Wanna Be Sedated, Rock n Roll High School
The Ramones....a huge influence on me becoming a musician...I said..if they can...I can...their songs are two minutes of adrenaline, some rage, some humor...The Godfathers to every punk rocker that breathed
I’m cracking up to your reaction...when the Ramones played live they’d crank up the tunes to double speed. 1,2,3,4! They could do a 20 song set in under a half hour...the mosh pit was it though...man those were good times!!
Suggested son to review…. ‘Another Girl, Another Planet’ by the Only Ones…. A post punk classic from one of London’s finest. From 1978!
The Ramones played so fast they'd finish their set 30 minutes.
The Ramones had more than one drummer, so I don't know who to attribute this to, but I remember hearing that the drummer took pride in shaving seconds off the length of their sets.
And you two have entered the world of Punk. Welcome to the world of fast and unrefined chaos. And Ramones are one of the founding fathers of Punk, they helped develop the style and sound of the genre which hasn't strayed super far off.
I saw The Ramones in Chicago in the '80's! They are one of the top 3 punk rock bands of all time!
Iggy Pop (who is the lead singer of The Stooges) is known as “The Godfather of Punk”, which is what genre The Ramones fall into. You should’ve done the studio version as your introduction, it’s a bit slower and easier to understand. Try “I Want To Be Sedated”. Jordan, most punk songs are short in length.
You MUST react to "I wanna be sedated" by the Ramones. You both will love it.
You need to do more songs by the Clash. The Clash we're considered to be the next Beatles!. The music was innovative, plus all different styles. Their lyrics made you think. Legendary band, check them out, their entire collection.
I seen em live in concert many times. the best show in town for less than $25 a ticket. just to see Joey coming on stage before they play their first song is worth the ticket price itself.
The Ramones singing "I Wanna Be Sedated"...PLEASE...YOU'LL LOVE IT!! And you gotta try the song "Rock n' Roll High School"...then watch the movie called "Rock n' Roll High School" which is about a girl in high school who is The Ramones biggest fan and her attempts at meeting them and giving them a song she wrote just for them. The Ramones are a BIG DEAL!! I think all The Ramones have passed away now. What's cool about them, all of them had the last name Ramone, but they weren't brothers, they all adopted that last name.
Ramones are the originators of punk rock. Many people consider them the first punk band.
I recognize Iggy and the Stooges influence on punk rock but me personally I wouldn’t consider them a pure punk band. I call them proto punk which means they influenced punk rock but before punk rock and I would call the band Death proto punk as well. Bad Brains didn’t form until 1977 and The Ramones formed in 1974 and their debut album came out in 1976 so I would consider The Ramones the first true punk rock group.
Not many things could make me as happy as the Ramones still being able to rock peoples brains out lol. The first albums I bought was a collection of four of their albums and I knew I would be a punk for life after 30 seconds
I was lucky enough to see the Ramones in '92 in Philly. One of the best shows I have ever been to in my life.
The song you're thinking of in Shrek when he's having to fight the knights in the tournament is bad reputation by Joan Jett. It's got a very fast similar sound to it. Now as far as it being played in an animated show, it was played on the animated TV show "Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius".
Not the show itself, it was the Jimmy neutron movie
J - Iggy Pop is an American singer/ songwriter - member of the 1967's proto-punk rock group "The Stooges" - also known as "the Grandfather of Punk Rock" by many. Personally, I truly believe that he was the main inspiration for Billy Idol's tough rocker image in the 80's, ten years later. A fantastic introductory song for first listeners to his unique style of rock is probably his most well-known song "Real Wild Child (Wild One)", which I believe both you and Amber will love to rock out in reaction to someday. Live version let's you better appreciate what I meant about his inspiration for Billy Idol's style somewhat "black leather jacketed "greaser-style", though he has had many "styles" (much like David Bowie) throughout his long career.
The Ramones! Dig it! Hold on🇺🇸🤠🐎🏈
I was lucky enough to see the Ramones in 77 at a bar called the Varsity Grill in college park Md. So much energy. No pause between songs. I was a classic rock guy when my friend turned me on to them. "Where are the solos man?" To me they seemed like a big goofy cartoon. Fun stuff.
Punk rock legends from NYC. A majority of their songs were less than 3 minutes.
Imagine if they listened to Blister in the Sun by the Violent Femmes
@@itsmedino LOL, Not sure if their ready for that. Then again they weren't ready for Jinjer, but did it anyway.
Man, you guys ran the gamut today; first Rush, one of rock'n'roll's most complex bands, then The Ramones, one of rock'n'roll's most primitive bands.
Both awesome in their own right.
From Wikipedia:
Blitzkrieg (/ˈblɪtskriːɡ/ BLITS-kreeg, German: [ˈblɪtskʁiːk] (About this soundlisten); from Blitz 'lightning' + Krieg 'war') is a military doctrine in which a surprise attack using a rapid, overwhelming force concentration that may consist of armoured and motorised or mechanised infantry formations, together with close air support, has the intent to break through the opponent's lines of defense, then dislocate the defenders, unbalance the enemy by making it difficult to respond to the continuously changing front, and defeat them in a decisive Vernichtungsschlacht: battle of annihilation.
The Ramones was the first true American Punk Rock band. Their first album came out in 1974, and although they did not have a lot of hit records, they were enormously influential to the British Punk Rock music scene in the mid-to-late-1970s. The band built their reputation over time by putting on hard-edged, frenetic Punk Rock concerts while on tour. According to Wikipedia, The Ramones performed over 2,200 concerts, and held their farewell concert in 1996 in Los Angeles. All of the original members of the group have passed away, while some replacement members of the group are still active in the music industry. The Ramones are inductees in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
In 1980, The Ramones released their 1980 album, "End Of The Century". It was produced by controversial music producer Phil Spector (who produced a lot of hit records in the early-1960s). One song/music video from that album that I would definitely recommend for the both of you to react to, is for the song, " Rock And Roll Radio". The music video got regular airplay on MTV during its first year in 1981, and into 1982.
When I first saw them live they started nearly every song with "1,2,3,4" .
The Ramones was one of Punk Rock's pioneer dating back to the 70's.
I have waited for months hoping you would find the Ramones!
Hey Ho, Let's Go!
Behold the pioneers that shaped so many lives and let them know that if you have the will to rock you can do it!
I grew up with the Ramones. My oldest brother was a fan so they were in my ears quite a bit!
Another Punk band that’s a must listen to IMO is The Misfits “We Are 138” “London Dungeon” “Astro Zombies”. They’re horror punk so don’t know how you’ll feel about their lyrics/imagery.
Maybe they should start with The Cramps first & work their way up to The Misfits...Baby steps.
That's a bridge too far, methinks.
YES! Can you imagine them reacting to 'Last Caress' or 'Where Eagles Dare'?
Ok, maybe y’all are right lol. They should check out Danzig then…the Lucifuge album is so good…I think Jordan would appreciate the bluesy heavy metal ❤️
@@Fakeaorta Lol…Last Caress (lyrics aside) is one of my favorite…the melody is so good. This is the reason I suggested their least graphic songs.
I love The Ramones! Rock N Roll High school is one of my favorite songs
Ramones "Wanna be Sedated".... that's the song that was my intro to punk rock back in the early 80s in college. LOL Yes, I am that old.
The Ramones rock. I would suggest "Beat on the Brat", "Shiela is a Punk Rocker", and "I Wanna be Sedated".
Those are my favorites
Thanks PLAY TIME 😉🙏✌️💯🇺🇸
All their songs are about 2 minutes long, so you can play the entire album at maximum volume before the cops show up at your party.
LOL, OMG sometimes it's like watching your grandparents listen to modern music, LOL. NO tea shade, I love it!
"Spun around and I don´t know whats going on" I couldn´t think of a better way to describe the Ramones
Punk Rock technically started in 1974
My favorite song by these guys is I want to be sedated.
That's a great fun song. Rob Zombie did a cover of this song and I was able to understand the lyrics for first time ever
LOL! You two make me laugh! I must admit, I've not listened to the Ramones much but my head was bopping along w/you two! Early Punk...gotta love it! And Amber...yes! In the Shrek the third soundtrack is the Ramones w/ the song "Do you remember Rock n" Roll Radio?"
I saw The Ramones 1-3x a year from 1978-1990. Never a bad show. Each show was a little faster than the show before. One of the greatest bands.
They one of the first punk bands , 1976.
Iggy Pop is a must - He is pre-punk - a mate of Bowie - Lust For Life to start - then his Duet with Kate Pierson of The B-52's, Candy
"I Wanna Be Sedated" is a MUST! Peace and Love!
The Ramones loved all of the late 50's early 60''s short Rock songs then took them and sped them up That is the birth of Punk
Not in Shrek (at least the first one), but in Vacation and a few video games. Studio version is better because the Ramones burned through songs in concert. “I Want To Be Sedated” is iconic Ramones!!
Please react to Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells, real psychedelic hippy music.
I love that song!
Totally agree.. but it has to be the ALBUM version, the LONG version, otherwise it’s not the same.
THIS was my first inkling of Punk and what a light bulb moment it was RIP all of them 👍🏴
The pride and joy of Queens, NY! THE RAMONES!
